66 /100 Company Row (JDW) (Bar) THE VICTORIA CENTRE, VICTORIA ROAD This building stands out in the centre of Consett as being one of the very few new constructions in a town badly in need of regeneration. It’s situated at the end of a high street full of local (not national) shops. As such it is quite an attractive place to drink and there’s no shortage of locals that agree. The building stands alone and is a simple one room affair with a high V shaped ceiling. There is a small slightly elevated family section with an open fire to the right as you walk in, the rest of the room is given over to the usual uniform selection of tables and chairs and is quite impersonal in style. The bar is fairly long and serves the usual selection of rotating ales. |
80 /100 115 SHERBURN TERRACE Brewery tap for Consett Ale Works. 3 of their own on and 4 guests. The guests were pretty uninspiring but it’s a good friendly pub. No food although it advertises home made sandwiches outside. Definitely worth a visit. |
