“Nice large tap room with the brewery in the rear. 10 taps. The beers are all good. Friendly service. This is a nice local bar, I'm sure I'll be back.“

“As others have said, it is small, and tailored to the college crowd; the chilling block on the bar is interesting if not an old school idea that is good for the beers you want "ice cold". Staff seems to have a base level understanding of beer, but cursory at best. Selection is the best thing about this place, as you can find a lot of specialty kegs on draught, but the prices may get you, so watch out.“

“It feels like any other high end grocery store chain when you walk in. But the beer selection is fairly impressive and there are plenty of local and regional selections for you to take home and enjoy. I did not receive any help while here so cannot comment to the knowledge of the staff.“

“Nice sized space for being located in a strip mall type establishment, typical micro brewery decor. Service was great, super friendly and knowledgeable, quick with the beer and the suggestions if needed. Selection was decent, about 16 beers on tap, with a wide range of styles, the two I tried were pretty decent. If in Davis, its worth the drive out to get some new ticks for sure.“

“Small spot, but quaint with a small bar and seating for about 15-20 people in the front and a pretty awesome bottle shop behind. Taps are plentiful and varied, with some good local stuff, including Russian River and Firestone Barrelworks beers. And if there isn't something that suits your fancy there, you can pay a corking fee on any cold bottle in the place. Bartenders are helpful and knowledgeable, and nicely dressed to boot. A small gem for sure.“

“Quaint taproom, just outside of downtown, with large communal tables through the center and some brewery dogs running around, barrels and a foeder along the back wall. Service was great, friendly knowledgeable, and made you feel like they wanted you to be there. Selection was good, varying styles, sours were excellent, pilsner and porter was great, IPAs were decent. The local brewery where the locals hang out, so that's a great sign.“

“Small spot just off the main drag in downtown Davis, with a nice sized patio and quaint tasting room and bar area, removed from the production space. Service was great, knew a lot about the beer, very friendly, and handled the happy hour crowd very well. Selection was solid, 12 different beers in varying styles, with a few collabs and fun stuff all around, none that I wasn't happy with. Nice spot.“

“Visited after lunch on a Wednesday. Located on one of the main blocks of Central Davis. Outside patio area as you enter, with additional bar seating inside. 22 beers on draft along with a bottle and can selection that was pretty crazy and most everything was available as a single. Wish I had time to hang and have a beer, but was happy enough to buy a few great beers to go.

82 = ***½ (Solid place, near the top of the list for locals and visitors)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Visited for lunch on a Wednesday. Located in central Davis, with a very open design on the tree shaded sidewalk. Seating on both sides of the sidewalk, as well as on the deck of the restaurant and inside. Both food and beer is ordered at the counter inside. Beer selection is 12 well chosen local beers, nothing to crazy but certainly plenty of interesting options. Food menu is primarily burgers, which were fresh and tasty. I liked the casual vibe of this place, it was fun.

64 = ** (Just ok)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Pizza place with great pizza and a beer guy who puts mostly uncommon "locals" on the taps. Knowledgeable guy. Talked about having one 21st Amendment keg that is the only one in NorCal. Sadly wasn't on yet.“

“Located in something more strip mall than mall, but access is easy and the parking works. Quite a large venue. Decor is blue, gray, steel, reddish wood, high tables, stools, low tables, natural wood, a large shiny brew kit and lots of kegs. 8 taps and 5 beers on tap. Good beers. Something of an instant local it seems.“

Westlake Market (Grocery Store)
1260 LAKE BLVD
“I come here regularly and they always, always, ALWAYS have something new, even several exotic imports. I’ve never seen a better-taken-care-of beer case in a grocery store, they make full use of what space they have. The staff is always friendly and more than helpful, especially the two that operate the beer case; Patrick and Caleb. Definitely a popular destination for beer connoisseurs of Davis. They even make amazing sadwiches, what more could you ask for?“

