74 /100 Town Street Tap (Bar) 17 TOWN STREET As previous raters have observed, there is no bar. Rather, you are served tableside. It's a small enough pub for that business model to work, although I do wonder how they cope when it's really busy. As for the beer, it's more focused on Tollgate than their pubs in Leicester and Ashby, although there's a small bottle selection dedicated mostly to First Chop as well as various non-alcoholic beers. While it's not the 'craftiest' pub in the Tollgate stable, the beer is decent and the atmosphere is laid back. |
66 /100 Town Street Tap (Bar) 17 TOWN STREET Nice little bar ...no bar as such the staff come and serve you... |
80 /100 Town Street Tap (Bar) 17 TOWN STREET Micropub on the main road in Duffield. There's no bar - staff (who are sat out in the pub mingling with the customers) go & get whatever you want. Has the full Tollgate bottled range, plus six taps (two of their brews, & 4 guests on rotation mainly from other local micros). Usual craft bar stripped floorboards look. Very friendly, and the staff are great and know their beers. Has aa proper community pub feel - I always like pubs where anyone can and does get talking to anyone, even (or possibly especially!) when this results in a chap telling you at length about the article he wrote about beetles in the local magazine! Really great little place, recommended if you're in the area. |
