“We visited here in the company of Nick and Anna Saturday 20th January 2024.This place was very busy when we entered, we initially were placed in the covered heated area which is technically outside but was actually pretty warm, however as soon as we'd ordered a table became free inside and we were offered this. It is a large place about a minute or two from the main square. The food was very traditional but also good, substantial and well priced. The beer as I understand is one of the only other places where you can get the unfiltered version of the Pilsner Urquell Pils and it was very good. I can see that others have commented on the friendliness or otherwise of the staff, I can only say that this place like everywhere we went in Pilsen the staff were great. This wasn't our favourite place but I think that nonetheless we'd be happy to return here.“

“We visited here in the company of Nick and Anna Sunday 21st January 2024. This was our first stop of the day on the Sunday, it is another place that it very central, just a short 5 minute walk from the main square. It is a nice old building the layout is sort of transverse with 3-4 tables in front of the bar and I believe that there were more upstairs. Beer choice was good with further beers in the fridge. We really liked it here and stayed for another, the staff were super friendly, prices were very reasonable.“

“We visited here in the company of Nick and Anna Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st January 2024. This along with the Pilsner Urquell brewery visit was I think universally our top place in Pilsen. It's very central, just off the main square and 2 mins walk from Francis Bar plus the traditional place that sells the unfiltered Pilsner Urquell that I have forgotten the name of :-). This is a modern place, well lit, cool modern vibe, with a good range of beer on tap and a very good range of Cans and bottles in the fridges further back in the bar, the choice was predominantly Czech, Polish but with UK and others also on offer. The staff were very friendly spoke great English and were very knowledgeable. Prices were also very good here. There was also a very good range of styles and beers were well laid out. Will definitely return here.“

“We visited here in the company of Nick and Anna Saturday 20th January 2024. This place will be synonymous with Loz leaving her bag and us having to stay another night in Pilsen. It was closed when we realised what had happened but the barmaid who served us chased us down the road to tell us it would be open the following day at approx' 5pm. It is very, very central, opposite the cathedral/church on the main square and just around the corner from KEGzistence. It is a small place that you access through an alley that the opens out into a small courtyard, the bar is on the left. It's a small place, the beer choice is on a chalkboard to the side of the bar. It was pretty cold in here and we stayed for just one beer, the decor was a little spartan, it had that appearance that it was modelled from second hand furniture, nothing wrong with that just wish it would have been warmer. Beer choice was fine but easily bettered by Kegzistence. Fine but not my favourite, although the barmaid was wonderful.“

“We visited here in the company of Nick and Anna Saturday 20th January 2024. This was very conveniently opposite our hotel the excellent and reasonably priced Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Pilsen. This was a real highlight of our short two night stay in Pilsen. We arranged the tickets online beforehand and even when we had to cancel owing to a date issue, the online support was fantastic, we told them that we still wanted to go on the tour so were issued with a voucher to re-book with a lengthy expiry date. We took the English tour and it was fascinating, taking in the bottling plant, brewing area obviously and being told a lot about the background and history. however the tunnels underneath the brewery which if memory serves me correct there are 7km of them, were fantastic, however Loz and Anna disputed 7km and reckon 9km :-) there were also 70, yes SEVENTY ice rooms which I think were still in use until the 1980s. There was the occasional cheesy edge to the commentary for the guide but all in all we thoroughly enjoyed the visit . Also the unfiltered Pilsner Urquell from the wooden barrels was fantastic and I am not just saying that because it is only available here, it really was next level stunning. I would highly recommend the tour, it lasts about two hours, if I had one gripe, I would have liked a little bit longer in the cellars drinking the beer, even if I had to pay for an additional one or two, or three....“

“We visited the Raven micro brewery, in the company of Nick and Anna Sunday 21st January 2024. This is a very short tram ride from the centre of town, tbf you could probably walk it in 30 mins, but it was January, it was cold and it was getting dark so we took the Tram and as others have kindly pointed out you take Tram in the direction of Bolevec and get off at the Mozartova station, I think that trams 1 & 4 will get you there according to Google. It was dark and I am trying to recall the outside appearance, however suffice to say it is on a busy road and the tram stop is a right by the place, is it on a corner, yes just checked Google and my memory was serving me correctly. It is tidy, clean, with that slightly industrial look of exposed brickwork, electrics, metal etc., but that is the modern in vogue look I guess. Beers were pretty decent, we had about 5-6 between us and all were solid 3.5 - 3.8 with Kolsch, IPA, Gose etc. amongst our choices. Food was also better than expected I think that we all opted for a burger of one type or another and all were good. It is clear that this offers something different and is probably aiming at a younger hipper crowd but I think that it works well and will definitely return here when we head back to Pilsen in the warmer months.“

“A very tourist-oriented place, but you can taste the original (first brewed ever) pilsner (from wood) and learn about the history of the style (pilsner) and this beer (Pilsner Urquell) and the brewery directly at the source. It is really worth it. Check the website in advance for what hours the tours (in language: CZ, DE, EN, ES) are.“

