“Rather unusual chalet style building with an enviable riverside location - the Thames Path actually crosses the pub’s patio - but a Sam Smiths pub that doesn’t bother to serve its sole cask ale isn’t really my scene so didn’t linger. The London Apprentice, with an equally fine riverside location, is only a little way downstream and, whilst the beer range isn’t the most exciting, it does provide some choice.“

“Visited on 17 April 2016. A pleasant, historic pub with a lovely riverside location. The terrace overlooking the river is the prime spot on a sunny day. There’s also additional riverside seating adjacent to the car park if the terrace is full. Foremerly a Taylor Walker pub, it’s now under Greene King / Spirit ownership. Six handpumps dispense some Green King staples plus three guests. These included two ticks for me - but they were from Cottage & St Austell, which gives you some idea of what to expect. Unfortunately, the beer condition wasn’t perfect - both beers were slightly cloudy and the Cottage was tasting distinctly tired. Nothing of particular interest on the keg lines. Service was welcoming and efficient. They were doing a brisk food trade on saunday lunchtime but we didn’t eat. By no means a beer destination but definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area and probably the best selection you’ll find in Isleworth.“

“Ale range is well kept but the usual suspects - Doom, Price, GKIPA - plus a house pale ale and one or two guests. Traditional pubby decor, good staff and a lovely location by the river - prices seem a little high for the area though.“

“Certainly the best place to get a Youngs ale in the Isleworth area, this pub is perhaps the least attractive of several pubs all within walking distance of each other, but has its own loyal customers. It’s a fairly ordinary affair inside, although there’s an add on conservatory which is probably the best place to eat in if you take up any of the menu. It does have a large picnic table area to its side although it’s still a fairly urban experience given it forms the corner of the main road that heads south to Twickenham.“

“Located as one of a clutch of pubs all in the Old Isleworth area, this one has an attractive Tudor style exterior, and its the windows of these that are a feature of the main drinking area behind it. With its fireplace and old world charm it is a modern pub using historic style to great effect. As a Fuller’s pub it serves its own ales but food is big here too, as is live sport which gets people in.“

“A Samuel Smiths bar so you can only get their drinks and ales at this pub, however the location and style of this bar is certainly worth a look. Its wooden exterior and patio over the river certainly make this pub stand out in a city full of brick and stone buildings. It has two floors although the ground floor is rarely used, but the top bar has better views anyway. It’s possible to look down at the Isleworth Ait and watch the tide come in and out of the river whilst you sup. This is also the last point of the river which is tidal. The drinks are dirt cheap by London standard and there’s no shortage of seats, which you’ll have your pick of during a weekday.“

“Located in a fine position commanding views both ways at a bend in the river, this pub is situated in the oldest part of Isleworth with its church, historic housing and Sion Park all on its doorstep. The pub itself proclaims King Henry VIII used to stop here on his trips too and from London from Hampton Court. Its terrace is a great to drink, but inside is just as nice with its main room a wooden furniture affair with a low ceiling and classic older world style. A second room is slightly more suited to dining, but not exclusive. Ales are prominent at the bar with Adnams a favourite brewer. There is an upstairs section too.“

“Gorgeous location, right on the river Thames. Tons of outside seating overlooking the river, with lots of tables inside, too. There are six casks, basic but good, in addition to the standard kegs and assorted bottles. Prices are just slightly above average, though I suppose for the area that is to be expected. The crowd is pretty upscale. Great for the atmosphere, OK for the beers. As an aside, I saw a young boy, aged somewhere between seven and nine, wearing a Che Guevara T-shirt, so that’s the type of parent (adult) that frequents this place (and I don’t mean revolutionary parents, but idiot parents). Worth checking out if you’re in the area. Certainly a nice place to relax with an easy session beer.“

“Given its location on a residential backstreet, this place has a strong local vibe. It’s spacious with lots of eclectic seating options inside and some picnic benches out front. There are eight casks with a decent - though not outstanding on my visit - range of beers. All pretty standard stuff. Barmaids are extremely...unpretentious. Average to good prices. A solid spot. This place would make a great local. They have a fishtank, too, and what is probably one of the best backyard beer gardens I’ve seen in the UK. Definitely worth your while to trek out here sometime.“

“A nice local backstreet boozer, which happens to have a great selection of cask ale (around 8 rotating pumps). It is a bit dead at times, but its great when they have beer festivals and stuff. Theres a nice sized beer garden, which is nice in the summer, if you can handle the noise of the planes heading towards Heathrow. A nice pub though.“
