“Cozy but out-of-time traditional pub room. Food was really great traditional German but the accompanying beers were sadly a little bit flat. Friendly and obliging service. We stayed quite a long time also entertained by the music of the schwyzerdütsch birthday party in the other room. Nice for dropping by and having a good meal at a very fair price.“

“The hotel/restaurant is definitely in the " German grandparents with german Kinder" style, and it is definitely the last place I’ve been in with NO wifi connection. Not to mention a TV with no channels on... But then the meal was absoluty great, of a really high quality. Accompagnied by a very good choice of beers, including the on-draught-only Zwickel, this was a memorable stay. All beers are available at the hotel.“

“Strange to be knighted "mayor" of the only brewery+brewpub on our way out south hiking into Hinterzarten and the Black Forest... Getting here in winter is quite a chore and takes some preparation comparing train and bus schedules, as the last 2-3kms up the hill are dangerous to walk on foot. I can imagine the views from the brewery’s premises are spectacular but we arrived after sunset. - Cozy little brewpub, comfortably stuck in tradition, exclusively led by the Rogg family, which poses minor service problems on a SAT night in high (snow) season..Big plus: all beers brewed are on offer from draught (4-5) or in bottles (5 more), apart from their Hefeweizen I found these rather unspectacular and should probably not be your ultimate goal for the trip. Food is tasty, standard value traditional fare (pre-salad + steak/grilled chops + Spätzle), prepared fresh, no frills. Beers from draught are very good value and came to the table fast enough, considering the lady of the house was a personal union of Saaltochter/hostess/waitress/barmaid, having to take orders and pour all drinks herself...Although there were no more than 30 guests at the time (among which one large family of 15) this resulted in a 1h10 wait for our food (hardly requiring Michelin attention) in which I could sample all their draughts and which forced us to take a taxi down to catch the last bus down (21h03 on a SAT, jawohl) - briefly considered staying the night, but they were booked out. Tip if you bring time on your hands, have no all too high expectations of surprising brews and either have some daylight left to enjoy the views or pre-booked a room.“

“Beautifully located in the Black Forest. On this site are the brewery, the adjacent restaurant and a well-stocked shop that sells not only their beers, but also a lot of regional food. Service is extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended if you want to try the Lenzkircher beers.“
