78 /100 57, HYANGGYO-GIL, WANSAN-GU Cozy, tasteful cafe near river on the edge of the Hanok village. 10 of their beers on tap, with three sizes of glass including tasters and tasting sets available. Free popcorn was a nice touch. All the beers were good and we met the brewer as well. Great place. |
70 /100 Suje maekju si (수제맥주시) (Bar) 115-6, 1(IL)-GA, GYEONGWONDONG, WANSAN-GU Nice little bar with a range of local craft beer made in Jeonju. The brewery name seems to be variously romanized to Sulocity and Soolcity. They have four taps, three their own - a Pilsner, an IPA and a Stout. It was empty early on a quiet Monday evening in November. However the staff were very friendly, although I was really glad to have a Korean speaker with me. The bar is through a nondescript door off a busy street and up one flight of stairs. As a foreigner it was rather off-putting, but well worth pressing on. It’s a cosy little bar. A stand out feature for me was that you could take away the beer from the taps in cans - they have a small canning system behind the bar. I think there was food, but I’d didn’t try it. (NB, the map seems to have placed this in central Seoul. It is in Jeonju. I’ll try to figure out how to fix this.) |
