“2nd stop on my Quincy beer crawl. Mainly mass produced stuff but they had Goose Island 312 on tap. Cool little bar, not for craft beer though.“

“Not much craft beer, just a neighborhood bar. Sports on the TV’s and a few imports . But cheap prices.“

“Stopped in here while in town to see family. The beers were all, for the most part, solid and well made. The place is super weird overall, divey with most people drinking BMC. There were 10 beers on tap when we stopped by and the sampler was $7.95 for 10 5oz samples. Great prices and pretty solid beer overall. Good variety of styles.“

“This was a pretty supreme letdown when I stopped in last time. I’ll go back again when in the area. Has Boulevard and a few other random things, though nothing I can’t get in Chicago really. Okay and a plus for the area.“

“This was a hard store to rate. Small, with an equally small (but nearly all-refrigerated) beer selection, Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits has some hidden surprises. Amongst the Coors and Milwaukee’s Best, you can find some of the best beers on RateBeer (Sculpin, Angel’s Share, etc.). A little boxy standalone liquor store offshoot of the Hy-Vee grocery stores in Quincy, this shop has little in the way of ambience and since there wasn’t a "beer manager" on duty, I can’t say much about the service. After reading the previous rating, I was in search of Three Floyds (in disbelief!!!) and was told by the cashier that she had never heard of them. Too bad, but I did manage to get Sculpin and Tres, so the trip wasn’t a total loss. Pretty good for the tri-state area.“

“The beers were mostly below average with the stout and porter being pretty good. A large bar with lots of room and no pretensions. The soup I had was pretty good. I had a sampler that consisted of 9 beers, each with 5 ounces. A little much and I only drank half of half of them. An ok place, but certainly not worth going out of your way to visit.“

“I went to this brewpub last Halloween and it was a fun place as well as a great beer site. It is an old style brewpub / bar and has the large old wood bar and ambiance to go along with it. It is definitely not a new building and has not been modernized. There are pool tables in back, etc. As well as their own offerings, the pub also had a nicely stocked cooler with a good variety of beers. It was a fun place and the Halloween atmosphere made it more fun. I have been twice and will return on my next trip to Quincy.“

“(06/08- Back in Quincy on business, this place has gone downhill fast, much more of a BMC focus. Not worth a special trip to investigate for the brewpub fan. (09/07- O’Griff’s has a new brewmaster and so far the results are not that promising, the quality of the house brews has gone downhill. I will update my review in the near future, I want to give the new brewmaster a second chance.) (10/07, the homebrew is second, no, third rate. This bar now has a BMC focus. If you see a positive review for one of O’Griff’s beers, it’s for their old brewmaster, as of 10/07, their house brews are of poor quality.) Easily the best beer bar in Quincy. The best brewpub in the area. When you first walk in, strikes you as not as an Irish Pub, but as a riverfront tavern. The brews are actually quite tasty and balanced, much better than expected from the pub appearance, the food is also good, better than most restaurants in Quincy. Boulevard on tap as well as their brews. Full bar and low priced wines, but get their brewpub brews, reasonably price and worth it. In easy walking distant from the two best riverfront hotels in Quincy. The brewmaster is quite ambitious, a must try for the brewpub lover. $4.50 for six 5 oz. samplers of their brews. $11 for a new half gallon growler, $8 for refill.“

“This HyVee liquor store actually has a pretty decent beer selection, the best I’ve found overall in the Quincy/Hannibal region. They have your basic imports that you see everywhere, Bass, Corona, Guinness, Harp, Modelo, Tecate, etc..., they also have one or more selections from Chimay, Lindemans, Ayinger, Bavaria, DAB, Franzikaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Konig Ludwig, Paulaner, Spaten, Tucher, Warsteiner, Birra Moretti, Grolsh, Pilsner Urquell, Tyskie, Bishops Finger, John Courage, Fuller’s, McEwans, Newcastle, Old Peculiar, Samuel Smith, Tennent’s, Anchor Stream, Berghoff, JW Dundee’s, Elmwood, Goose Island, Huber, Ommegang, Red Hook, Rogue, Sam Adams, Schlafly, Sierra Nevada, Sleeman, Summit, Three Floyds and Widmer Brothers. All the beer is kept cold, the imports and micros in a long open shelved cooler along the front and the macros in coolers along the side wall. The vast majority of the seasonals are macro products. The store is clean, dust free and they seem to have a good turnover rate, I don’t believe age will be a quality problem. “
