76 /100 160 LAWRENCEVILLE-PENNINGTON RD. - SUITE 4. Visited here this past Friday evening at around 6pm. Arrived to find the place jam-packed from wall to wall with a long line to reach the bar to secure some brews. So, we ducked out and went down the road to grab some dinner at the local Italian restaurant to kill some time, before returning for a second attempt. We arrived back at around 7:30 to find the place was still rather crowded but were able to quickly order some brews and grab one of the tables that just opened up. The place is rather small, with a bar that has 10 stools and about 10 additional tables. Normally, there are 10 tap offerings to choose from. Tonight's offerings included 3 IPA's, a Pils, a Cream Ale, a Porter, a Sour Ale, an Imperial Hefeweizen and a Hard Seltzer. I tried the Am I Citra Too? Hazy IPA and found it quite satisfying. My second choice was the Ports Ahoy Porter, which was very tasty as well. Judging from the boisterous crowd, the beers were all well received by the patrons. The brewery is located in the Manor Corners Shopping Center, which also houses a few food establishments including a Bagel Shop as well as Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Jamaican restaurants. Definitely worth checking out this new brewpub if you in the area. |
68 /100 175 S. PERRY STREET Bar a block or so from the square in Lawrenceville. Big bar area and lots of tables, with a big biergarten out back. They've got a food truck each day, plus burgers from their own kitchen. The bartender was quick and friendly. A surprisingly good selection on tap, with primarily quality local and regional stuff. A nice addition to the area! |
84 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 This is the best beer selection you are going to find in the Princeton, NJ area. |
80 /100 407 N. CLAYTON ST. Interior is rough, roomy and unpretentious. Servers make you feel welcome. Beers are drinkable and enjoyable. They serve only snacks, but do have rotating food trucks. This is a good place for a small gathering or a large one, and all points in between. Take your tome and enjoy the slow pour. |
70 /100 407 N. CLAYTON ST. Nice, big building on the north side of Lawrenceville. Huge taproom area, with some eclectic furnishings and dim lighting. The bartenders are quick and friendly. 12 of their own beers, and no guest beers. A pretty nice spread of styles. Good prices, with each one priced individually for small and full pours, and $10 for a flight of four. This is a nice little gem, without much competition in the area. |
78 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 Solid beerstore if you are in the area. Good parking. Nice selection. |
64 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 i was in the area without much choice of where to go and this place was nearby. Like a slightly dirtier, messier Total Wine.
Coolers on the wall across from a long row of singles and sixes. Decent selection of NE regionals. I overheard other customers looking for suggestions and it seemed the staff had little clue as to what to advise, other than to sell them some beer. |
74 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 Like a Total Wine but with a very small selection of singles. They did have more high end stuff like Lost Abbey and Bruery sours. Prices seemed decent. |
84 /100 Local Republic (Bar) 225 W CROGAN ST Great little place in downtown Lawrenceville. Food is the best in town, and the beer selection, although not the biggest, is superb. My only complaint is it can get quite crowded and the interior is a bit on the smaller side. Other than that (and the wait on a weekend night) there really is any negative I can say about this place. Tip: Sit on the patio if it’s nice outside. Not nearly as crowded and a little more relaxed. |
66 /100 The Georgia Pine (Restaurant) 1250 SCENIC HWY; STE 1240 Nice restaurant in the Avenue on Webb Gin. High ceilings and spacious area. The server was helpful and friendly, but not terribly knowledgeable about the beer. The taps are exclusively GA local beer, and a good selection of those. Not Hopsecutioner and Sweetwater 420, but stuff from Jekyll, Cherry Street, and specials from Red Hare and Terrapin. The food was very tasty. The food is a little pricy, but the beer is priced well. Overall, this is a nice restaurant that puts some serious effort into their beer list. |
78 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 I was a little disappointed, to be honest. I expected a larger, better organized craft beer offering than I found. Decent amount of the common varieties but nothing too shocking. I liked their selection of singles.
Worth a stop if you are in the area but not worth seeking out. |
84 /100 Local Republic (Bar) 225 W CROGAN ST Local Republic is a great local spot they have a good selection of craft beers on tap. no big names or bottles so the selection is constantly changing.
