68 /100 ROEWOOD FARM, BUNNS LANE A retail shop in the warehouse which produces the vast array of Lilley's Cider. It's a basic, relatively small place housing floor to ceiling stacks of boxes and bottles of all Lilley's current range, plus - quite surprisingly - a wall of cider from other producers such as Mr Whitehead, Gwatkin's and rivals Seacider & Snails bank. All box ciders are open for customers to either try or fill their own containers, or even just fill a glass to drink outside at a couple of tables. Just fill and take to the counter. Got a few cheeky ticks from samples. Not a huge fan of Lilley's flavoured, watered-down approach but as we were at Frome cheese show at the showground next door we had a look out of curiosity. |
72 /100 Palmer Street Bottle (Bar) 11 PALMER STREET Great little bar with small shop selling craft beers, a pity it was Sunday morning otherwise I'd have tried a couple of there tapped beers. A friendly guy was serving. |
60 /100 George Hotel (Bar) 5 MARKET PLACE A Wadworth owned or tied pub & hotel which has a good range of there beers on tap & in the bottle. I was meeting friends here as it's very central Frome. Not a place I'd usually venture into, but it was enjoyable enough and found a few beers I've not had before to chose from. |
74 /100 Griffin (Bar) 25 MILK STREET A good place to visit if like me you like to try small breweries beers closest to home. It's a pleasant place to spend a hour or two, with 4 beers from Milk Street on tap as well as 6 taps of guest beers. |
70 /100 Cornerhouse (Bar) 1 CHRISTCHURCH STREET EAST Recently renovated pub that operates as the Blindmans’ brewery tap and also offers bed and breakfast. Usually has 5 or 6 Blindmans ales on offer with a couple of guests from local micros and a few craft ciders. Food is very good, offering Pie Minister pies, sausages and mash and grills. Service was friendly and attentive. Very enjoyable. UPDATE: As of Spring 2011 no longer tied to Blindmans. |
52 /100 Cornerhouse (Bar) 1 CHRISTCHURCH STREET EAST This place had kind of a gastro/corporate vibe. The Blindmans beer isn’t all that good and is prone to diacetyl. The Lamb doesn’t help in that matter, unfortunately. |
68 /100 Griffin (Bar) 25 MILK STREET Nice spot, like a living room. I like the Milk Street beers, even though a few of them have pedio infections. It works sometimes for me, that character. This place is just outside the downtown area. |
64 /100 Griffin (Bar) 25 MILK STREET Friendly, basic local which normally has 4 Milk Street beers on sale. On the other side of the town centre from the Lamb. Note that it’s not open during lunchtimes. |
60 /100 Cornerhouse (Bar) 1 CHRISTCHURCH STREET EAST Bright front room is bar, back room is restaurant. Whole thing feels like a bistro or coffee shop as much as a bar. A range of Blindman’s beers and a few cask ciders. |
60 /100 Griffin (Bar) 25 MILK STREET Not a traditional or even attractive pub on the inside, but comfy and is a nice place to try the Milk St. beers since they are brewed in the adjacent building. |
