“Huge multiple story building. Lots of bars spread out throughout, different beers on tap at different bars. Kind of fun to go exploring around. I was even told there’s a speakeasy room that I did not look for. Did not have the food as just had a flight and left. The bears were typical for what I’ve had by them, but the experience in the place bumped up the score a bit.“

“Stop by during my quick Tacoma beer tasting tour. Had a nice list with lots of beers and styles but no half pours or samplers. Always one of my pet peeves is I wanna try before I drink. Just had their IPA and they moved on. Had a slice of pepperoni pizza, overpriced, thin, and had only about four pepperonis on it. Better pizza places around.“

“Stop by on a Tuesday right when they open. Had the whole place to ourselves for a while. Friendly waitstaff lots of ciders on tap including eight other own, and a lot of guests taps. Found the ciders to be average to above and enjoy the stop.“

“Nice Typical Total Wine, which are so exciting to visit in a new town. Great prices. Lots of single can options. Huge selection of local breweries. Only drawback is most of the cans are warm, so maybe better to avoid IPAs and Hazy beers, which is hard to do, because 90% of the beers are IPAs.“

“Stopped here my my cousin N.K. who I hadn't seen in almost 30 years. Upstairs tap room. Big place. Separate food venue inside, didn't partake. Large bar but much of it has no chairs and the draft list is mainly visible to a place with no chairs. Tried 9 beers... all good. Sadly, the service sucked. Partially the fact of being understaffed, but the service was bad before it got busy. Prices fine. Overall a nice stop. Hopefully this night was an aberration.“

“Thousands of beers (sign said 5000, which is a stretch). The entire back wall, plus an interior shelf. Wall of Beers. Wide range of styles. I got fair island cherry Pauline for $5.50 (nice barrel aged cherry sour saison). 4.3“

“Wonderful huge space on the third floor. Great views. About 18 beers on tap including 2 barrel aged beers. A bunch of cans in the fridge too. Nice large wood slab tables. Nice looking grill food. Most beers are mediocre, but their export stout was awesome. Beautiful staff. Great place to stop by.“

“Huge spot near many other good spots (namely E9 and The Living tapRoom), with huge ceilings and a pretty massive square footage. The bar is in the middle. It can get very noisy in there when it's even half-full. They have flights, though they sometimes don't do them if it's too busy, but I managed to convince the bartender to do so -- it was reasonably priced $10-11 after tax. Very good beers -- I loved 3 of 4 of the beers I tried. Professional, friendly service and a great spot. Mandatory visit when in Tacoma.“

“Yet another spot in the center, very close to 7 Seas, E9, and others -- this is a ticker's paradise: pour-your-own-beers, pay-by-the-oz. They have 35 taps, 28 of which are beer and cider. You give them your credit card upfront, they give you a bracelet, and you're off to tick. The taplist was decent when I visited, and they rotate their taps pretty quickly, so you don't have worry about old IPAs here. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff with good integrity (they are proud of keeping things rotating quickly). Modern, almost upscale living room-like environment. Great spot. Highly recommended.“

“Pretty good spot with a massive selection mostly geared towards wine and spirits, but there are a couple of isles of beer, with lots of single available. Hoppy stuff can be old, so be sure to check the can/bottle dates. Some good import stuff that's worth seeking out. Prices are better than smaller shops. Worth checking out if you're in Tacoma.“

“A block from E9 and 7 Seas, a couple blocks from Sig, on paper this is a good stop on a brewery crawl in this area. Unfortunately the beer quality is not really up to par and the prices are exorbitant for what they’re serving. They had about a dozen taps, with flights of 5 available for a whopping $19 after tax. None of the beers were particularly creative or expensive to warrant such a price. Beer quality ranges from infected/revolting to competent, but nothing was dialed in particular well. Bartender was impeccably friendly but that doesn’t save the beer experience. Skip this place.“

