54 /100 11 RUE DE QUAI
“Situated on a narrow street just behind the Irish Pub which never seems to open, Le Corto Maltese became a useful alternative to our favourite Paimpol bar (Le Cargo on Rue Des Huites Patriots, which was closed for holidays). The bar is popular with young people, and has 2 darts machines downstairs, with further games options upstairs. The bar specializes in cocktails, and has a decent range of whiskies and rums. Lively - a bit too much so on one night when we were there, when a heated debate ended with glasses flying across the bar in the direction of one of the members of staff - it at least had a few beer choices which is unusual in Paimpol which is a bit of a beer desert. Draft beers for the week we were there were - Pelforth Blonde, Heineken, Affligem Blonde, Murphy's Red and Stout, and Mort Subite Kriek, while amongst the bottles were Kwak, Delirium Tremens, Chimay Bleu, Kasteel Rouge, Lagunitas IPA, Rince Cochon, Cuvee Des Trolls, Edelweiss and Chouffe Blonde - not great, but any port in a storm … as they say! The only other bar we found nearby of any interest was La Falaise on the opposite corner of the port, which had a draft local beer, Philomenn on tap.“
