“Becoming “the” place in Lansing (that’s my opinion but I’m far from a expert on the dining, entertainment scene). A nice place with good food and decent beer. Both are pricey but we have not been disappointed the many times we visited.“

“11/3/18 (Lansing, MI): Stopped in for a quick pint, nice family owned and operation brew pub in Lansing. A dozen brewed tap offerings, including a few cask conditioned which is a nice option. I had one cask conditioned beer which was good. My brother tried a flight, with beers ranging from poor to good. Tons of mugs on the ceiling for holders of their mug club. They offer food, and the pizza other customers had smelled good and looked decent. Service friendly, prompt, they like talking about beer and their offerings, very nice. Overall nice local place if you are in the Lansing area.“

“A sprawling rambling marketplace... Supermarket, garden center, nursery (plants), bulk food market, beer and wine purveyor, plus great deli pizza's, sandwiches, gelato bar. Outstanding beer selection of all stripes - local craft brews, national craft, regionals and imports. Open taps.Outstanding selection. Prices are very reasonable and in line with most other bottle shops.“

“Visited on an MSU game day, they had two TVs up with the game. Bartender was very friendly and attentive and was well prepared to make recommendations and offer samples. Flights are pick as many as you please for $2 each. $1 beers on MSU game days if you wear your MSU gear. Brewery is small with a small patio. Food truck was non on site when I visited. Mostly street parking and close to Old Town if you need a good bite before hand. Worth a visit back, and looking forward to seeing their beers grow.“

“THE place to buy beer. Super huge selection. And you can get draft and shop in one of the best grocery stores around. Build your own six pack from anything in selection.“

Horrocks Farm Market (Grocery Store)

“Horrocks has a huge assortment. Probably close to 2,000 choices. They reorganized their stock to make it more logical to search, but a newcomer must still ask if they want to understand the layout. You owe it to yourself to check out every shelf. There is a bar serving 50 beers from their taps in the store and offer samples. They also have a greenhouse out back that’s been converted into a tavern. That venue hosts food trucks and an occasional band or DJ. Horrocks also offers pizzas made on site. The only demerit is on "ambience" because how do rate ambience at a grocery store that serves draft beer? I can’t score it high as a place to have a beer, but as a grocery store (which this is) how much better does it get than to 1) sample from 50 beers; 2) buy a pint or half-pint to drink while you shop for groceries or 3) just come in for a beer in their tavern or patio (which have little ambience) or fill a growler; or browse 2,000 beers with something new every week? Where else can you browse nearly 2,000 beers AND drink while you buy groceries? And they also have plants and trees in their outdoors department to compete with Lowe’s & Home Depot. I appreciate places like Siliciano’s in Grand Rapids, which gets lots of love on RateBeer, and the Whole Foods chain, but Horrock’s kicks their asses for beer lovers. If you are a beer hound and you are anywhere near Lansing, Michigan you must check out Horrock’s. Full disclosure: I’m addicted to this place. . . for good reasons.“

“I’ve been here a few times. Probably your best choice in Lansing. The beer is above average. I’ve only had some appetizers, if the rest of the menu is that good it’s a worthwhile dinner destination. They opened October 2015 and still seem to be attracting crowds. That’s a good thing.“

“Place was packed. Glad to see local breweries so supported. Inside is nice, lots of wood accents. Nice bar top area, but ended up sitting in the back room. Good number of TVs if you’re hoping to catch a game. Food menu was small, but good. Felt like a good value for a burger and a flight.“

“A dump. But whatever. Good selection. A bit unorganized but I like to look around. Solid build-your-own-six-pack selection, and the beer I picked up was recently bottled.“

“Excellent food, but I go here most often for the beer.
They seem to actually select the beer intentionally. Most places seem to use darts, or the ’what’s cheap’ method.
On a recent trip the wife and I had
Sleepwalker Sorachi Ace
Founders Redankulous
and we split a Dark Horse Scary Jesus Rockstar.
That’s 3 out of the 12 taps they have! If you’re looking for something unusual on tap, this is your place.
The bar is small, and very busy, but the service is always top notch. “

“One word describes this place. Ordinary. The beer is plain and un-exciting. I’m sure it meets the BJCP style guide, but it’s just boring. I go back every 6 months or so, after I forget how little I liked it the last time. Lansing does not have a lot of choices. That’s the only reason to go.“

“hid place has evolved since it changed over from its connection with the Michigan Brewing Co. They haven’t added taps to compete but have really upped their food game. Instead of going there for beer I go for the food.“

“Decent selection available as singles with prices that were well above average. Managed to find a few I hadn’t seen before but at the prices I wasn’t looking that hard. Service was okay. Store is cramped and you’re constantly bumping into someone.“