“Primarily a bottle shop but also a taproom with 10 or so taps. Very modern, air-conditioned and sleek layout. No flights or small pours on their beers, which is lame, but they’ll do half-pours and free tastes. Bottle/can selection is excellent, and all beers are available in singles. If you’re in Tacoma, I can’t imagine there’s a better curated selection — maybe not the largest selection but you’ll find specialty items here you won’t elsewhere. Worth checking out.“

“Right on the coast in the far west of Tacoma, with a beautiful patio that overlooks the ocean — simply gorgeous. The taproom is fairly modern with various sections, with rooms you can rent out for parties. Taplist is a little over a dozen. Flights of 4 available — mine was pricey, at $16 after tax. Beer quality is definitely above average — the WC IPAs I had were solid, as was their barley wine. It was quite busy when I visited, so service was a bit rushed but pleasant. Definitely worth a stop, especially in the summer when you can enjoy the gorgeous patio.“

“Feels like an outback locals pub, with lots of regulars here on the Sunday I visited. Somewhat rundown, no frills taproom, with non-fancy but well-executed beers. They have flights of 3 x 6 oz pours for $7 plus tax, a good deal these days. None of what I had was amazing but all were solid and well-constructed, as though the brewery had frozen in time 10 years ago with the styles they were doing. Worth a stop if you’re in the area but not worth a special trip.“

“Stop #5 on my 4 day Seattle beer tour. Wasn't planning on this spot, but was walking by and as a beer geek, you can not walk by a new place without stopping by. Least busy out of the 6 places of the night - I mean like no one there. Nothing special, and sure I'm glad I ticked it off, but with the others so close and so much better ... No flights, only 1/2 pours ... you have so many places nearby, serve flights ...“

“Swung by on a Saturday for lunch with my toddler (they're kid-friendly and have specific diversions for kiddos - e.g., crayons and cups with tops on them). The food was terrific. The beer was also very-well done, no flights which I'm not going to ding them for. More restaurant than brewpub for me but very good at both.“

“Swung by, huge warehouse-y space in the brewery district, affiliated street-food-style place with decent food. I was not expecting to like the beer as much as I did. Their barrel-aged stuff was really well done, and the other beers I've had of their are also extremely competent. And the environment was good for both my toddler and this beer geek. Worthy stop, even if I have a feeling I hit them at their peak beer time.“

“Small rustic craft brewery with lots of otter puns. The beer itself ranges from disappointing to good, mostly clustered around "decent". The definition of a replacement-level brewery for me - don't turn your nose up at it but no reason to go out of your way to go here.“

“Swung by on a Saturday morning, long line out the door for brunch (which they're apparently discontinuing) but was able to snag a seat at the bar to drink. Typical styles, very well done, although they had this crazy peanut butter honey stout thing which grew on me but was definitely not what I expected. In any event, any place that does a pilsner this well deserves some love. I am not one to ding on price; on the beer, this is well worth a stop. The food looked awesome and has a great rep. Good place.“

“Met a buddy here for lunch and beers on a Friday. Good taplist, nothing crazy rare but nice selection of PNW stuff. Can / bottle list is similar - if this were my only bottle shop, I would do very, very well, and you can drink while you shop. As a bonus, sandwiches were great. Worth a stop.“

“Hadn't been to this newer location before, so time for a stop -- it's a block from Sig, so worth doing both together. Beautifully designed, intimate tasting room with a well-heated patio. They had a dozen or so taps, with flights / small pours available for a reasonable price. I was particularly impressed with their BA fruited sours. These guys have managed to revive themselves and stay relevant in the current beer scene, avoiding the dumber trendier styles and just making excellent beers. Worth a visit when in Tacoma and perhaps making a special trip if you're anywhere near.“

