Birreria (Restaurant)

“We visited here Friday 29th December 2023 and parked up outside the restaurant and stayed overnight in Frank in the large car park. I have added this place as a separate entry to the brewery as it is clearly a separate building in its own right and is a restaurant, albeit with small beer shop attached and of course selling all of the Apostlebrau beers along with a few others such as Duvel, a few Camba beers some of which appear to be on draft, Tripel Karmeliet and a few well known others, plus a couple I wasn't aware of from an Italian brewery. We contacted them the day before to reserve a table but there were known issues with the telephone line so we kept getting cut off, we followed it up with an email and our request to book a table and stay overnight in the carpark was responded to swiftly. The restaurant and brewery are a little way out of town on one of the many hills, and on a sharp bend, as mentioned there is a lot of parking. There is a patio area outside and it appears that this building is new'ish' or from what I have read on reviews has been extensively refurbished recently. It is very modern, open plan and despite some stairs up easy access *I think that there may be another entrance for wheelchair access. It is very popular and the portions were large, we both had a pizza, these were very good but huge, the Tomato and Mozzarella Salad however was in a swimming pool of Balsamic vinegar. It appeared that most of the beer range was available and both in bottle and some on draft. Whilst we were here about 25-30 Krampus came marching in, banging drums and creating quite a racket, it was good fun. We liked it here, food good, beer good and surroundings good, but it did appear that the 10pm closure is probably adhered to as when we left there was only a few people in here and that was before 10pm. Btw service good, staff very friendly and prices very reasonable, in fact excellent.“

“Sort of unique & strange place. The brewery restaurant is named Birreria (located next building to the brewery). The brewmaster is Italian! What a choice for Bavaria! So all beers (12) taste a bit different from what you expect from this area. Not saying that they are great, but interesting at least. The best treat here is Granat Weisse (aged in Jack Daniels barrels). Another "strange" thing about the place is that they have NO taps - only bottles (this I can’t understand at all...).“

“Die Apostelbrauerei in Hauzenberg, ist ein Einmann-Betrieb. Der Braumeister heist Max Hirz und hatte 2008 den "silver Awad" für sein Dinkelbier in den USA bekommen. An der Brauerei ist noch ein Museum und eine Kneipe angeschlossen“
