78 /100 Downtown Drafts (Bar) 115 BRADFORD ST SE Cozy and friendly, with good free wi-fi, plenty of games to borrow, a couple of flatscreen TVs.
20 taps, including a couple of cider taps. Some rarer beers including a New Belgium Lips of Faith offering. Beers offered in 3 serving sizes plus growlers. A small but interesting selection of bottled beers to go. Worth a visit if in the area.

76 /100 Tap It (Beer Store) 1850 THOMPSON BRIDGE RD Great new growler haul in Gainesville. This beer joint actually has more taps then bottles. Amazingly friendly service and great local selection. |
80 /100 Mellow Mushroom - Gainesville (Restaurant) 700 GREEN STREET Great pizza joint. Literally this place is hip and happening like all the Mellow shrooms. Good seasonal local brews. |
82 /100 My Brew Heaven (Homebrew Shop) BROWNS BRIDGE RD. Great place / will go back! |
36 /100 The Monkey Barrel (Bar) 115 WASHINGTON ST SW Not very clean- bad experience |
74 /100 The Monkey Barrel (Bar) 115 WASHINGTON ST SW This is hands-down the best place I’ve found in Gainesville, however it’s probably only worth visiting if you find yourself in Gainesville (i.e., not worth a trip from out of town). Service has been good both times I’ve been there. The selection is really good, considering its location. No macro lagers on tap (except for Stone Mill Pale Ale on my most recent visit). They also have a pretty good bottle selection that’s reasonably priced - $6 for a bomber of Rogue Choc Stout/Monk Madness. Definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Gainesville. |
94 /100 My Brew Heaven (Homebrew Shop) BROWNS BRIDGE RD. I was blown away by this place after I discovered it. Prices may be a little bit higher than some places, but the huge selection and outstanding personal service made it a bargain. The seem to specialize in a large wine kit selection, too, and they got me started making wine with my beer gear. I cannot believe the quality of the wine I’ve made. It’s astounding, and cheap.
Obviously, I’ve become a huge fan and supporter of this place. They make every other shop I’ve ever seen pale by comparison. |
