88 /100 Scrap Yard (Bar) 68-70 WALLERSEY ROAD Comfortable cafe with 24 taps (23 beer and a cider) plus a good smattering of bottles. The homely feel and mismatched furniture works well compared to the industrial look of so many craft beer joints. They tend toward sessionable to mid-strength (strongest tap was 6.8%) but the selection is varied regarding breweries (the local Neptune featured, as did the Canadian outfit Collective Arts) and styles (milkshake IPAs, sweet stouts, fruit beers). They're family and dog friendly, and the coffee is wonderful too. No food but you can order in a takeaway. Tear yourself away from Liverpool long enough to take the ferry 'cross the Mersey and visit this destination-worthy place. |

62 /100 Clairville (JDW) (Bar) 48 WALLASEY ROAD In the middle of the commercial centre of Wallasey, this Wetherspoon is housed in a rather ugly concrete shop unit building, making it a single open plan room. The inside is a little more appealing although you’ll notice it’s a very familiar traditional pub design for this chain with the long bar located against the back wall. It does sport two rows of ale pumps though so it’s one of the better options for rotating ales if you live or are in this area. |
