“Once a pub, but now converted into mostly a restaurant, this large open plan building does still act as a pub for the locals of Mereclough and Cliviger in this high up rural suburb of Burnely, but its main business is through food. The business is in its own grounds and has a large car park to its side, and the side entrance to the venue faces this. Inside you’ll immediately be in the pub area with the long bar to the left, with tables and sofas across the other side of the entrance hallway with fabulous views looking across the valley towards Burnley. It’s very modern in appearance and you may end up waiting here for a table if the restaurant is busy. There’s a large number of tables though so unless there’s many large parties of people any wait shouldn’t be too long. The far end of the building is given up to the restaurant serving Italian food including pizza, which is cooked in an oven visible to most of the restaurant. Seats close to the front window also command the fine views across this part of Lancashire. The private owner also runs his very small ’Fighting Cocks’ microbrewery from here, and all four of the hand pumps at the bar will probably carry a different ale on each - probably three regulars and a seasonal. The brewing capacity is small, so the beers are mainly only served here and don’t often go to other pubs as guests, so it’s certainly worth a stop if you are in the area.“