“A casual, order-at-the-counter restaurant with great burgers and yes, great brews on tap. Most dining is out on patios surrounding this house turned into a restaurant. It can be noisy and crowded, but that just means people want to be there.“

“This place has everything from local beer favorites like Sudwerk, Track 7, Lagunitas and Russian River to craft ciders like 101 Cider House, 2 River Cider and Hemly’s Cider. But also stock hard to find stuff like Firestone Walker’s Reserves, Pliny the Elder and Founder’s KBS! They have a full home brew set, maybe the only spot in Davis! And the service is knowledgeable, professional and unpretentious. VG+“

“It’s a Trader Joes. Most beers are contract for Trader Joes. Barring the vintage ale it’s just for ticks. 5 years later and things have changed. Lots of good craft beers along with the contract meh. Story is Modern Times Accumulated Knowledge is their exclusive. Onwards and upwards.“

“Neat little place tucked away in downtown Davis down the block from the bottle shop and Woodstocks Pizza. Super friendly too. Fairly bare bones with outdoor seating. Flight of 4 was $7. We got 2 plus 2 extra beers total 10 for 14. Unfortunately the best was mediocre and the worst were just misses. It’s early yet, so there’s potential for improvement.“

“This place is quite small, which I wasn’t totally expecting. They have a small bar and bar area, and apparently you cannot take draft beers into the retail area and they’re very...serious about this. They made me move from the side of the bar where I was out of the way of the crowd right in front of the bar so I was in everyone’s way. Okay...

The beer list both on draft and bottle form is quite good, so I certainly cannot fault them there. For the most part, the pricing is pretty good and fair, I thought. Good mix of cold stock and beers out on the shelves with most of the new releases.

Found a couple nice new ticks to pick up and enjoyed some Hawaiian Speedway on tap, so I can’t complain too much.“

“Small bar in the downtown Davis with an extensive beer list. Kind of dead on a Sunday night during a school break, which was fine with me.

We grabbed a table and tried a few beers. The beers are all good, but maybe not a ticker’s paradise despite the large number of taps. Beers are all to be found on the tablet menus, which is neat, but I could also see it being a bit problematic if it was really busy.

Pints are fairly priced and the service was good. Solid neighborhood place to grab a beer, though could certainly see it being cramped.“

“Little building attached to the brewpub. They have some of their more seasonal and experimental beers available here. You can also check out the brewhouse. Some bottles available in the fridge of seasonal offerings and special releases like their citrus gose and brewer’s cut.

They do flights as well as full pours at the little bar. Not a whole lot of room to sit or anything here, particularly since it was raining.

Very friendly staff. Got to chatting with a couple of the brewers who gave us a tour of the place, which was surprisingly small.

Definitely worth a stop if you’re hitting the brewery since it’s just around the corner and on the same lot.“

“Bartenders know the 60 taps pretty well, even though new and good stuff in constantly coming in. The ice bar is really neat. I like the iPads a lot, because I can just look over all the beers at my table, instead of hovering around the bar. The patio is great too.“

“My experience did not match the norm I guess. This place is pretty damn small, with beer around the walls including some coolers and a tasting/checkout area to the right as you enter. The entire bottom half of the beer area is devoted to multi-packs, so there are not nearly as many unique beers in the store as the 550 that the site shows, but I didnt count, so I wont change it. Standard Belgians and Germans, quite a bit of SoCal stuff and some locals. They had Stickee Monkey, which was nice. No Sudwerk at all for sale, which I thought was odd. I was fairly annoyed that this is one of those places that does not use their cooler space optimally. I saw a lot of double IPA’s sitting in shelves while things that did not require immediate refrigeration were hanging out in the coolers. Tap list for the tasting room was relatively uninteresting. Now maybe they get some good shit in at times, but based on this trip, it was a pretty average bottle shop.“

