“Up a gentle enough hill which starts in the town centre, the pub's in a somewhat countrified area below residential houses, offering up fine views across the Bristol Channel to Wales and the second Severn Crossing to the right. A split level Fullers pub with outdoor seating back and front, and a large car park, the decor is traditional with a modern durability about it, and looks decent enough. The majority of its cask ales and craft keg are from the London brewer, although I chose the one guest ale from a local microbrewer that exists here. Food is served, dogs are allowed in the top front bar area only.“

“Pub in the marina development at Portishead. The owner was involved with Bristol's Beer Emporium, which is evidenced by the wide bottled beer range which includes a great selection from Belgium covering the main Trappists and more modern classics, including a few from Struise. There are also four beers on handpump, normally including a couple from Bristol Beer Factory, and a cider or two. Food is limited to cold pies, scotch eggs and platters. Overall, the widest beer range in North Somerset and, with some friendly service, well worth a visit.“

“Large pub/restaurant overlooking the Bristol Channel, with panoramic views of South Wales from Cardiff to the Severn bridges. Fullers took it over recently but, to date, the only changes have been to put a couple of their beers on sale. Two Butcombe beers remain available, as do two frequently changing guests, which tend to come from local breweries. Service is friendly.“
