50 /100 John Bull Pub (Bar) LOSSIPARK 4 Last time I was there about year or two ago they didn't have anything interesting at all, all the same beers that every other tourist trap in the center had. Maybe it was better before... |
62 /100 John Bull Pub (Bar) LOSSIPARK 4 It's been a good place for food and beers for decade. Maybe one of the pubiest pubs in whole town.
Worth a visit. |
90 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Lovely restaurant located under a windmill. Has a good range of beers from all the island breweries and the food is excellent - this was my favourite meal during two weeks in the Baltics. I had the local draft 'Homemade Beer) and it was very nice. Prices are on the high side but worth it.
Recommended. |
48 /100 John Bull Pub (Bar) LOSSIPARK 4 Small bar near the castle with a food menu too. Beer selection is mainly Saku but there are a couple of Pöide bottled beers. Excellent garlic bread, but not so much the beer. |
70 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Really interesting venue and nice ambience, staff were friendly and helpful. Pihtla taluolu on tap along with full range of Pihtla and Pöide bottles plus a couple of other local micros. Not cheap though. |
56 /100 Kohvik Retro (Bar) LOSSI 5 No craft on tap when we visited, couple of Purtse bottles in the fridge but otherwise nothing too interesting. Decent enough place to sit and enjoy a beer but only stayed for one. |
30 /100 Pritsumaja (Bar) TALLINNA 4 I've been here. That's what martjoobolut says. |
42 /100 Pritsumaja (Bar) TALLINNA 4 Located in the center, bar under old fire station. Service is not really friendly and kind of typical for saaremaa. Selection is only macro and some Pöide. Didn't try food. Prices are not cheap. Overall. there is no reason why this place should be in ratebeer. |
70 /100 Saaremaakera (Restaurant) LOSSI 17 Big outdoor place in the center. The same spot as ujh and öu before. Friendly services. Good prices, taps limited to about 5-6, some craft and macro in the fridge. Great food set up, but didn't try. Overall: one of my current favorites in Kuressaare (note: it is probably open only during summer). |
50 /100 Kohvik Retro (Bar) LOSSI 5 Place at the center. Must have been an extra slow service day or they just didn't like lone Estonians, but i waited at least 20 minutes, probably even more before my existence was even acknowledged (and they didn't have many customers!). Selection has some craft from bottles, no pihtla on tap. Smoked fish was decent. Prices for beer in the high side, food reasonable considering the location. Overall: i really hate when my existence is basically ignored, so no revisit....has a couple of craft, but otherwise no real reason to go besides food. |
60 /100 Grand Rose SPA Hotel (Restaurant) TALLINNA 15 Visited summer garden. It's basically in the center of town. Good service. Restaurant prices, but not stupid. Tap had only saku originaal, but some local craft available in bottle. Tried only garlic bread, which was decent, portion was huge. Over: way more food place than beer place, but not a bad place to have a pint. |
62 /100 Mönus Villem Pubi (Bar) TALLINNA 63B Pub medium walk away from the center (a long one by Kuressaare standards!). Beer selection is decent for Kuressaare, but mostly belgians and macros, so not very interesting. Beer prices are not cheap, food is reasonable. Portions are big, food is ok. Overall: ok, but not really a beer destination (unless you need hoegaarden or chimay fix). |
62 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Kind of touristy place in the center of the town. Service was ok, kind of typical for Kuressaare, quite slow and not very friendly. Food is decent, beer selection is Pihtla, some local micros and macros. Prices are tourist oriented, but not too bad. Overall: ok, I guess. |
62 /100 Mönus Villem Pubi (Bar) TALLINNA 63B Went here for a hangover breakfast. Place was full and this was around 11ish in the morning. But service was quick and everything went smoothly. Food was nice. Beer selection is pretty much standard Wana Villem chain one. Lots of macro craft. |
64 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Very nice (and touristic) place to eat tasty Estonian food and drink some Pihtla koduõlu. They also have some other Estonian craft beers. Inexpensive and beautiful place. (Visited in June 2016) |
50 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Fairly centrally located and worth having a look at, at least for trying the Pihtla. Strange service, fairly interesting place, but not very cozy or relaxed. Worth having a look (and Pihtla), but can’t say I’d go back. |
70 /100 Kohvik Retro (Bar) LOSSI 5 Cool place centrally located in Kuressaare. Surprisingly good selection of beer and the lamb burger we tried was quite delicious. Pleasant atmosphere and certainly worth a visit. |
74 /100 Kohvik Retro (Bar) LOSSI 5 One the main street of the Kuressaare. Hard to miss, although sign ain’t big enough. Vibe is and this should drag you here. Interior looks like name says. Moderately full of things, what every household had in Soviet Estonia.
