32 /100 Mamma Gaucha (Restaurant) PASEO HORN 47 Beers from La Tropera , a brewery just outside of town. They have about 8 beers on offer but on my 4 visits there. they once had 3 beers and at other times only one. IPA and Cristal were infected, Porter mediocre , Strong Ale the best of the lot. Food is mainly pizza of poor quality and skimpy on ingredients. Table service is not bad but the guys behind the bar never pay any attention to the customer who would like to order a beer and sit there. Appalling lack of bartender standards.Better switch to delicious Chilean red wines. |
26 /100 Arisca (Bar) BAQUEDANO 400 In theory this place sells beers from Arisca brewery in Puerto Rio Tranquilo, but in fact during my two visits there they had only 1 beer from Arisca on one occasion and it was Negra their weakest brew. Otherwise there were beers from Pionieros (no idea where they brew) and Campo de Hielo from Coyhaique both with typical pharmacy flavors.Service is pitiful with indispensable spoon for removing head and zero knowledge of what they were serving. And they demanded a tip from a client sitting at the bar.Typical Chilean disaster of a pub. |
40 /100 BAQUEDANO 1895 2 beers on tap , one in bottle.. The best is D’Olbeck Belgian Lager ( not an ale as on Ratebeer) the misleading name comes from a Belgian pioneer’s recipe for a lager; pale ale has nothing to recommend it and bottled fruit beer though very popular among customers is.best forgotten.A bit of a walk out of town, service is average with
waitresses trying to seat clients to make the most of the very limited space. The owner, whose face is on the bottle labels, peers patronizingly from behind the bar. The food is terrible like in all other pubs in Chile limited to tablas for at least 2 people and sandwiches - this particularly disgusting Argentinian and Chilean invention which consists of dry stale wheat bread stuffed with some kind of meat.I would not go there again.
