“2019-06-29. 8-9 taps today including the Bitter as both CO2 and nitro options, flights available. Beers were okay to good. The more traditional styles are generally a bit too mild overall for me. Nice space, feels fairly new. Tables, nice patio, couch in the corner. Service is friendly but a bit mixed - kitchen seems to be backed up based on the conversations we hear at other tables. Our food took a while and they got the toppings on our flatbread pizza order wrong (we just went with it) but brought us extra deep fried pickles so that kind of balanced out. Flatbread pizza was decent. Deep fried pickles were excellent. Food prices okay but portions were a bit smaller than I expected for the prices. Enjoyable visit despite a mixed review, and well worth a visit if you are in town.“

“This was my first of 5 breweries visited on last week's adventure to Newfoundland. Very fortuitous I hit this on my second night in NL (also spent a night in Portland, ME on the way up...but different craftbeer story)...absolutely great location in the gorgeous village of Twillingate. Hard to believe this brewery is in this town given how few there are in NL so far (10 I think). Although I was traveling with great beer (just in case)...it was really nice to try some local beer on my second evening in NL. The place is pretty cool...nice bar and tabled area...plus an outside patio. The staff was accommodating and kind...if not totally up to speed on the nerdier aspects of craftbeer (no points off for that...new brewery as of this year...in an area that previously had none). There were 9 taps...but one was out...so I did 2 flights and tried all 8 available beers. Unfortunately it was the closest thing to a hoppy beer that had kicked...the Park Day Pale Ale (is there a message here? lol!). But...the other beers were good to very good...and they even won me over on a couple of styles that are not normally favorites of mine...like the Red Sky Red Rye and Alli's Big Brown Ale. Best though was probably the Combines Ale and the Black Island Stout. Notable also was the Sour Patch B'ys: Amarillo. All in all...a very good start for this brewery out of the gate...with a lot of promise for future growth...and they are in a great travel destination locale. Don't miss them if in the area...and trust me...if you aren't specifically heading for Twillingate (or a few close by locales...like Fogo Island)...this is not a place you can easily go out of your way for...or stumble over...without a plan and at least one night's hotel. Make the effort though.“

“Stopped in here last week while on vacation in Newfoundland. The brewery is called Split Rock but their tap room is called Stage Head pub for some reason. They don't sell food and they only serve the beers they make. Anyhow, nice taproom lots of dark wood, 10 or so seats at the bar maybe a dozen other tables.and a small stage opposite the bar. I came in on a Thursday night there were maybe 6 other people in the place and two women working behind the bar. they had 9 beers on tap you can get a flight of 4 or a full pour. I started with the four and was going for another 4 when they informed me that two of the beers weren't available in a flight because they were limited runs I could only buy a full pour of those. Odd logic aside, how about selling me the other 3 in four ounce pours, sorry we can only sell 4 - 4 oz pours.in a flight. But she gave me a small taster of a couple of the ones I haden't tried. Anyhow the beer was good to great. The service although riddled with rules was friendly and attentive. I'd go back if I was in the area.“