“A store with a very good selection of Czech beers from craft breweries. It is located directly in the building of the brewery museum operated by Plzeňský Prazdroj brewery, so it could just be a tourist trap, but I do not have that feelings. Warmly recomended (along with a visit of the brewery museum).“

“Nice little bar in Pilsen near the town square. Some outdoor seatings on a quiet street and small indoor space (from what I could tell). They had about 8 craft beer taps, I had a Zichovec IPA and an APA. They have food as well but I didn’t order any. Not an extensive tap list but a good place to grab craft beer if in Pilsen.“

“Brewpub in Pilsen. They had about 8 taps of their own beer, mostly lighter Czech styles although when I visited they were having Oktoberfest specials. They have food but I didn’t look at the menu. There are outdoor and indoor tables. Very good prices for beer, one of the cheapest I’ve been to ($12 for 4 beers including a large tip!)“

“tijdens vakantie in tsjechie was niet ver van mijn hotel dus langs gegaan was een tof gezellige bar met 8 bieren van hun op tap de bediening was goed alleen wat moeilijk met mijn engels maar goed geholpen door lokale stam gasten die aan de bar zaten de bieren die ik geproefd heb waren goed de prijs ook heb zelf wat flessen uit de koelkast mee genomen voor thuis dus zeker een aanrader als je in pilzen bent“

“tijdens mijn vakantie in tsjechie samen met mijn schoonvader willy een toffe rondleiding misschien wel een beetje een toerist trap grote groepen maar zeker de moeite de uitleg was goed niks vernieuwend de kelders tunnels waren leuk om te zien en de pils rechtstreeks uit het vat was super en nog wat bieren gevonden van hun kleine brouwerij proud in de toeristen winkel dus voor mij was het een goede dag“

“A semi cellar bar serving 7 of their own beers on draft. More beers in the 2 fridges. Two rooms with dark wooden furniture. Tuesday night was quiz night. We joined in. The quiz master translated to English for us. Most of the questions were about all things Czech. We came last. Our server seemed to take a shine to us and gave us some free beer.“

“The entrance can be found round the back. Up to 20 taps all from Pivovar Modra Hvezda. Barman spoke only a little English and some German. Some stools at the bar and tables in the back room. Efficient service. Good value for money.“

“Cosy place with extra seating u on the mezzanine and outside on the pavement. Choice of 6 draft beers. We went for the taster tray which was 4 X 0.3l glasses and a bowl of peanuts. Service was efficient and the staff were knowledgeable. More beer in cans and bottles in 2 fridges. The food menu was in Czech only.“

“Just a short walk over the ring road and river. A steak restaurant and bar in a hotel complex. Google took us to the back door which was closed, so walked round the block to find the front. Menu available in Czech, German and English. Just 2 of their beers on today. Only 1 waiter spoke English. We had to find the beer list for ourselves.“

“Now has 12 taps. The focus seemed to be on Polish beers. Including a couple of sours and 1 dark beer. 3 fridges of cans and bottles. Again mainly from Poland and 1/3 of which seemed to be sour. Our server was very knowledgeable about the beer and told us about each beer as she served them.“

“Modern czech pub with a good selection of their beers which are served in very good quality. Food is excellent - the menu is combination of a traditional czech pub cuisine and international cuisine. I warmly recommend! If you are in the West Bohemia, this is one of the beer-place you must visit.“

“I agree with mcberko. One of the reasons to go here is because you get Urquell from the wood at the end of the tour. And hell yeah it was good. Anyway a fine and nice trip around the brewery Absolutely recommendable They do also have their micro brew available in the brewery shop“

“Plzeň's new-old "multi-tap" place. The former tenant, Pivotečka, has remarkably quickly gone from "expanding to a second, bigger place" through "closing the second place" to "closing the first place as well". I guess some friends of the place took it over, from what I understood and refurbished it. Looking "cleaner" somehow, it's not the biggest place - but like more than one place here, it has a top floor directly above the entrance. 10 taps are there, the fridges more full than before, yay for that. Okay service, I think, bit vague on it. The taps had only one new beer for me I think - and have a lot of Polish beers on for whatever reason - and Plzeň folk I talked to confirmed it's kinda semi-focusing on those. Odd, but not gonna kink-shame anyone. Anywho, a should visit, at least for a beer or two before Francis and some others open, but with the right selection, it might be the focus of your Plzeň-center pub crawl as well. Will revisit and expand the review.“

