“Visited in October 2023. Small brewery with 12 beers on tap, no food, community tables, large beer garden outside. High-ceilinged, roomy indoors, and board games available. The beers are decent too.“

Pizza J (Restaurant)

“Visited in December 2023. Pizza place with a very good selection of domestic and international (mostly Belgian) craft beer. The food was great. Dark interior with a lot of artwork on the walls, blaring punk rock, and 5-6 pinball machines. They had 16 beers on tap, mostly local options as well as 2-3 Belgian beers. Their bottle/can list was around 40. Did I say that the pizza was delicious? Must visit if in Providence.“

“Large taproom in Providence, right off Interstate 195 at India Point Park. Lots of Narragansett memorabilia on display. about a dozen brews on tap with several not available away from the brewery. Canned beer and Narragansett swag available to go. Food menu is limited to a few apps and flatbreads. Their Clam Chowder was tasty as were the Flatbreads we tried. Friendly service and a real good vibe here. Lots of inside and outside seating. About half full when we visited on a Tuesday at around 6 pm. Worth a visit if you're in the area.“

“Nice place right in the center of Providence. They had 6 taps of their own beers and another 6 cans. They did flights of 5 for 15$. Good pub food too.“

“Cute little place out in Warren, a mostly residential, moderate to upscale, very quiet two lane neighborhood outside Providence. They own a small three acre orchard & produce a dozen or so still ciders for on premise sale, all bottles. Only ever 4-5 bottles available for pours, 4-5 for takeaway only. Hoped for a little more, but bottling is more on feel than availability. Lovely vintage wooden bar with rotating stools & a few table tops, not much in a 25' x15'ish room. Back area is all production storage. Occasionally there are snacks. Really charming, old world storefront that morphed into a bar. Lady upfront was pleasant, walked me through a flight & answered all my geeky questions when she could. Flight of four was only $10, which is a gem of a price. Full 6oz pours are $8. Really the only cider place I could find in this tiny state that sells well done cider. There is one other "cidery" that sells soda-adjacent bubbly if you're desperate. Cheers.“

“Right near where I was picking up race packet and there was an artist street fair going on on the block. Decent vibe was packed mid afternoon. Vibe pretty good standard type look little corporate but ok. Had some decent brews on tap and I was happy to try to items I wanted. Short pours were nice. Not sure what two reviewers below gripe was but fine spot nothing mind blowing“

“Swung by since wanted to try these fellas. I like the decor and the complex and area could be something of quality. Bartender quite friendly. Super sleepy afternoon and vibe though. Logo and shirts were cool. Beers were quite bad unfortunately. They had one that was good the others were quite poor and were styles I enjoy too. Could be an awesome spot if they get brewing better but it’s been like 5 yrs so doubtful“

“Stopped in after Providence brewing which is next store. Space is ok decorated with skateboards and has a slight hippy funky vibe. Pizza looked pretty good. Beers were all their standard offerings that I’ve had awhile ago really not much special on tap. Beers are ok better than next store. Cool little area brewing in this locale just need quality to get upped.“

“Super modern feeling restaurant vibe, lots of light, lots of plants etc. Phenomenal New England beer selection. Flights available. RI selection was lacking on my visit, but I think I managed a beer from every other New England state. Well worth a visit.“

“I guess it’s all about expectations, this place opened in the mid 90s and the decor has not been updated since (don’t go if that bothers you). Great pub style food, large portions! Helpful wait staff. I had the RI IPA and I found no faults (brewed to style). I would not hesitate to stop in again.“

“This is barely a beer bar. Limited taps. Go down the street to Rogue Island a real beer bar with a full kitchen. Even the pizza place across the street has better beer at a better price.“

“Stopped in here last week During Homebrewcon. Nestled inside a courtyard that make it seem somehow outside the city. 10 -15 tables outside and at least triple that inside. Service was quite good, the beer and food were decent and the price was inline with what I'd expect to pay in the city.“

“Stopped in here after hitting the malted barley while in town for Homebrewcon. The place was packed on an early wed evening until they opened downstairs where we found a seat in the cave at the bar. Old school feel and we each ordered up a pint of something different. Two IPA's and a dry stout. The IPA's were loaded with diacetyl but the stout was pretty good. We didn't order any food so I cant comment on that. The bartender was helpful but unapologetic about the substandard beers they serve. I might go back and order up a flight and maybe some food just to be sure but based up this trip this might be a brewery to skip.“

“I stopped here last week while in PVD for Homebrewcon. Large square space with the bar off to the left wall after you make it through the double doors. 30 or so tables a mix of high tops and seating at the bar. 20 or so deep on the draft menu with more in bottle or can. Simple food menu with pretzels (flavored or plain) and dips, sandwiches or salads. I got a plain pretzel with beer cheese dip and aside from being the oddest looking pretzel I'd ever seen it was quite tasty. They had a well thought out beer menu with 2 that they brew at the Isle Brewers Guild. Service was attentive and the cost was what I would expect from an establishment in the city I'd go back if in the area.“

