72 /100 Family Liquors (Beer Store) 18707 S DIXIE HWY Small place with a great selection. Surly, Three Floyds, Maine Beer, Pipeworks, Giganitic, Hoppin Frog in addition to many others. Prices seemed par for the couse. I did not ask for help nor was it offered. Definitely the best selection in the area. |
80 /100 2131 W 183RD ST Pretty good place. Small, cozy sports bar feel. Was really busy on a Thursday evening. Pretty good tap list with things like Solemn Oath, Three Floyds, Surly, Port Brewing, etc. No prices were listed and I thought proces were a bit high on beer, $6 - $7 for a draft. Food menu was mostly bar type food and pizza. Food was VERY inexpensive. Service was prompt and as friendly as i need it. This will definitely be a regular stop when I am in the area. |
88 /100 Homewood Liquors (Beer Store) 18222 S HALSTED ST Best liquor/beer store in the area. Good selection of beer. |
70 /100 Family Liquors (Beer Store) 18707 S DIXIE HWY An unexpectedly good beer selection. A nice selection of lost abbey and port brewing stuff I can’t get in indiana. Prices were better than most places I’ve seen. Worth swinging by if you are headed out to flossmoor. |
64 /100 Family Liquors (Beer Store) 18707 S DIXIE HWY Small but good selection, has some Lost Abbey, Green Flash and Lagunitias stuff I can not get in Indiana. Worth a stop if going to Flossmoor which is less than 5 minutes away. |
72 /100 Family Liquors (Beer Store) 18707 S DIXIE HWY in the 80’s and 90’s i used to live within walking distance of this shop, and would buy my macros and parodi cigars here. they have upgraded here, and now have a couple shelves of bombers, a good number of which i have not yet rated, and a big humidor of good cigars. i will have to come back to see if they rotate their stock often. besides, they still have a few mikkeller’s bombers for me to try. unfortunately, i no longer can walk to this shop. i can’t walk anywhere, except to cornfields, from this god forsaken place i have chosen to live. why? why must i suffer so? ...but i digress. |
66 /100 Family Liquors (Beer Store) 18707 S DIXIE HWY Small but quality selection of beers. Mark pretty well covered what they handle. It’s worth dropping by if you’re in the area and need some good beers. But beware of the owner. He’s a movie buff, and he & I ended up talking for over an hour about old flicks and movie stars. Don’t go out of your way, but do stop in if in the area. |
72 /100 Family Liquors (Beer Store) 18707 S DIXIE HWY Very friendly people but unfortunately they had removed most of their beer aisle to accomodate a wine tasting and the beer guy was already at Dark Lord Day where I was heading next. Hard to judge selection, but I did find several bombers that were sold out elsewhere, which is a mixed blessing considering age of product. Hard to give a fair rating, but not a bad place at all. |
68 /100 Family Liquors (Beer Store) 18707 S DIXIE HWY Gotta love the dichotomy of a "family" liqour store. But seriously, this is a nice little place just a few doors down from Coldstone Creamery on Homewood’s "south side." Just two aisles, but a corner with a well chosen selection of beers not found elsewhere in this area. Off the top of my head, I find Floyds, Lagunitias, Rogue, Dogfish Head, Abita, SKA, Ommegang, Spaten, Rochfort and other Belgians. Prices for the bombers run about 50 cents less than other liquor stores. They advertise wine tastings on Friday, with beer tasting the last Friday of the month, but I haven’t encountered them. My closest source for some good bottled beers, many of which I haven’t tried yet. |
