“Many other bars closed 23.00 or earlier this evening so this "Irish" pub was rather well-attended. Most were seated in the spacious, covered backyard. I sat by the bar. Efficient service. 15 taps but mostly beers from Ringnes/Carlsberg but also two from Founders and Beavertown. My night cap this evenig was a bottled beer from Founders. (Visited July 14th 2022)“

“A spacious bar and restaurant with an unique self-tap service. First time I have seen that in Norway. I only wanted their house beer from Nøgne Ø so I did not bother using their self-tap service. I guess you have to prepay for a selected amount for a a one-time card or something like that. I asked the bar man for a 40 cl and he served me. Good service! Impressive to see 9 different beers from Nøgne Ø on the tap list. The rest was not that interesting in my opinion. (Visited July 14th 2022)“

“Great place in Hamar! Matkvartalet (The food quarter) is several restaurants around a quarter or backyard. Seating in the middle, buy food where you want. Crafty Friends is the brewpub here in Matkvartalet. Also seating inside. I found a table inside near the bar, waiting for ChrisOftstad - RateBeer himself in Hamar! Nice to meet him and have a chat when enjoying all five beers on tap from Crafty Friends. Very friendly service in the bar too. Be beware, this is not a place for late night drinking. I guess it closed 22.00. (Visited July 14th 2022)“

“Nice restaurant with large outdoor seatring area. Not really a beer place. Some bottles from the local microbrewery Røhne, that's all I guess. (Visited July 14th 2022)“

“A brewpub with five tap lines, four of their own and one guest beer on tap from Sleeping Village available at our stay in early March 22. A few g,uest beers on cans and bottles as well, from Lervig, Haandbryggeriet, To Øl, Brekeriet , Amundsen, and Sleeping Village. Located in a L-shaped café room as a part of larger food court (Matkvartal), coffee and street food options in the same room as the brewpub. Their tap beers are served in 200ml and 400ml amounts. Friendly service offering tasters of their beers. Open during the weekdays, from 11:00, and from 12:00 on Sundays. Our visit included an informative talk with brewer Jeremy Metzger who had been at Trysil Bryggeri and Basarene/Talas before joining the Crafty Friends. Central location, just a few minutes from the train station. Good Madrugada music in the back. We really liked the place and came back both on Saturday and Sunday before going to Vikingskipet attending The World Allround and Sprint Championship. (Visited with Leif Ståle and Dag Erik 4-6/3-2022).“

“A place with many qualities located in the central part of the pedestrian street in Hamer. We reserved a table for two evenings after attending the World Speed Skating Championships. Very busy both on Friday and Saturday eve. Convenient to pour the beers by self-tap, perfect for tasting in smaller amounts. There were 20 tap lines to choose from, most of them from Norwegian breweries. The tap menu is supported by a large list of cans and bottles, about 100 different Norwegian and foreign beers. Among them five bottles from the more of less local brewery Røhne Bryggerhus, each of them for the price of NOK 172,-. Heim is a gastropub with an open kitchen to the rear of the servery. Excellent Fish and Chips dish. Quite a large place that opens up with different rooms behind the bar. On Friday eve they had their own dj, on Saturday they had music by Iggy Pop, Rolling Stones and Katrina & The Waves among others in the background. Friendly service. (Visited with Gunnbjørg, Leif, Bård and Dag Erik 28 and 29/2-2020).“

Victoriahaven (Restaurant)
STRANDGATA 21
“It's a restaurant and bar with emphasis on gourmet food and wine, and not a beer destination. However, this place is also an outlet for beers from Røhne Brewhouse made in Stange, not far from Hamar. On my stay they had three beers from the microbrewery. We were welcome to drink the beers without eating. Each 500ml bottle was priced NOK 135,00. On Heim the price for a Røhne bottle was NOK 172.00. The location of Victoriahaven is on the other side of First Hotel Victoria and O'Learys, and not far from the train station. The outdoor seating should perfect for trainspotting. A stylish place mostly in dark interiors, steel and glass. Friendly service. (Visited with Leif and Dark Erik 27.02.2020).“

“One of the best places at Hamar The funny thing here is that you can tap your own beer The only place in Norway that I have seen this Not very difficult to find. Quite close to Gullkorn Ølbar that is the best place in this town About 10 min walk from the train station “

Vinmonopolet Hamar (Beer Store)
UTSTILLINGSPLASSEN, RINGGATA 53
“This store is one of Vinmonopolets special stores with extended selection. Now there is more than 200 beers in the shelves. My local Vinmonopolet special store at Kvadrat, has much more, but this store in Hamar has the best selection between Oslo and Trondheim. I found some bottles not available in my part of the country, Rogaland. For sure worth a visit! (Visited June 25th 2018 - Bjarte1 was looking for a new cap at the nearby XXL store...)“

“Loved this place to bits, and should be your first stop for craft beer in Hamar. A bit chaotic - yet very cozy and intimate seating inside, and more seats in the courtyard. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Bottle selection looked extensive, and with a good variation of Norwegian and international craft beers, but the real treat was the tapline with some exclusive stuff in addition to the more regular choices. Enjoyed a 0,2 of the delicious Protagonist ale (Mr Nøgne Ø Kjetil Jikiun’s Greek adventure).“