“This place is around to the left, and is really just a shack with some christmas lights and a rollup door. Small bar inside with a couple of seats and a few tables on the periphery. They had six taps when I was there, including at least three that were not on inside the main brewpub. Apparently this is the main place that Sudwerk highlights its experimental beers. They also had a fridge with bottles to go, including the two most recent brewers cut releases. Staff was friendly, but a little slow; more interested in chatting than in serving for the most part. Samples are free, but you can also order pints, flights and growlers to go. All open air, but there is good ventilation so its not too bad even on a hot day. Pretzels are about the extent of the available food.“

“Modern. IPads serve as tap beer lists. Bar has an ice portion to keep the pints cold. Far out. Lots of good craft beers. Active participation in events like Sacramento Beer Week. Had lots of conversation with the bar guys. Good experience. 06/12/2014 downgrade. Drove 20 mi rt for a BA beer only to be told it’s been off over a day. Yet just before I left the beer list on Facebook listed it. Not good.“

“This is a student hangout in downtown Davis that has 60 beers on tap. The menu is displayed on hanging monitors as well as on three iPads on the bar. There is a selection of high-quality but not rare bottled beers. There are a dozen stools at the bar and enough table seating for 20 or so patrons. The music is old and new rock. Food can be delivered from a neighboring Thai restaurant.“

“This is a bit of a crowded interior, but there is a good-sized patio. A long bar, with about 40 beers on tap. The first time I walked in, some guy shoved an IPad in front of my face. Pretty stupid. I can see the tap handles, fine, thank you. Also they have big screen TVs with the tap list. They have a frozen area on the bar where you can put your beer to make it colder. Worked really well with my tulip glass. Bartenders have been largely clueless when I go there. All in all, this place reeks of smug douchiness from the name of the place to the ipads.“

“I've been here numerous times, and it's the best spot in Davis to drink beer. Rare bottles are really hit-or-miss, as you never know when cases will be saves for tastings or sold immediately. Missed lots of rarer beers due to this. They get some great offerings on tap, however, so come for the tastings (listed on Facebook, day-of) and the tap beers (and hope you can get lucky with rarer bottles).“

“This place opened about 6 months ago. It’s owned by the same group that owns Bistro 33. It’s located in the old Davis City Hall, which is pretty cool and spacious. Wood floors, dark, but with weird decor. Basically, the owners re-cycled all of the decor from their failed midtown Sacramento burger bar called SpinBurger. There’s a side room with a ping pong table, which is really noisy, obnoxious, and frequently full of unruly kids. Makes for a very loud and unrelaxing environment. With that said, the beers they have on tap are mildly interesting, and I poke my head in every now and then. They were serving 3oz samples of Utopias last night for $20, so I really can’t complain about that. They do serve their beer in bullshit 14oz glasses, despite the fact that they blatantly lie and say they are "16 oz" pours on their beer board. The food is pretty tasty. The bartenders are pretty clueless, for the most part.“

“Of all the Nuggets I have been to, this one probably has the best beer selection. They have a large selection of 22oz bottles and six-packs. This is probably the second best place in Davis to buy beer, behind The Davis Beer Shoppe. I would say it’s a little better than the Co-op. They have a new employee in the beer section, Don. He’s a knowledgeable guy who used to run the bar at Woodland’s Tazzina Bistro, which had great beer on tap.“

“Cute place. Has definite popularity on a Saturday evening. Big door opens to provide spillage to the outside. Not a lot of seating. Not a huge bar. But the beers are often new and perhaps a bit unusual. Fairly funky - a very slimmed down version of the Lost Abbey warehouse location. Worth a visit once in awhile - likely always to find a new and interesting beer. There’s a mug club - otherwise the beer is in a plastic pint container. Had a chance to talk to a brewer taking a break with a beer. Bartender was communicative.“

“This is an older, converted frat house into a restaurant. Plenty of nice outdoor seating is present. The pizza is fantastic. They have about 20 beers on tap, and usually a few good ones (Berryessa). They also have about 20-40 bottles, with Pliny being one of them. All in all, a nice place to relax and grab some good pizza to fill your belly before going to a place like the Beer Shoppe.“