“Right downtown, this is a great location and is set-up very nicely. They had 6 house beers on tap and offered flights of 5 for $10++. Service was adequate. Beer quality wasn’t anything special, with most drinkable and nothing standing out. Forgettable beers but I liked the place itself.“

“A tired old place right downtown. They had 6 house beers on tap when I visited. Flights of 6 available for $11++. Beer quality ranges from decent to god awful, with all sorts of brewing problems evident here. Due to the beer quality, I certainly can’t recommend this place. I’m sure they’ve seen better days.“

“Modern, semi-elegant beer hall decorated very well. I liked everything about this place except the rip-off prices: flights of 3 for a whopping $12++. C’mon guys, that is insulting. The beer list was solid, but nothing incredible, amalgamating some nice New England and beyond beers. Service was fine.“

Julian’s (Restaurant)

“My pick for my best bar in town. Just outside the downtown, this is a really nice semi-elegant feeling place that is casual at the same time. Almost 20 taps, pretty well-chosen. 5 oz tasters available of everything, priced per beer, usually $2-3, very reasonable for a bar. They had a big food menu too with tons of vegan(-izable) options, as they make their own homemade seitan. Pricey food men though. Friendly service but not terribly knowledgeable about beer. Worth a visit.“

“Located in Federal Hill this place is going for an indoor beer garden/farm to table kind of thing. Street parking is Hit or miss but it was a fairly easy walk from the downtown hotels. It's clear the owners are into modernist design which even extends to unique lettering of their beer menu. Like a lot of Rhode Island beer bars there's not a lot of local beer but they have a good selection of NE craft and the bartenders were very happy to talk craft beer.“

“Located just a few blocks from the convention center, the malted barley is a nice, comfortable beer bar. They had mostly local and regional things on tap. I loved that they had smaller pour sizes available so I could sample a lot of things. They don’t have a ton of food but they serve everything late. The bartender was very friendly and talkative and made some good suggestions. I’d definitely go back the next time I’m in the area.“

Julian’s (Restaurant)

“Julian’s is located across the bridge from downtown, within a half mile of the convention center which was easy walking distance from my hotel. No A/C which was a bit of a problem on an unusually hot weekend night, but they also have outdoor seating. Definitely more of a dive bar feel except a number of taps of unusual/rare beer. They had a number of offerings from Belgium and Germany along with some good regional brews. There’s a number of vegetarian/vegan things on the menu, but the hamburger is also excellent and the large fries come in a legit bowl. The service was friendly especially after I invoked their buy a round for the kitchen special which I think is a splendid idea. All and all cool vibe, great beer, tasty food, good service, and all at reasonable prices. I’d love to go back.“

“This is one of the nicest beer stores I’ve experienced -- attractive and well stocked. The selection was so good I had to restrain myself, otherwise I would have dropped several hundred dollars. one of their distributors (Tony from B. “Stopped in here mostly because I parked in the parking garage right across the street from it, and I had to use the restroom. It had Ale in the name, so I thought it might be cool. They did have a few craft beers on tap, but nothing worth actually ordering. I left after using the restroom and looking around the place a bit. At 2 PM, there was literally nobody here but the bartender. Maybe some folks in the kitchen. Regardless, this is a pass if you are looking for good beer.“

“Visited on a rainy afternoon. Street parking is available out front if necessary, but a parking garage isn’t far. Inside seems a bit run down and forgotten. Service was alright, but uncaring at the same time. The flight I ordered came quickly, but the person pouring and serving the beer didn’t really seem interested in doing so. A very odd feel to the place. I was glad they did flights, but was also just as happy to leave afterward. If you need Rhode Island beer ticks, make the visit. Otherwise, I recommend passing. The beer is mediocre at best, and the vibe is totally weird.“

“Visited on a quiet day shortly after they opened. We were pretty much alone other than the bartender and one other patron for the longest time. If you visit here, you will need to find parking somewhere else. There is nowhere to park close by other than metered spots a block or more away. Inside is an old pub type of feel. They had 8 beers on tap for my visit plus 1 cask, which they brought out and tapped while I was sitting at the bar. That was cool. The server was very helpful and attentive. She seemed to know her stuff. We talked about sour beer for more than half of my visit. All around, this place is decent. The beer won’t necessarily blow you away, but it’s decent and everything else is nice.“

“Nice old-skool place in the heart of Providence next to a great coffee spot. I loved how they had the equipment infront of the bar. Nice touch. I didn’t have any food but I had a flight of what they had. A lot of beers made pretty well but not earth-shattering hop-bombs which you expect in the area now. A nice legacy place which i am pleased to say is still thriving and for that they deserve credit.“

“Big open space in a basement in downtown Providence. The building used to be part of the Providence Gas Company (hence the "G" in pub). I’ve been here twice so far. I love the atmosphere. Very relaxed. Service was good. Food was excellent. Beer selection is also very good. Not huge but something for everybody. Price point is a little on the high end, but I guess that’s the norm now.“