“This place was hard to find as my GPS led me astray and down the wrong MT Hope and that road was closed so I had to circle back around. Set a bit off the beaten path once I found it. Eight beers on tap and I ordered the full flight and did not finish a single brew on the sampler. Service was okay and they had a nice game room in back.“

“Only 3 of their brews available, all of which were delicious (Golgoltha Belgian Black [IPA], Descension Dry Hop Amber & At Wit’s End [Belgian Wit]). A selection of other breweries offered, including a fantastic mead (John Lemon). Currently the brewpub in Lansing / East Lansing offering the best locally brewed beer.“

“The first worthwhile brewery in Lansing / East Lansing area. The food and beer are good. Simple place, home-like atmosphere with bar games available. Highly kid-friendly during the day with craft sodas. Very reasonable lifetime mugclub membership available. Highly approachable owners, often available for conversation.“

“was there on Friday night with brother and nephew. simple building not sure what it was before they moved in but seems adequate. the place was packed though. found a couple stools at the bar. talked to the owner for a little bit but he was busy. they make their own root beer, cream ale and orange which satisfied my brother and nephew. the beers were all pretty decent. I think the delta porter was the star of the show though. we only had some bread sticks which were pretty good. loved the sauce. seen others eating pizza. not a big menu but enough. i’ll go back again in the future.“

“Lots of beer and occasionally tons of it (palate loads of hopslam for example). The layout is really annoying and seems haphazard. They probably have the best selection of international beers in the area though. I didn’t see a ton of really special stuff but I could have come on the wrong day. The market is on the other side of town for me and the parking and checkout are always super time consuming and frustrating. That being said, they have a big selection and the non-beer portion of the market is great.“

“IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE A 0 I WOULD! THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD AT A RESTAURANT. THE FOOD WAS NOT GREAT AND THEY WERE OUT OF MOST BEERS. I’VE NEVER BEEN HARASSED BY RESTAURANT STAFF BEFORE AND THE GENERAL MANAGER WAS COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATE I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY AS A GUEST. HE SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF HIMSELF.“

“midtown Beer company, formally MBC Downtown Lansing has finally got their class C license which means not only do we serve Michigan Craft Beer but also Michigan Wines and Michigan liquors! We know that many of you who were in here before our switch were high disappointed by our very light inventory, which we apologize for as we were not able to buy any more beer without conflict of our brewers license. Now all 14 taps are filled, and the back bar has been taken over by numerous liquors and wines. The brewers license is on its way and our menu will be updated in the near future! We hope that those who come back are as excited as we are for the many great changes that are to come!“

“Sports bar; usually busy. Wife and I quit going there when I got into craft beer a few years ago and they didnt offer any. Heard they expanded their beer selection, so we ate there recently. They only had a few craft beers on tap (or maybe the waitress didnt know of them), in contrast to what their webpage shows. They did not have a beer list at the table; when asked, the waitress got a list from the bar printed on a cash register receipt...tacky! Service was otherwise good, even though they were crowded. Food was good. Go for the food or to watch the game with friends, but craft beer doesnt get much emphasis. They have another location in Okemos.“

“A bar that uses the "we don’t take ourselves seriously" marketing angle. Their website says if Walmart had a bar, this would be it. That describes it. No draft beer. No bottles. Just cans: about 50 choices at cheap prices. And don’t expect a big food menu, either. Choose from chili dogs, grilled cheese, chips, etc. They offer a $6 Happy Meal: a chili dog, a PBR, and a shot of Jack Daniels.“

Taps 25 (Bar)
414 E MICHIGAN AVE
“I believe this could be the first attempt at a true craft beer bar in Lansing. The bar is located downtown near the minor league baseball park on the same block as a sports bar and another bar called the Tin Can that calls itself the Walmart of bars. Taps 25 has a traditional, narrow, old-fashioned "shotgun" layout and, most importantly, has more than 25 brews on tap. It offers few choices for the BMC crowd; almost all taps are dedicate to good beers. It is no nonsense, beer and liquor. This is a drinking bar . . . they offer only a few appetizers.“

“My go to place in Lansing for friendly service, great Michigan craft beer and outstanding food, breakfast through dinner. Twelve taps, all dedicated to craft beer and most often all dedicated to Michigan craft beer. Firkin tappings on the first Friday of each month began in February 2012 with Bell’s Two Hearted Ale - next up is The Poet oatmeal stout by New Holland on Friday, March 2, 2012. I think Hop Rocket by Arcadia Ales is the April firkin offering.“