“Just a couple blocks from E9, this is a really nice modern but cozy and fairly small taproom. They have a lot of gimmicky pseudo-beer styles (hard seltzer, smoothie-sours, adjunct-crazy impie stouts, etc.), but also some well-done proper styles (e.g., west coast IIPA). I got a flight of 4 x 5 oz pours (for an outrageous $17 plus tax) -- enjoyed 2, disliked 2. Very friendly service and comfortable environment. I'd return when in Tacoma, but their pricing is pretty damn absurd -- it's not like you're getting expensive barrel aged beers and what not. Worth a look, but didn't blow me away.“

“Stopped into Tacoma's newest brewery (I think) on my last road trip down south, and decided to check this place out while waiting out the dreadful Tacoma traffic with a bite and a brew. Located just a mile or so off the I5, so it's simple to get to, and if you have time to do some brew hopping, it's right next to 7 Seas and Harmon. So location is excellent as far as my scale goes. Lots of different house beers on tap, good variety, and all offered in imperial pints, schooners, or tasters. Perfect for tasting a few, and still being able to hit the road again after. Setting reminds me of a diner. It might have been one before it was a brewery. Booths and bar tables, self seating, and really fast and friendly service. Food menu offers some brats and various pub grub. Everything was tasty. Overall, a good addition to the growing Tacoma beer crawl. Enjoyed this visit.“

“A beautifully decorated and large space with great views over the bay. Service was friendly and quick. We got a flight and a couple extra and the beers ranged from good to very good. “We stopped in early on a Saturday afternoon so the place was fairly empty. Just a few other patrons at the bar. A cozy, well maintained tavern with hints of dive among the comfortable feel. The beer list is rather extensive for a local tavern with some really interesting and varied beers on- not just IPAs, which was nice. Had a cask bitter and a sour on my visit. Service was quick and friendly. We played a couple games of pinball and enjoyed the beers inside a comfortable neighborhood tavern. I can't think of a better way to drink beers.“

“This was the first stop on our crawl. Built in an old firehouse, the space oozes character. We sat out front as it was one of the last beautiful days of the year, most likely. Service was nice after the initial slow start. We had the hummus plate, which was tasty. They don't have flights, but they do have four oz tasters. They are pretty pricey. Tried a bunch of their stuff as well as a couple of the more interesting guest beers. A really nice place to drink beer.“

“I stopped by on a Monday afternoon so the place was pretty empty, but was mightily impressed none-the-less. Large space with plenty of seating and wide aisles for when it gets packed. Large open windows up front let the fresh air in, which is nice. Tap list was varied and impressive. Had some standards but also many hard to find and/or top notch beers pouring. Many of the beers came multiple sizes and a 10 oz pour of a big DIPA only set me back 2.50, which was fairly inexpensive, IMO. The bottles selection in the back is extensive and varied enough from the other bottle stores around to peak my interest. Prices are all fair and only a buck more per bottle if you want to consume it on sight. The staff was friendly and super helpful, too. I really enjoyed my brief stay and it’s definitely worth going a little out of your way for.“

“Great space. Great bottle coolers. Great tap list. Great beer prices. Proper glassware, nice selection, overall a good place to drink. Given that 1111 runs their kitchen, the food should be at that level, too. And the appetizers ARE actually good. But the sandwiches are bland, despite the awesome descriptions on the menu. Soup was okay, but expensive, and the sandwiches just tasted like lunch meat on a Gai’s roll, like something you’d make as a teenager who doesn’t cook much. I’m hoping it was just training day in the kitchen or something, because there must be a good version of these sandwiches in the chef’s mind’s eye or somewhere. The sandwiches at the 1111 are rad, and the prices there are much better. But this place blows it away on beer selection.“

“Funny (or should I say odd) brewery in a nice old space. Popular and comfy. A surprisingly large selection of their own beers, available in a wide variety of sizes. Ok price on tasters. “Quickly becoming a classic PNW destination. Fantastic space in a unique old building.. a brick firehouse. Food is off of a huge pub menu, and is rather delicious for what it is. I love the fries. Fair tap list, half/half with house beers and interesting guest taps. I often find the guests to be more interesting than what they are offering, especially if you aren’t after their small batch sours. Lots of house bottles for takeaway, plus a very interesting (and reasonably priced) list of bottles available for there. I don’t always love the E9 beers, but when they’re good, they’re very good.“

“These guys have an absolutely amazing space that’s fully appropriate for all ages--kids are welcome, and it’s wheelchair-accessible. I believe there’s an elevator in here somewhere, too; big service elevator from when it used to be a car dealership. Not sure if it’s still in service. It’s a kickass ancient brick building, warehouse-sized, with big buttressed ceilings and giant windows on two walls. Perfect place to reclaim and start a brewery with a great big taproom.

