| 86 /100 32173 GOVERNMENT RD, STE B “Fun place. Pretty one hour drive from Boone via Tennessee. Small parking lot. Building open on two sides with a small central L-shaped bar. Brewhouse looks cobbled together, in a good way. Place is an old storage shed for antique tractors that the brewer used to keep here. There's a stuffed beaver named Adam and two of his skinny friends tacked to one wall, plus a customer's bra hanging from a cable, it's that kind of place. Nice patio out back with lots of tables. Staff were lots of fun and very knowledgeable, locals were an absolute riot, and visitors, mostly off the Appalachian Trail, were very friendly. Beers were very tasty as well. Flights came with six ounce pours of all eight beers, ouch. Happily you can do individual six ounce pours of anything, or full pours of course, and crowlers too (although they call them cans, which confused me at first, since they do not can their beers. Except in crowlers. Which they call cans. Oh well). Anyway, go out of your way to visit this place, and take some cans home with you. But go easy on the beaver.“ |

Packed with locals who were all quite friendly. I imagine this is the nightlife in town. Parking was a little tricky as people just park haphazardly. Sample pours are $2-3 per, and while a couple had some fermentation temperature issues, the quality was quite good and there were a few standouts. Quite a nice place and worth the short trek off the interstate.“ |
| 78 /100 32173 GOVERNMENT RD, STE B “A very small brewery located in a small building on the outskirts of Damascus. I first tried their Beaver Rage IPA at Heartwood in Abington - a creamy, well balanced IPA; nice floral hops with mild citrus notes on a bready malt base with light caramel notes; dry, bitter finish; brewed with Chinook, Sorachi Ace, Cascade, Warrior, and Nuggett hops. After biking the Virginia Creeper Trail, I stopped by the brewery to grab a growler to bring back to our campsite. They just have a small bar at the brewery with about a half dozen beers on tap. They sell growlers and mini growlers. I took a mini growler of the Creeper Imperial IPA. I enjoyed drinking it by the campfire: cloudy amber color; piney hop aroma; lots of piney hop flavor with herbal and citrus notes; medium bodied, bready malt base with light caramel notes; fairly easy drinking for a 9.4% abv beer. The brewer/owner was serving beers at the bar. I asked if they were open on Sunday because I’d like to get my growler refilled before leaving town. He said they were closed on Sundays, but he gave me his card and said “give me a call on your way out of town; if I’m not at church I’ll come fill you up.”“ |

The owner/brewer was on hand to pour his beers and talk ’em up. The Black IPA was particularly tasty and the Apricot Wheat quite refreshing. This is a bit off the beaten path but worthy of the trek.“ |