Staff, especially one young man, are full professionals. He knows the beer and local market. Don’t be afraid to ask recommendations.
Place where I’d rather spend an evening than ticking beers. |
50 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Settled into a traditional Saaremaa/Dutch style, limestone built, windmill. Name basically translates to Windmill Tavern. Neo-retro style interior. We got here after busy hours, just before closing time. They could easily kick us out, but they didn’t. Selection is Pihtla and macros. Service as slow as Estonian sex- if one of them moved, thats a bonus. Eventually we got why we came here (Pihtlas). For tourists- yes, for locals- no. PS. Don’t leave you six-pack of macros outside next to anybodys car, it gets stolen. |
74 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Went there with my family. Nice enough ambiance with the stone tables and alll, but the Estonian "evergreens" coming from the broken speaker on the ceiling above were slightly annoying. Servie was fast and friendly. They had 5 different beers from Saaremaa, 6 normal Estonian beers, 15 Estonian craft beers, 3 Estonian ciders and 2 international beers. A selection which is, for a restaurant, excellent if you ask me. The food was tasty. The local Pihtla beer they serve costs 3,50 for 500ml, while a 33cl bottle of Estonian craft beer costs 4-6 EUR, which IS pricey, but still acceptable for a restaurant... I guess. Overall an okay venue on Saaremaa. |
66 /100 Kohvik Retro (Bar) LOSSI 5 OK, I’m a retro kind of person, so I like this right off the bat. I can forgive the vinyl being relegated to decoration, as they were playing music that shows they respect the music from that era. Has a very easy relaxed cafe feel too it, but with slightly subdued lighting to make it even mellower. Liked the double-fridge at the end - there was plenty of interesting beers in the fridge, new ones, classic locals, and international favourites. Staff friendly. Prices reflect the town-centre location, similar to Tallinn. Easy to find, too, as Lossi is the main drag towards the castle. My #1 spot in Kuressaare now, I think, I wish I visited here more often. |
60 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Old review: Beautiful venue. Didn’t have Pihtla even listed when I was there a couple of years back. If they do now, then that makes it worthy of listing. Food was great. Update: Had pihtla! Plus two of the new variants. Also had other Estonian micros - good stuff! Food again excellent. You could see some of the staff had blonde roots, but all confusion was resolved eventually. Worth a few extra points this time. |
60 /100 Grand Rose SPA Hotel (Restaurant) TALLINNA 15 SPA is OK. Food is good. They have Pihtla on tap in the SPA. That is what matters. Make sure it is fresh before cashing out. |
68 /100 Veski Trahter (Restaurant) PÄRNA 19 Veski Trather means "Windmill tavern" in Estonian and for a good reason, it’s located in an old, 17 meter tall windmill, in the heart of Kuressaare. In fact, this is the oldest tavern in Kuressaare, having been in operation since 1974, offering guests the opportunity to eat their meal on the balcony around the windmill or inside. Tables on the ground are made out of solid grind stones, a charming touch. I had dinner here one day, enjoying a hearty wild boar casserole. The tavern also normally offers the local speciality beer, Pihtla, on draft but had ran out when I visited so I had to settle for A Le Coq Premium. Still, it was a highly enjoyable meal at the mill. 60 /100 Grand Rose SPA Hotel (Restaurant) TALLINNA 15 Grand Rose SPA Hotel is a brand new hotel located a few minutes walk north east of the market square in Kuressaare. In the back it has a large outdoor seating area, serving as a restaurant in the summer, with a small smokery (they smoke their own daily catch of fish!) and a bar, where they offer "Home-made beer". This beer turned out to be the Pihtla farmhouse ale from Oü Taako. I enjoyed several glasses of this delicious ale, which went really well with the smoked flounder dish I ordered. Though the place looks like the SPA hotel it is, you’ll get some great food and beer here. Visited on 2013-07-11. |
56 /100 Mönus Villem Pubi (Bar) TALLINNA 63B This is a fairly large, English style pub about 1 km north east of old town Kuressaare. I didn’t actually have a beer, I just asked for directions to places serving locally produced beer (since they had none) and was pleasantly surprised by the informative and positive response from the bartender. But I had time to count the 5 taps of beer, offering Budvar, Guinness, Leffe and just one Estonian beer (Saku). |