There’s no food, but they clearly welcome outside grub. They even have PSP menus, among others, sitting right out on the bar. There’s plenty of seating around the bar and scattered around tables and chairs. There are big leather couches back over there somewhere.

I just can’t get over what a nice job they’ve done with the carpentry, making it look appropriately industrial while keeping it perfectly welcoming and comfortable. The industrial aesthetic works well with their branding, which is their other big accomplishment. The whole dystopia vibe could play well with an enlightened, politically-aware perspective of life right here on planet earth, but they’ve opted for the more sci-fi vision of totalitarianism, though they mix in a lot of graphics from agitprop and nazi germany to flesh out the visuals. Given a possible interest they seem to maybe have in nordic heritage, you could be forgiven for taking this as somewhat alarming, but there’s nothing off-putting about the space or the staff.

The beer’s okay at this point; if you’re a geek you might quibble with some details but for most folks this stuff is just fine. Prices are good and there’s tons of elbow room--great place to have a beer.“

“Visited during a Tacoma brewery crawl. Pacific is one of about 5 that are walkable in the area from each other. Right next to Odd Otter. This place was a fun stop. Walking up to the building, and pushing a massive door to get in, I expected a huge place, but the taproom was really small. Most of the space in the building seems to be used for production. 9 beers on tap, very clean and modern looking place. Beer poured in 9 or 16 oz. Quiet in here for a Friday night, but they beer was pretty good, and the staff was great. Very friendly, and great conversation. Fun styles on their "small batch series", including some barrel aged beers, and belgian style ales. Cool place.“

“Cool place next to a few other breweries, perfect for a crawl stop. Small place, very modern. Cool lighting! 14 of their own beers on tap, including a lot of really fun styles. Port barrel aged barleywine, Imperial Stouts and porters. Very cool list. 3 guest cider options. Flagship, and best seller, the Ottermelon Hefe seemed to be pouring all night, and they sell 12 and 22 oz bottles of it. Draft offered in 5, 10, and 16 oz. 5 oz samples go for $2-3. Sadly, no longer dog friendly, but it sounds like that is the case for all the Tacoma breweries, for a recent law change. Bring your own food. A very enjoyable stop for me. Good beer. In the area doing a crawl, I would call this an important stop.“

“It’s impossible to overstate how cool this location is for a brewery. Tucked all the way down on the water, actually out on the dock, with commanding views all the way around from the bridges, over the mountains, and away down the Sound. There’s nothing like it in the brewery world around Puget Sound, as far as I know. (In Bellingham, Chuckanut comes close, but it doesn’t look at scenery that’s quite this dramatic).

The space itself is kinda chopped up; you zigzag through this room and that room to get to the bar. Everything’s nice--nice clean hardwood floors, everything’s well taken care of, bathrooms are more than presentable (though not fancy at all). The staff are super friendly and nice for sure, and the prices are more than fair.

I’ve been hoping for the last few years that they’ll bump up the quality of the beer, and they’re getting more adventurous with the stuff they brew. Their beers are easy enough to drink, and the setting certainly makes it possible to thoroughly enjoy anything they put in front of you. And I know they have guys on the brew deck now who are more than capable. Right now, the beers still don’t have the clarity and personality that they’re capable of, but hopefully they’ll be able to sort that out with some new releases and whatnot soon. I will definitely be back to tip a few pints here. What a spectacular setting.“
