80 /100 Wishful Drinking (Bar) 124 HIGH STREET Great place that is all about the beer. Small bar with eight taps with a great range of interesting beers and a wall full of shelves of interesting and unusual beers. Friendly, helpful service. Next time I am in NW London, I’ll make a trip to visit here properly (just passing today and dropped in to buy some cans, and stopped fora tap beer and a chat) |
48 /100 Feathers (Bar) 34 CHURCH ST, This is a very nice big old food pub. Its primarily function seems to be restaurant rather than pub (not sure if that is some Covid related thing, or the time we visited - mid week midday). As a place to sample good beers it is rather limited. If you want a good meal in a comfortable environment with friendly staff it is fantastic. As this is RateBeer, my review is tilted to the former, but I did enjoy my visit.
The ambience is pleasant big pub but mostly restaurant. There are a range of nice outside areas. The service was really friendly, although did not know what beers were available (table service only). Only four tap beers (ignoring mainstream global lagers) and they were fairly common, although fine. Good food, both standard pub fare plus interesting modern, veggie and international options |
76 /100 Wishful Drinking (Bar) 124 HIGH STREET A real “craft” beer bar in Rickmansworth. Modern, very clean and quirky decor. Awesome can and tap selection with six beers on tap. WiFi and friendly, knowledgeable staff. A lovely bar and a great place to hang out. Can’t wait to return. |
66 /100 Pennsylvanian (JDW) (Bar) 115-117 HIGH STREET A typical spoons with carpeted floors, wooden walls and a rather inviting fireplace. They have a decent guest cask selection but many were not available when I visited. The bottle selection was poor. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was the best I’ve had at a Spoons in a while. Nice enough to visit if in the area but don’t go out of your way. |
94 /100 Feathers (Bar) 34 CHURCH ST, Wonderful pub outside London proper, an easy tube ride to Rickmansworth. Wonderful ambiance, brick and old timber inside. We were able to order food at a time (3pm) that other places ceased offering. Beware of pubs: many have become chain restaurants. Not The Feather in Rickmansworth! Thoughtfully prepared dishes and an eclectic menu. Gladly acquiesced to special requests, and a decent beer selection. Worth a trip if in the UK. |
60 /100 Pennsylvanian (JDW) (Bar) 115-117 HIGH STREET Visited Saturday 28/02/15 around 8 pm.
Town centre Spooneria on the High St about a 5 minute walk from the station.
Looks to have been refurbished not so long back, clean tidy, typical Spoons decor, longer than it is wide, ex shop I imagine with natural light at front and rear only.
Bar, to the left as you enter, carries 12 cask lines and around the same on Keg.
2 collaboration beers on this visit, plus one coming soon, guests included Nethergate and Sambrooks. Usual craft can and Keg offerings also. Place was pretty busy but not swamped, could have done with more than the 2 guys serving but a 3rd staff member came out. I waited 4 mins or so.
Clientele not bad for a spoons tbh, no real rough element.
Ok as spoons go. |
60 /100 Red Lion (Bar) CHENIES A very nice pub near the Hertfordshire border. House beer is/was brewed by Rebellion and usually a few other interesting beers. Quality food. |
