Vinlageret Fanø (Beer Store)

“I’ve only had the opportunity to visit this place once during a touristic visit to the area. My impression was that the place has good ambience situated on the idyllic main street in the main town of the island of Fanø. Located in an old townhouse the shop sells beer as well as wine and other delicatessen (spices, chocolate and what not). There’s also a room with a long table and a flat screen, which is sometimes used for tastings and on Friday night it seems they work as a kind of wine bar, which is a nice touch. I didn’t really have the occassion to ask the staff any questions as I generally do my own research. The beer selection was not particularly interesting. There was far too much emphasis on mediocre Danish beer like "Medici" and practically no speciality beer from the local Fanø brewery. Most of the selection is smaller Danish breweries (Warwik) and British (Thornbridge, Harviestoun) breweries. Unfortunately, one of the bottles I bought there was past its expiration date, which suggests that the turnover is rather low. Not a good place to buy fresh beer but perhaps you may find some small gems that have been sold out elsewhere (I found some Ola Dubh that I hadn’t seen anywhere else). I wouldn’t take a detour just for this shop even if I were in the vicinity (i. e. Esbjerg).“

“Visited June 4. Small wine and beer shop on the mainstreet in Nordby. Small selection of beers. You can also sit outside and drink what you buy or get a cold draught beer.“
