66 /100 OBERLEINLEITER 6 Visited Marts 2008. |
64 /100 MARKTPLATZ 5 Just one Kellerpils which is straight to the point. Very good. |
64 /100 OBERLEINLEITER 6 4 ok beers in traditional gaststatte. Quite comfy with very friendly service. |
70 /100 Heroldsmühle (Restaurant) HEROLDSMÜHLE 3 Heroldsmühle is a restaurant and soon to be hotel in the hills about 20 miles east of Bamberg . It’s one of the few places to offer Gänstaller Kellerbier from tap (also serving Reh Lohndorf products). The proprietor and his family are renovating the property (as of 2014-2015) in order to open a guest house. When that happens, it may be one of the nicer places to stay for Oberfranken beer exploration, though at present the kitchen menu is short, offering mostly pork and potato dishes, as well as smoked trout. |
70 /100 OBERLEINLEITER 6 The Ott pils is nice enough, a 3.2-3.4 range beer for me, mostly clean but a little off in terms of flavor expression. The folks running the brewery were good sports and kindly put up with our poor German as we asked for draft pours of the pils from inside, rather than buy bottles from the brewery direct. The guy who came back with two mugs of beer probably was pouring it from a bottle inside where we couldn’t see him, and that’s okay, he delivered fresh beer into our hands and we were grateful. |
70 /100 MARKTPLATZ 5 Visited 10.45 Monday 13.10.14 to the best of my knowledge not a local holiday, however the place was fairly full with about 40 men & 1 woman most of whom looked to be of working age, but were otherwise engaged drinking beer and playing cards in a lively fashion. Beer was acceptable. I imagine that if I had arrived to find just 2 other customers my score would be about 15 points lower. Great atmosphere. |
60 /100 MARKTPLATZ 5 Visited during Kirwa. Both the place and the patio outside were packed with friendly locals, enjoying their Spezial or Bockbier in the warm october afternoon sun. Excellent Brotzeit platter, beers were also in good shape. Basic Franconian interior. |
80 /100 OBERLEINLEITER 6 Siamo stati qua ad inizio ottobre bel posto con una birra sottovalutata la edel pils e un’altra grande birra obaladara... La export aveva qualche punta di diacetile... |
82 /100 OBERLEINLEITER 6 Ok I’m the first !! Visited Wednesday 8th oct .. It’s a classic Franconia gasthtatte /brewery quite large and it seemed to me modern or recently refurbished ... The lady who served us was nice and she spoke a bit of English .. But we knew why we were there and we didn’t need more words then " Zwei pils bitte ! "!! We are lucky enough to get the chance of drinking Ott Edel Pils quite often in our local place in Italy and we love it !!! It has been served in the classic pils glass ( that I don’t love too much ) and was really really good !!! We tried the export that was just ok with a hint of diacetyl and the dunkel obaladara which was another great beer !! We had just something like bread with butter and cheese as sneak of mid afternoon but they serve an extensive menu .. Good place with a incredibly underrated great Pils !! |
50 /100 MARKTPLATZ 5 The Stammtisch is full of childrens toys and the walls are adorned with ice cream bar advertisements. Achinger made only the landbier for years, but now they have a Heller Bock on tap in the winter. I had the landbier and found it had strong DMS. Sad to find the beer quality lacking. |
52 /100 MARKTPLATZ 5 Simple, faceless and dim rural Gasthof, serving their own beer; some tables in front of the brewpub, facing the little town’s marketplace. Not a must, but a quite nice stop when You’re exploring the "Franconian Switzerland" (Fränkische Schweiz); Aufsess, Heckenhof, Hochstahl and Waischenfeld are not far away...... |
