62 /100 James Beer Cerveceria (Bar) AV. JULIO ARGENTINO ROCA Visited 30/12/2018. A 2 minute walk from the cruise pier (takes longer to walk the pier). Wasn’t exactly clear how many beers were on as communication was difficult (and seemed a little frosty). There’s a tap board to the right of the bar with a dozen Argentine beers listed with others written up behind the bar which may have also been available (as bottles perhaps but unclear either way). In any event there was more than enough on the tap list to choose from even though a few were off when I asked for them. Most of the best beer places in town don’t open during the day so this place is recommended if you’re on a daytime cruise stop given it’s proximity and pretty decent Argentine tap list. Good food. |
48 /100 Roco (Grocery Store) CORNER OF AV. ROCA & 9 DE JULIO Corner store on the sea front stocking around 30 different beers from Antares, Berlina and Barba Roja, plus local boys Wynt and La 40. Nothing special but a start. On the opposite side of 9 de Julio, a few doors down Roca is a tourist shop that stocks a similar number of beers from El Bolsón, Wynt and others. |
62 /100 Mr Jones (Restaurant) 9 DE JULIO 118 Primarily a restaurant and not a bad one. The best range of beers in any on-license in Puerto Madryn – a dead and alive port with a dark sand beach and insufficient nightlife to justify its reputation as a tourist hangout. Nice atmosphere and beers from local and not-so-local suppliers. Ignore the ’permanent closure’ sign on its Facebook page. |