“Finally got to visit the place, yay! As everyone has said, an unabashedly old school bar, with darts, darkish interior, friendly locals and barkeep, nice enough music playing in the background, in the sweet spot of just being loud enough to be noticed, but not enough to drown out conversation... Sadly, however, there's no Kout what with the brewery being gone for a couple of years now. Or Bakalář I guess (at least not now). If I remember correctly - Urquell, Gambrinus Unpasteurized 10, Radegast Ratar aaand as the special, Svijanský Máz... Eh. In this condition it wouldn't be Ratebeer material and I can't score it as high at the others, but it's a place with soul, which I'm sure the locals appreciate. How to get here? Just take 1 or 2 for one station away from the center from the main station and move up in the quarter, easy.“

“Visited end November 2022. Good choice of beers both on tap, and also in the fridges. Drank draft beers (choice of 10) from KMP, Plzensky Bandita, Zhurak & Axiom. Take outs from Zichovec & Permon. TV channel showing "rock" music may not be to everyone's taste. Very close to main rail station making the bar easy to find, and more importantly the station after a few beers. Good value for a UK visitor.“

“So, Prazdroj opened a beer store by the brewery museum by Na Parkánu's entrance / exit / till. Bizarrely, this is the only beer store in town, making it an essential visit if only in Plzeň. Had to fight through a crowd of tourists to get inside, where very few of them vere interested in what's on the shelves. And the selection is surprisingly varied - stuff from all over CZ, including some rarities (first time I ran into Haksna), Proud's BA experiments... got 2 Sibeerias I missed initially and then couldn't find anywhere in Prague... Not the widest one around, but in fridges entirely. The main downside of the place are the prices, which beat even the most tourist trappy Prague stores. A lot of stuff for 130-160... with some random more normally prices stuff. Dunno what to think of it - hope it gets some good local competition, as the prices are clearly aimed at the tourists, and not at the locals - who deserve at least one good beer store. I mean, it's Plzeň FFS! Even far smaller towns have their independent pivotékas... Oh well. Staff... efficient in a way. Though the guy who sold me a bag could have used the time while the credit card terminal away from him was loading and I was paying to put at least a beer or two in it so I could be away sooner - there was a crowd outside after all...“

“Located right at the U Radbuzy station, where you'll get off going to Depo for some festival anyway, so two birds with one stone! A classic Czech restaurant, quite popular locally seemingly, sporting a selection of Bizon beers - which aren't always top class, but with the closure of the Bizon restaurant, this is probably the best/easiest place to get them. Friendly, professional service in my case. Quite low prices (31 CZK for a small pumpkin ale, which was actually good, was a steal!). Classic CZ food it seems, didn't partake this time. 4 taps if I remember correctly, well balanced styles (as much as they can be for Bizon). Not a place I'd rave about but a worthy addition to the Plzeň map.“

“Very close to the town centre, this place is worth visiting just to try the unfiltered Pilsner Urquell, only available here. You can order it in 0.3 or 0.5L pours (currently 42 and 59 Ck, respectively). Nonchalant but quick service. When I arrived, I said I was only there for beer, and the dude just brought me a 0.5L of the unfiltered, assuming that's what I wanted -- I did indeed want the unfiltered but would've ordered a 0.3L -- I dislike presumptive service. Oh well. Worth the trip for the unique, high-quality beer.“

“The point of coming here is to do the brewery tour just so you can try the top-rated Czech pils on ratebeer -- the unfiltered, unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell poured directly from the oak barrel. This is worth the trop alone. The tour is decent, but the unique pilsner is worth the price of admission alone. Worth a trip for this.“

“Visited August 2022. Big restaurant with brewery, spa and hotel located outside of Plzen, reachable by car only since it is in the middle of nowhere. I had a nice lunch there (Svíčková - rosted pork with Bohemian dumplings, cream sauce, cranberry jam and cream) and their svetly lezak and tmavy, which were pretty nice as expected. Many locals, a crowded place even on a wednesday. Nice beergarden outside, didn't go inside. Prices are a bit higher. Service very good. Highly recommended if you have a car.“

“Visited August 2022. Did the guided tour in German. Very interesting tour with lots of information about the foundation of the Pilsner Urquell brewery and the Pilsner style in general. But did the tour primarily for the unfiltered Urquell from the wooden barrel, which was pretty nice. Must visit when in Pilsen.“

“Visited August 2022. Taproom located about 3km from the city center. I walked but should be also possible to get there with tram. Almost the same Raven selection as in their city pub, but few beers were different. Also huge bottle selection of special Raven beers, highly priced. Nicer service, nicer terrace although located on a big street with fast cars passing by. Prices are again really nice, the beers were good! Worth to get there.“

“Visited August 2022. Located in the oldtown next to Na Parkanu and at the entrance of the brewery museum and underground. Excellent selection of Czech craft, all styles, lagers, IPA, sours, dark porters, stouts. Prices a bit high, but still good. Must visit, even it might seem a bit touristy.“

“Visited August 2022. Restaurant associated with the Pilsner brewery. Nicely located in the old town. Very good food and the unfiltered version of Urquell to be found here. Very good service, as some people described pokerfaced - yes but they are fast and professional. Prices good too. Must visit, at least for the unfiltered version.“
