Cartwheel Inn (Restaurant)

“Old country inn. Outstanding upmarket food, in particular the seafood specials. Few local cask ales in excellent condition, a few Downton beers on my visit. At this time, the best gastropub in the Fordingbridge area.“

“Visiting while on holiday in the area. Appeared more a sport bar. Al ought 5 hand pulls only 2 on at my visit. Doombar being 1 of those. The other was a new Dorset beer for me from six penny brewery.“

“Quick visit as staying nearby on holiday. Nice venue overlooking the river Avon. But not a venue for beer drinking.“

“A proper drinking pub. Beer is cheap (for the area, though prices have crept up a little) and the clientele tend to be older and more interested in drinking than most of the other pubs in town. Tend to have 3 real ales on tap, and they don’t change often. Occasionally have specials in from local places. Perhaps my rating is (quite obviously) tinged with nostalgia, but this place does hold a special place in my heart.“

“Pleasant pub right next to the river. In summer, the outside seating is really pleasant, and the food is outstanding. They only have 2 real ales on tap, and it is expensive, though perhaps not that surprising given the location. If this wasn’t a beer rating website this would be a higher rating, as apart from the beer selection it is a really nice pub.“
