78 /100 412 CENTRAL AVENUE A nice brewpub in downtown Great Falls. Lots of indoor seating as well as an outdoor patio facing the street. Can't remember exactly but approximately 6-8 taps (mostly "keepers" with a few "catch-and-release), generally basic styles. I tried the pale ale, pilsener, and coconut stout, and all were solid. Their food menu is mainly pizzas, which were very good. Overall, this is the only brewpub in Great Falls so you have to stop here, but the beer and food are quite good. |
62 /100 Mackenzie River Pizza (Restaurant) 500 RIVER DRIVE SOUTH Pizza and pasta was good. Server was friendly but not very attentive. Price was very reasonable. Great selection on kids menu and cheap. Beer selection was mostly regional and
were out of two that I wanted to try. Overall not bad. |
86 /100 215 3RD ST NORTHWEST A trip to the front is always pleasurable experience. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Its a great place to meet friends and solve the worlds problems over a pint of beer from a list that has something to suit just about every taste. |
92 /100 The Stein Haus (Bar) 711 1ST AVE N 21 taps of Montana only brews, flights available. Had a pizza from next door which was OK. Great place and highly recommended, especially the 100% "local" was a great experience. I hadn’t tried a single one of the 22 taps I saw one the night I was in |
80 /100 215 3RD ST NORTHWEST A hidden gem in the area. Nice place but nothing particularly special. Service is great with owners and brewers on hand. This place shines with its beer. The brewer has a great touch with IPA’s. A must visit. |

80 /100 The Stein Haus (Bar) 711 1ST AVE N Kept meaning to stop in here, and I finally did on my last trip through Great Falls. The attraction here is that this place has 24 taps, 21 of which are exclusively from Montana craft breweries. I was especially impessed to see some of the more obscure ones like Carters here, and there was only one Big Sky tap. Really eclectic and well-managed selection, and they do growler fills on all 21 taps as well. The decor is classic mid-1980s dive bar, but iI never felt threatened or out of place, and the service was prompt and friendly. They don’t have a kitchen, but there is a pizza place next door that you can order from and have it delivered to your table, or right to your stool if you’re sitting at the bar. One thing of note is that it is bloody DARK in this place. Like Aces & Ales in Vegas dark. Kinda cave-like, but worth it for the quality and selection of taps here. One quirk that you should be aware of is that they serve everything in big bloody steins here, so the glassware choices are limited to say the least, but it’s great value. |
80 /100 215 3RD ST NORTHWEST Stopped in as part of my tour of Great Falls places. Like Bowser’s, this place is brand new. Unlike Bowser’s I would actually come back here. The Front is attached to another restaurant called The Faster Basset, which seems to be a crepe/coffee sort of plae, and two are divided by a large fireplace in the center of the space, though you can easily walk between the two businesses. The brewry itself is off to your right as you walk in, behind a glass wall, while the Faster Basset is off the the left. The beers are above average to good, and they have about 8 of their own, as well as a selection of other brewers (they had 3 Stone taps while I was there). The brewery itself doesn’t serve food, but you can walk to ~30 feet from the bar over to the Faster Basset counter and order crepes, sandwiches etc. I didn’t eat, though prices seemed fair, and the food sounded good. Be awre that it’s pretty much all sandwich/crepe lighter fare however. Service was excellent, as the place was pretty deserted when I came in and I had the (hot) bartender all to myself. Nice place, the beer was decent, and I’ll be back again. |
62 /100 Mackenzie River Pizza (Restaurant) 500 RIVER DRIVE SOUTH Decent beers on draft. San Juan White is actually Beltian White from Harvest Moon brewery in Belt. |
88 /100 The Stein Haus (Bar) 711 1ST AVE N 21 different Montana MICROS |
70 /100 Mackenzie River Pizza (Restaurant) 500 RIVER DRIVE SOUTH Typical pizza joint with a nice selection of beers. Be sure to try the Mackenzie River Amber. |
60 /100 Mackenzie River Pizza (Restaurant) 500 RIVER DRIVE SOUTH An okay place, mostly regionals and semi-micros, plus the pizza isn’t bad. The trick is they were out of half their draft selection while I was there. Decent enough food, decent enough selection of beers, and hey, it’s right across the street from Great Northern Brewery. |
