“Just outside the central ring road around the small but quaint enough town centre, this is a modern built Wetherspoon but with a front terrace along the length of the building. It's quite busy with furniture on the inside but there's plenty of spaces either in the more airy front area or lower ceiling rear section. Usual set of drinks apply.“

“Grand pub building in the main square facing the church. Large traditional urban pub with plenty of space in front of and extending back from the bar along the left wall, which has a long row of real ale pumps - none of which were new for me but all were regulars from microbreweries.“

“Central and at the end of the road with the train station. It's not thatched but this self standing building is arguably the most attractive looking amongst the cluster of pubs here. Its modern open plan interior is decent too. The bar has 10 cask pumps, 9 on when I visited on a vibrant standing room only Friday evening, but despite a plethora of crafted microbrewery options, all were regulars so nothing new here for me. Same goes for its back wall craft keg options.“

“Visited on a Saturday afternoon in October 2015. A couple of minutes walk into town from the station this big corner pub has the Chapel St brewhouse out back. 4 beers on tap from the brewery plus guests from the North West and Yorkshire I opted to stay local. Sat in a little room and got served quickly, lots of other rooms in the nicely decorated pub too. Beer was in good nick and seem to vary the styles quite a lot. Had to add 3 of them to RB. Prices not too bad. A good place and the best in town.“

“Visited on Saturday afternoon in October 2015. Nice old pub on the edge of the town square, a few mins stroll from the station. 5 beers on handpull from breweries around the North West and Yorkshire, all were in good condition that I tried. The pub is a music venue too with a music festival about to take place over the weekend I visited. Staff were friendly, plenty of room to relax. Some nice, dinky little tall tables to perch on. Recommended“

“Visited on a Saturday morning in October 2015. Situated on the edge of Poulton about 5 mins walk from the station this is the 900th Spoons according to the blue plaque. It’s a huge place with plenty of rooms, decor was excellent and even had a real fire going as a feature. Had a couple of local beers on tap plus the usual offerings. Beer in good condition, £2.45 a pint. Staff were quick to serve. A decent Spoons!“
