“Typical Trader Joe’s layout with an aisle on the far side for wine/liquor and half an aisle for beer. Trader Joe’s is a great spot for semi-gourmet foods at a good price. Cheeses, dried fruits and crackers are all good and competitively priced. Beer selection is less than ideal, as they tend to lean on price rather than quality. Plenty of US (mostly West coast with a smattering of local) offerings. Imports include those not found in other local stores, but unfortunately, while they may be worth a try - for the most part, they are not worth returning to. Store brands include the annual Unibroue Vintage Ales that are only available at TJ stores. Overall the value is higher than the quality, but still a worthwhile stop for party shopping.“

“Upping my rating for this Kappy’s location - they have recently been really delivering on hard to find gems. Kappy’s is a Massachusetts liquor store chain with 2 locations on 114 within 5 minutes of each other. This is the preferred location near 128. The waft of stale beer when you walk through the returns section to enter the store is not pleasant. Service is non-existent, but the selection is well laid out by geography with US micros on one side and Rest of the World micro/macros on the opposite. A string of coolers along the backwall mimics the selection on the shelves with the addition of macros. Selection is pretty good. There is always a new arrival and on occasion there is something that is otherwise not available on the North Shore. Unfortunately the diversity also includes some lesser quality "exotic" beers. But they do allow for mix-pack creations. Prices are a little high as any incentive sales are mostly concentrated on the macros. Overall, not a bad stop when you are in the 128 / mall area.“
