There’s a comfortable new tasting room with a range of about 10 beers brewed here on draught, plus about five ciders and a couple of alcopops. The staff the day we visited were friendly and enthusiastic. The samplers of six 140ml tasters for NZ$9 are exceptional value. There’s a cafe attached. That’s all the good stuff. The problem is that the beer and ciders are mediocre at best. The fact they produce both of those plus alcopops suggest a business that is hedging its bets. There’s loads of potential here with the right brewer. It felt more like a tourist destination than a brewery. There’s plenty of product available for take-away in plastic bottles if anything takes your fancy. I had a sampler of six and left empty-handed.“ |
