“Was there on Labor Day, and beers were 2 for 1 which apparently they are every Monday. And the beer was quite good. Suffice it to stay we stayed for a 2nd round of short beers, which was 4 bucks. That's value. They had a large variety of styles. The beers were on style, looked attractive, were in proper glassware, and the staff was able to answer questions. There was trivia to play and free popcorn. We were in heaven in Eagan.“

“Really cool concept, especially for tickers. 32 taps on the wall, self-serve, pay by the ounce. I ticked 12 beers and my tab was $4.34. House beers were not very good, yet.“

“Been here a few times since they’ve opened, the beer seems to get a little better each visit. Right now they seem to be no frills interpretations of common beers. Large place across outlet mall in an industrial complex. Lots of seating reclaimed wood features with room for a stage and band. It’s close so I’ll continue to go, but I wouldn’t go too far out of my way for a visit yet. Seems like a good locals spot.“

“Large slightly more upscale sports bar, pull tabs if that helps. Went during lunch which has lunch/early bird menu which was affordable sandwichs basically, food was very good. Service was ok for a busy Friday lunch. Nice size tap list. Website updates with taphunter, so I’d go back for the right beer forsure.“

“I’ve been wanting to hit this place up for awhile. It’s an interesting place. It’s half Mediterranean Resturant and half neighborhood craft beer bar. They have a stage for belly dancing, none tonight so sad. I always hear they getting interesting stuff and they indeed did, decent bottle list too. The food was alright, I’ve had better, but it wasn’t bad by any means and the portions are pretty big. I’d visit again if I knew had something interesting on tap.“

“This is a huge chain apparently based in Minnesota. Odd that I have not been to one before, but here goes. Looks like an Applebys from the outside, definite chain brewpub look and feel to it. Large lot with plenty of cars in it on a Wednesday night. Busy place, but large so there were still tables and spots at the bar. Standard chainy feel to it with the glossy food menus. Really feels like a Gordon Biersch inside actually. They had about 8ish of their offerings on tap, and did offer flights of four, but not a "you pick." I was lazy and just did the standard core beer flight. As expected, beers were pretty bad, my highest was a 2.8 and it went down from there. Nothing truly horrible to be had though.“

“First stop after hitting the airport. In an industrial park; you need to basically drive a 360° to reach it, but its there. Large enough space, pretty open and adjacent to brewing area. L shaped bar up front. Service was friendly. Flights available for a reasonable price, you choose. Beers were decent.“

“A nice large tap room in an industrial park just across from an outlet mall. A pretty standard crisp, rustic feeling to the interior with a few non invasive TVs. Small patio out back that is in an industrial park so meh. Service was decent. They had 5 beers on tap with samplers available. New Bohemia food truck was present and prices were in line with other ’burb breweries. I wouldn’t go out of my way but worth a stop if you are in the area.“

“Visited during their opening weekend. Large customer space carved out from the brewing area. It looks like there’s a back patio for when the weather’s cooperating. There were only 4 beers available during my visit. The beers were a bit ho-hum, with their brown ale being the best. Breweries have opened with much worse lineups, so we’ll see how Bald Man develops. Prices for pints were reasonable, but tickers will pay a tax for flights. Service was kind but didn’t seem particularly knowledgeable. Overall, it’s nice to see this part of the south metro get a brewery. Let’s see how they develop.“

“Pretty nice new spot just north across Hwy 13 from the outlet mall. Big open space with a patio as well. Free parking in a lot. 5 beers on today, flight of all 5 for $8. Couple beers were decent. Very friendly server. Looking forward to how this develops.“

“Not a bad beer store. Couple shelves of beers, including a few one-off German beers. Prices seem about normal for the area.“

“Solid selection with some rare-ish beers available. I picked up Syx, Stone 10th and a few others in my trip there. The beer guys were knowledgeable but clearly favored certain breweries or types of beer. I asked for some imperial stout and IPA recommendations and he looked at me like I had asked something offensive. Overall good selection and I would go back if it were closer.“

“Dropped the kids off at the pool (literally not figuratively) and was close by so stopped in today. Easy to get to, in between Cedar and 35E, but not much to look at from the outside. Inside is a typical beer store with the beer in the back. Lots to choose from and a decent selection. Prices seemed reasonable, maybe a tad higher than the lower priced stores around town. The singles section was rather pathetic though for a place with as much as they had. Service was pretty good, the guy asked a couple times if he could help and talked beers a bit. Check it out if you are in MilkmanDan’s neck of the woods.“

“I’m a fan - love the pizza, which has great buttery crust. Sports on the TVs. And loads of beers, even if most aren’t very high end or rare, you can usually find a couple that are worth ordering.“

“The St. Paul location is a good store, but there is far less beer in Eagan. Not really a beer destination, and Cellars Eagan and Blue Max aren’t that far. If you can’t drive the extra 7 minutes, you could find something here.“

