76 /100 Cartwheel Inn (Restaurant) WHITSBURY Old country inn. Outstanding upmarket food, in particular the seafood specials. Few local cask ales in excellent condition, a few Downton beers on my visit. At this time, the best gastropub in the Fordingbridge area. |
50 /100 Crown Inn (Bar) 62 HIGH ST Visiting while on holiday in the area. Appeared more a sport bar. Al ought 5 hand pulls only 2 on at my visit. Doombar being 1 of those. The other was a new Dorset beer for me from six penny brewery. |
46 /100 George (Greene King) (Bar) 14 BRIDGE STREET Quick visit as staying nearby on holiday. Nice venue overlooking the river Avon. But not a venue for beer drinking. |
70 /100 Crown Inn (Bar) 62 HIGH ST A proper drinking pub. Beer is cheap (for the area, though prices have crept up a little) and the clientele tend to be older and more interested in drinking than most of the other pubs in town. Tend to have 3 real ales on tap, and they don’t change often. Occasionally have specials in from local places. Perhaps my rating is (quite obviously) tinged with nostalgia, but this place does hold a special place in my heart. |
54 /100 George (Greene King) (Bar) 14 BRIDGE STREET Pleasant pub right next to the river. In summer, the outside seating is really pleasant, and the food is outstanding. They only have 2 real ales on tap, and it is expensive, though perhaps not that surprising given the location. If this wasn’t a beer rating website this would be a higher rating, as apart from the beer selection it is a really nice pub. |