The food is great, they have a number of unique burgers. A steak sandwich which is really good. they usually have a Bone in Ribeye special which is a little pricey but worth every penny! |
82 /100 Local Republic (Bar) 225 W CROGAN ST Small building just off the Lawrenceville square. Nice interior, with big windows and a artwork for sale on the walls. The waitstaff and bartenders are friendly and helpful, but not that knowledgeable of the beer. The beer, however, is great. There aren’t many taps, but the selection is great. The beers rotate frequently, and there isn’t a bad beer on the list. The beers are a little overpriced. The food is excellent. Overall, this place needs more seating (but they are building a patio area, so I guess they know this), but the beer selection is the best I’ve found in Gwinnett. I’ll be back, when I’m in town. |
76 /100 Exhibit A(le) (Beer Store) 178 EAST CROGAN STREET, SUITE 210 Nice, old storefront. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. The selection is very nice, with a good selection of locals and rarer beers. It seems that this place breaks away from the standard growler shop list, and gets some pretty good stuff. The prices are pretty standard. They offer generous samples for $1.50 each or $5 for 4. This is easily the best beer shop in the Lawrenceville area. Worth a visit, and maybe a hang out and chat. |
72 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 I used to stop by here on my way home after work. Great selection of craft with a decent selection of singles as well. No complaints here - one of the better Canal’s I’ve been to. |
80 /100 Local Republic (Bar) 225 W CROGAN ST Small gastro pub style eatery right on the Lawrenceville Square. Really a hidden gem in a land where hardly good beer is to be found. Really good food at good prices. The tap selection, although limited, was extremely impressive. (Had Mikkeler SLH when I was there). There are no bottles, so I imagine, the taps will rotate frequently. Overall, I was impressed and will be going back when I visit the folks again. |
86 /100 Local Republic (Bar) 225 W CROGAN ST When you walk in, you know that this is an intimate, laid-back, unpretentious neighborhood bar. Decor is minimal, and the music is just loud enough to hear but does not interfere with conversation. There are no TV sets, so no distractions from sporting events. Waitstaff are very helpful and alert, and quick to bring you your beer orders. Food is very good and reasonably priced, and worth the wait. If you love burgers and good beer, this is a must!
The beers they have on-tap are top-of-the-line craft brews and imports. You won’t find any megabrews here, not even Guinness or Samuel Adams. Their beer list changes frequently, so you have a good chance of finding something you haven’t sampled before. From time to time they allow craft brewers to take over the place, so get on their mailing list if you live in the neighborhood!
Overall, an excellent, cozy neighborhood bar. |
68 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 I’ve been to this Canals more then a handful of times. They have a growler station with 4-5 different offerings. Lots of six packs in a wall of coolers. To the opposite are the singles/ 22oz/ 750s on another wall of shelves. Overall decent selection with some random limited release beers. I stop by whenever i pass just to see what’s going on. never go out of my way to go here. |
70 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 A huge big box type of liquor store with a long cooler full of single bottles and six packs .... small selection of single bottles that was semi-organized ... lots of US micros and some foreign (fantome, mikkeller, don de ciel) as well as some current releases.... found some sam adams triple bock 1994 there although thats not much to brag about .... all in all the prices were ok and if your looking for some rare finds from micros they have them but super saver in pennington had a much better selection. |
84 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 big-box style shopping; but HUGE variety and knowledgeable staff. optional membership program, and a wine/beer classes and a tasting room bring up the ambiance. |
72 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 Large liquor with some great beers, large enough you can usually find stuff many other stores have run out of but rare stuff still goes quickly. |
78 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 This is definitely above your average liquor store. Prices were reasonable, some were even great deals. Looks like a typical warehouse store. You can buy singles, sixers and cases. My only suggestion is that you bring a second picture ID. The girl behind the counter asked for a second form of picture ID after I gave her a delaware state license. I seriously almost laughed. That has never happened to me before and had I not had my old college ID on me, I don’t know what would have happened. Overall good store and one of the best selections in the immediate area. |
90 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 HUGE store.. best selection I have seen; however, I haven’t been to that many large beer stores so I have no comparison. |
90 /100 Joe Canal’s - Lawrenceville (Beer Store) 3375 US RT 1 One of my top three goto places in my area in the North East rt. 1 corridor. Great selection, pretty good prices, and the staff, well, don’t bother them. They’re much more interested in selling wine, but you wouldn’t know it from the beer stock. Great stuff here: Oskar Blues, Victory, Stone, great Divide, DFH, and lots more. Great singles selection. Surpassed only by Canal’s in Burlington, NJ and Circle Liquors Super Saver, Pennington. |