“Visited first time and so far only time on Sunday April 23, 2017.
Since their website states open Sunday at 12/noon, and the sign on the door states the same, it is a bit strange when you walk in and are told that they open at 2pm/14 and just forgot to lock the door. Got back 2 hours later for two small beers.
Address for the place is Strandgata 31, also as of their homepage. However when coming to Strandgata 31 you get very confused and figured something is wrong and walk around trying to get WiFi to see if you can find more info. Don’t do this, we have already done so...
Instead, take the "25" road / Vangsvegen that goes some North East or so 90 degrees from Strandgata, between First Hotel Victoria building and the building actually housing Strandg 31. Soon on your left hand side on this new street you will see a large orange sign stating "PUB" and looking like something from an 80’s American movie, on street level you will then find a small sign for The Irishman.
Once we managed to get there during their trading hours, was a nice place to be. We sat inside, shared two draught beers and relaxed. Though we were the first, part from the two in the staff, to arrive, even with actually opened, a few patrons came in during our short stay, mainly to have Sunday lunch it seemed. We did get a peak outside at the large and beautiful beer garden that didn’t seem to be open this day, I can understand the joy of hanging out there for a few beers for sure.
Mainly some beers from Rignes brewery, at least one from Founders, some Guinness etc. But a nice enough quiet (early Sunday) place that seem popular with the locals for food. Nice service from the sort of elderly couple working. Not a beer tickers heaven at all, but good for a pint when waiting for the train, or just relaxing.
Served tap beers as 33 or 50 cl.
Payed with card, no issues. Very clean restrooms.“

“Visited first and so far only time, first time in Hamar, late Friday evening April 21, 2017.
Arrived by late train, checked in to our hotel and walked over to meet up friends who had been at the bar longer than us. Located very close to Strandgata. If you arrive by train and head here, walk along Strandgata from the station, then up right on Håkons Gata and it will be located on your right hand side. We used google maps, which was a bad idea, they had us up at number 47-49, instead of down at 15, so don’t trust google maps in Hamar.
This late Friday (we did arrive roughly around midnight) they had a bouncer/door man outside, checked our bags and told us to empty out our water bottles before we could go in. A short way into a courtyard-ish and then a sliding door with some steps down to enter the bar. A few little rooms, with odd steps here and there. Very cozy, but certainly not for the handicapped. More than decent enough crowd this evening, not crowded or packed, but people at every table and seems very popular.
Some 10 or so taps on, two Talas from the local brewery (Basarene’s beers), rest mainly Norwegian, but a good variety. We only had a beer each from the tap selection before it was getting late and we had to leave. They served the draught beers as 20 cl or 40 cl, and it being Norway reminded us that Sweden perhaps aint that expensive for alcohol etc after all. Nice service, no problems to pay by card. Two small pours was 123 NOK combined I think.
Didn’t eat or use the restrooms. Perhaps no parking just outside, but Hamar central is not huge, so if you are driving there is parking close by. Didn’t check the bottled selection myself, but had friends who found interesting things, or so they told me. If I find myself in Hamar again and want to sit down and have some craft beer, I am sure Gullkorn will be one of the places I keep in mind for a re-visit.“

“To local beer enthusiasts this is the pub in Hamar, and beer friends have their regular meetings here. The pub has been running since 1996 and has got a local, friendly feel. Cozy and more typical English than Irish with a seating room next to the entrance, then the bar and a beer garden to the rear. Heavily decorated by photos and bric–a–brac. Being a Ringnes pub the beer selection is limited, but still enough decent breweries to chose from. O’Hara, Kona, Founders and a few German and Belgian bottled beers. Good food options. Friendly service. A central and popular local. (Visited with Johnny, Leif and Dag Erik 05.03.2017).“

“Central location in a backyard. Old brick and wood interiors with a homely feel. Divided into, at least, five smaller rooms with the main bar close to the entrance. Full score in ambiance! Great praise for music from vinyl records, Rolling Stones’ album ""Blue and Lonesome" when we entered the pub, very inviting, indeed. Ten beers on taps, good range of styles and breweries. The tap menu is supported by more than 60 bottles, among them many Belgian ones, including quite a few lambics and gueuze. Friendly, knowledgeable service. (Visited with friends from Hamar, Oslo and Tromsø 03.03.2017).“

“Small cosy place. 10 beers on tap, both norwegian and international, and a small selection of bottles. All beers on tap can be bought on 0.2 and 0.4 litre glass. Rather expensive but beer in Norway allways is. Music from a vinyl player.“

Vinmonopolet Hamar (Beer Store)
UTSTILLINGSPLASSEN, RINGGATA 53
“Located in a supermarket in central Hamar. The best Vinmonopolet I have visited so far. A chilled room with some exclusive beers. Also a big section of beers outside that room. Lots of beers from Nögne, Haandbryggeriet and other Norwegian breweries. Also some interesting bottles from Belgium, Sweden, USA and other countries. Very expensive, but that’s the same in all Vinmonopolet.“

Vinmonopolet Hamar (Beer Store)
UTSTILLINGSPLASSEN, RINGGATA 53
“With the exception of Vika in Oslo and Walkendorf in Bergen this is the best Vinmonopol store I have seen when it comes to selection of bottled beers. A whole wall is devoted to beers, and there are even more bottles in the chilled room (svalrom). Vinmonopolet in Hamar is one of six stores that have got a special status for offering a larger beer choice than other stores belonging to the chain. I found new ones from breweries like BrewDog, Baladin, Ugly Duck, Gauloise, Boulevard and a few Norwegians that I hadn’t tasted before. Service minded and surprisingly knowledgeable staff. It’s located in a shopping centre called CC Mart’n in the Briskeby area, not more that 10 minutes walk from the railway station. We bought about 20 bottles some of them for consumption during the ISU World Allround Speed Skating Championships in Vikingskipet (visited, 15.02.2013).“
