70 /100 Chester Wine Spirits & Gourmet (Beer Store) 350 STATE RT 24 Small little shop that focuses mainly on wine and cheese but has a good selection of beer. You walk in and there are a couple rows of beer along with coolers along the back wall. The selection is not massive but they have done a nice job of bringing in a good variety. There is a good amount of well known craft and imports from Germany. Nothing stands out as being a big find but you will definitely find something. Beers sold as singles as well. |
62 /100 Old Mill Tavern (Restaurant) 55 NEW JERSEY ROUTE 24 Rustic old feel. Bar is long but very, very narrow standing area. Food is good but nothing special. Good selection of brews for the area. Decent promotions at times. Friendly staff. I go there from time to time but its not my usual destination. |
64 /100 Old Mill Tavern (Restaurant) 55 NEW JERSEY ROUTE 24 Nice bar with a good selection in Chester. Offers a good amount of crafts and the food is good. Gets a little crowded at the bar as it is in a narrow space. |
66 /100 Bernie’s Hillside Lounge (Bar) 125 HILLSIDE ROAD The quintessential roadhouse tavern! Bernie’s is a beer & shot sort of bar, with the best live music scene in NJ, a good bottle list, a few taps, and great atmosphere. The buidling was an old ’end of the line’ railroad hotel in the mid-1850’s, and has continued as a business since then. Tap selection is limited, with only Yuengling, Bass, and Victory seasonal as choice selections; however, there is a good selection of bottled beer, and very reasonable prices, too. Highly recommended as a place to have a few good, albeit common, cold beers while seeing a great band on a Saturday night, but not a family place. |
58 /100 Shop Rite Wines & Spirits of Chester (Beer Store) 120 U.S. 206 Standard beer store. The craft selection has been growing every time I stop in. I wish they would offer more single bottles and mix a six. The pricing is competitive and they have a decent selection. Very few hard to finds though. |
84 /100 Old Mill Tavern (Restaurant) 55 NEW JERSEY ROUTE 24 A quintessential tavern in rural New Jersey. 26 beers on tap, including Anchor Brewing Co., Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Yuengling, and others, including several seasonal taps. Too many shitte-beers, but there are some good options. They keep their lines clean, beers are served cold and usually fresh. Excellent tavern fare - best buffalo wings anywhere, period. Great burgers & such. |
