“This one suffers the same as Fins as only there during the festival, but lovely pub and once long ago they let me camp in their garden when we arrived at the festival 3 days early and discovered we were not allowed in the field“

“The pub has been run down quite a bit recently and is being moved on to new tenants soon. The beer choice was just a slightly dodgy Bombadier alongside a couple of mass produced Eurofizz lagers, no ciders on tap. Really unfortunate for this once thriving pub.“

“This rating will start of identical to the rating for the Red Lion as I tend to visit here once a year at the Cropredy Fairport Conventions Annual Reunion Festival. So whilst my view of this is a little distorted owing to the timing of my visit, I have been here every year for the last 26 years and as it has been a GBG pub frequently during that time I should rate it. My most recent visit was Sat 11th August 2012. The pub is situated in the heart of the village opposite the small village green. Lovely honey coloured stone pub but not as pretty as The Red Lion a 5 minute walk away. The beers are usally Adnams and Hooky as I recall but they are always well kept. Of course during festival time you can also get additional beers on offer, there were a couple from Nobbys brewery this year, and much like The Red Lion the ’Fairport Fringe’ is now a regular event with bands on both here and at The Red Lion throughout festival time and often leading up to and after the festival. I have had some very good memories pf this pub over the years, it is also pictured on one of my favourite Fairport albums ’Nine’. Well worth a visit if in the area, combine with the Red Lion and a canalside walk.“

“I tend to visit here once a year at the Cropredy Fairport Conventions Annual Reunion Festival. So whilst my view of this is a little distorted owing to the timing of my visit, I have been here every year for the last 26 years and as it has been a GBG pub frequently during that time I should rate it. My most recent visit was Thurs 9th & Sat 11th August 2012. This pub really is a wonderful looking place, thatched roof, local stone, very pretty. It is situated on a quiet back lane leading to the Oxford canal and opposite the Cropredy church. The bar is to the left as you enter and the place is full of low beams and doorways. It would be interesting to visit this place away from the festival time as when I have visited there is always live music ’Fairport Fringe’ and additional bars. However the beer usually Hooky, Old Hooky and I also had Double Stout on Saturday is very well kept. worth a visit if in the area.“