“Visited here in February ’10. Decent selection of Midwestern standards and common imports. Lacking is a selection of singles if you are looking to rack up a few ratings. Have a few bombers available, select 750 mls from brewers such as Goose Island and some sixers of local favorites such as Surly, Schell, and Summit. Not a destination beer stop, but if you find yourself in the area, say at the Old Chicago Pizza, stop on by.“

“Suburban chain restaurant/brewpub. Fun to get brewpub beers, but nothing really spectacular here. Food is good, atmosphere is nice and clean, albeit low on the character scale. Value is pretty good - got a flight of 7 beers for $3.75, tough to beat that if you are hunting for ratings.“

“Visited here in August ’09. Corporate brewpub atmosphere - the patrons could care less if the beer is hand crafted. Very nice setting - lots of wood and brick, fireplaces etc. Have their four or five regulars on tap with a few rotating seasonals. Food is excellent and the service is very attentive. Beer is corporate brewpub quality - brewed to the masses and palatable.“

“Visited here in August 2009. Only in the area for about three days so was seeking out quality instead of quantity and I found what I was looking for. Two areas full of Midwestern micros from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. - plenty of singles and all marked well with the price (no surprises at checkout). Lots of Ratebeer shelftalkers. Prices were very reasonable - Bell’s for $1.89 - you gotta love that! Had at least two hundred different bottled selections and the staff was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. If you are in the twin cities and need to pick up a good sample of the local offerings - this is the place to go.“

“Visited here twice while on vacation August 2009 - once for lunch and once to play pool and darts and watch a Twins game. Has a great variety of Midwestern macros - actually picked up five new ratings without really trying. Food menu is varied and reasonably priced - the beers could be priced a tad lower. Plenty of TVs and is very friendly - my 14 yr old son and I played pool and darts in the bar area with no problem. Plenty of signage to let you know what they have on tap and in the bottles and what is new and featured. Overall - about 40 taps and at least 100 bottles.“

“Very good selection, good service. helpful and knowledgeable staff. I hop between this store and Blue Max. Cellar’s is more convenient for me and the staff more helpful. Blue Max does have a better selection and slightly better prices.“

“Shop here quite regularly, second-best beer store in the southern suburbs after Blue Max. Nice selection, mostly of U.S. micros, loads of Bell’s, Surly, Great Divide, Southern Tier, and a wide variety of other things. OK selection of international stuff, but not going to find uniquely rare stuff here. Still, there’s a lot of foreign stuff as well. Staff is friendly and helpful, a very good stop.“

“A small store in an absolutely terrible location at the corner of Diffley and 149. It is, however, the nearest vaguely decent beer store to my house. Have picked up Rush River, Bells, Boulevard, Unibroue, and a variety of other reasonably common micros there, but the selection certainly isn’t huge. Still, for a store on the eastern edge of Eagan, it’s quite nice, and the staff has been at least knowledgeable about wine when I’ve asked. I rarely shop here, preferring to drive to Blue Max or the Eagan Cellars, but, if you’re on 149 going towards Rosemount or something and want decent beer, it’s a good choice. If you can find it, of course, because, again, the location completely sucks.“

“This chain carries the widest selection of beers that I’ve ever seen in a restaurant, with monthly specials and staff picks - though clearly not all of the staff is involved in picking. Fortunately, if your server knows nothing about the beer, they’ll bring you a free sample of any draft you’d like to try. Food is a consistently tasty assortment of pizzas, appetizers, pasta dishes and burgers. Smoking is confined to the bar, which is well separated from the dining room (though you have to go through the bar to get to the restroom).“

“Strange that this place has a different selection than the Blue Max but since the Max is across the river.... what? Lots of singles,Belgians, domestic micros and other Euro brews. Big open floorplan and well lit. Staff usually doesn’t know shit about beer.“

“As all the Granite City restaurants in the Twin Cities are new, they are clean and well kept. The ambiance is a cross between a typical sports bar and small group, after work watering hole. Televisions display the current college or pro sports game and are visible from any seating location. Service is provided by mostly high school aged wait staff. Alcohol is delivered by an over 21-year-old. Service is good but attention to detail could improve (to be expected with high school kids, I guess). A small selection of micro brewed beers, which are delicious, the Brother’s Benedict Bock being my favorite followed by the Duke of Wellington IPA. The selection of micro brewed beers includes seasonal beers as well. The food is delicious with large portions. Prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is relatively child friendly with a diverse selection offered on their children’s menu. “

“More screaming children than I have ever seen at an Old Chicago, but this is the suburbs. Next time I will go late at night. Service was friendly but clueless about beer; not so good for a bar that advertises their beer selection. Food is pizza, sandwiches, burgers, standard OC fare. A few rare beers including regional specialties. If you are in the area and have to drink, or maybe want something from Surly on tap, this is the place to go. I normally wouldn’t enter this place, but all of the other Old Chicagos are listed so this should be as well.“

“Not as impressive as some of the other locations, with a smaller selection than Minnetonka and nothing on sale in the beer area. If you can’t make the few extra miles to Blue Max, you will be able to find some good things here. Service was friendly. The selection included a few rare beers, and it is far better than the average liquor store.“
