“This pub is one of a group of nine restaurants and bars in adjoining buildings, owned by the same family.Walk into the front entrance and you'll be in a really tiny pub, completely unrestored, so you can see how pubs used to be, maybe around the turn of the 19th century or earlier - L-shaped bar with barstools, a few additional stools along the outer walls. Expect lots of Excuse Mes and Pardon Mes as locals squeeze past you. Sports is the theme here, especially golf, and there's memorabilia everywhere. One TV showing sports (muted) is the only nod to modernism. The gem of the place is the second room, an even tinier snug with a real fire, one of the most atmospheric snugs I've seen. If that's not enough, continue straight through to The Bistro, an open, modern, spacious affair. Or climb one flight to another bar with light snax. The usual macro taps plus plus a few cans from Lacada.“

OLD LIFEBOAT SHELTER
“Best address in Portrush. The original shelter was built in 1860 but this is the "new" building from 1860. The first lifeboat launched from here was called the Zelinda, but the first one launched from the new building was the Hopwood. And Lacanda brewery in town brews a steam beer called Hopwood as this place's signature brew. Very tasty. The food is fantastic, steak and seafood in good portions at low prices. And the service is fantastic, both staff and locals were very friendly. Fills quickly in the summer when you can sit on the back deck right over the water.“

“This wee place serves as the bar for The Playhouse theatre. It has a wee serving bar and some wee restaurant tables, it does. Barman is a right friendly fella. Taps are all macro but he has Lacada cans in the fridge. Burgers and pizza in the evenings. Nice place.“

Nisa Drinks (Beer Store)
19 MAIN ST
“Small off licence on one of the main streets in Portrush. Came here for a quick holiday, this was the only store in the area. Craft beers are on a few shelves in the back, along with a few spots in the adjacent refrigerator. Not a huge selection, but decent stuff. Surprisingly, not a ton of N. Ireland breweries, but more English ones.“
