36 /100 La Costa in Bra (Restaurant) PLAZA Restaurant in the middle of main old city. Got 6 H2O beers on menue, which are hard to find. Nice location and view. |
90 /100 VIA SANTA MARIA IN CHIAVICA 6 Bar right up in the old town, 15 taps, 2 on cask!, 5 of their own, 10 guests, mostly Italian micros with a couple of London and Dutch beers. Fridge full of cans, mostly local brewers. The guy at Osteria la Mandorla is a partner here, this is the beer bar to their more wine focused bar. Great staff, good music, prices are decent, around €6 a pint, super place. |
82 /100 Osteria La Mandorla (Bar) VIA ALBERTO MARIO 23 Lovely Osteria just around the corner from the Arena. Small space inside, lots of people on the street. Has Maso Alto beers, all fresh and in good condition, which is good seeing as most people were drinking wine. €5 a pint which is really good. Lovely atmosphere, small plates of food, cool music, good staff, if in Verona a must. |
60 /100 VIALE DEL LAVORO 50 Located in one of the streets of central Verona, close to Stabuck and the street with upscale shops. Looks like a very fancy, modern place, all glass. Typical, tourist unfriendly opening hours (after 12). Some house beers on offer, flight available. If in search of a beer, then yes, but it lacks some of the "beer vibe". |
68 /100 VIA SANTA MARIA IN CHIAVICA 6 Tucked in one of the streets in the old part of Verona. Not the best opening hours for tourists, meaning opens after 12. Not much place outdoor, more inside. Looks like a typcial modern taproom. Nice offer on taps with a few of their house beers. Prices are...Italian. Probably the best place to get some beer in central Verona. |
64 /100 L’ArtigianAle Beer Shop (Beer Store) VIA GIOSUÈ CARDUCCI 41A Stopped in while attending the Christmas markets on holiday. Didn’t seem to have the amount of beers I’m accustomed to, but what they had was solid. Grabbed a few Italian beers although the had a diverse selection of countries. Being able to speak English helped too. |
62 /100 Caffe Marconi (Bar) VIA GUGLIELMO MARCONI 24 We visited here Saturday 7th September 2019, it was literally around the corner from the Air B&B where we were staying. Looking on the internet I suspect that this used to be a more traditional café type place, however now it is certainly more bar like with some dodgy music choices and plenty of Key Kegs in the window. They seemed to stock pretty much the entire range of Birra B20 (mostly in bottles though), who I note are from Bibione, on the coast north east of Venice. The owner who really spoke little or no English (but that's fine as my Italian is the same :-), anyway he appeared a bit of a character, he seemed quite proud of the brewery, so I don't know if there is an attachment, h also very kindly passed on a little slice of pizza 'gratis' for us to have with our beer. We had the Birra B20 14th and the Edgard and sat outside at the front, in what really was a smokers area, however to be fair there was more seating on the side street but most of those seats were taken. Its a corner café, about 8-10 minutes walk from the centre and easy to find. I didn't really look that much inside, the bar was a dog/leg shape, it was a smallish place. I suspect that this may be a place that sinks or swims, so I am interested to see what subsequent raters make of it. I am sorry for the lack of finer detail, i.e. lack of opening times, tap choice etc we were due to meet friends and I never got to see what was on tap, just ordering from the beer menu card that the owner proudly passed onto us. However re: taps as mentioned there were quite a few Key Kegs in the window. |
74 /100 Osteria La Mandorla (Bar) VIA ALBERTO MARIO 23 La Mandorla is a lovely little place (with the emphasis on little btw). It's very centrally located on Via Alberto Mario and just a stones throw from the arena. We only managed to get here once on Saturday 7th September 2019, and even then just 20mins before closing (they shut after lunch and reopen late afternoon/early evening). We tried to revisit again but it was rammed on every occasion.
Inside it's cosy and feels like it has an interesting history, mostly wood, narrow with the bar straight ahead. Old well worn tables and chairs and a very lived in feel. Whilst there are only a few taps, the choice was interesting with a few offerings from Maso Alto Brewery who I guess are local'ish' as they are just north of Trento, we had the Ruspante and Selvatica, both were pretty good. There also appeared to be a good selection of wine. We really liked this place and wished we could have revisited. |
62 /100 Bar Bra (Bar) VIA DEGLI ALPINI, 7 We visited here Saturday 7th September 2019, we were here for the weekend with Kostas and Giovanna after a work retreat in Venice. Bar bra is located close to the Arena on Via Degli Alpini and near Piazza Bra which gives it, its name, though you cannot see the Arena from here.
We sat outside at one of the tables up against the wall and soon realised that the bar is a popular meeting/dropping off place for people on walking tours and interestingly folk of a certain age as everyone appeared 20+years older than us.
I did pop inside, once to select our beers from the fridge (it's on the right just after you enter). The second time I visited was to use the toilet, note that they are at the rear around the back of the bar and one of them is the old fashioned French built into the floor squat type. It's quite dark inside, it had an eighties feel about it, three or four video machines were against one wall a large TV screen and Loz noted that they store all the walking tour bags here.
Beer choice wasn't great however I did manage to find two new beers namely a Bulldog which I recall drinking about 30 years ago when working in the Isle of Wight, back then I am sure it was brewed by Courage. Loz had a French Tripel. Prices were good, service good, it was fine enough. |
80 /100 Osteria La Mandorla (Bar) VIA ALBERTO MARIO 23 Gorgeous little bar 100 metres from the Arena, so convenient for the Opera. Traditional decor, light snacks, a few beers and many wines.
About a dozen beers, all craft, roughly 6 draft, six bottled. A majority were from Maso Alto and most acceptable. |
74 /100 VIALE DEL LAVORO 50 Well worth going out of the centre of town for, but I advise you to take a taxi. Glass, steel and concrete, international brewpub style. Sets of four samples at €6. Good range of beers. Good food, too, but I'd go fro a burger or a salad, my piece of lasagna was very small. Friendly service, decent beers. |
100 /100 Cicerone (Restaurant) VIA MARCONI 22 Beer was very great, and i want to suggest everyone this place |
82 /100 Cicerone (Restaurant) VIA MARCONI 22 Great beer in bottle.Mikkkeler,de molen and other top brewery. |
100 /100 Celtic Pub (Bar) VIA SANTA CHIARA 1 I worked in Verona for 3 months last year and the Celtic became my local. Everyone in there was so friendly and welcoming, especially Corrado behind the bar. Great selection of beers with new ones coming in all the time, all the spirits you need you will find too. If you like sport and good music, the Celtic is the place! |
98 /100 Celtic Pub (Bar) VIA SANTA CHIARA 1 A pub like the one you would like to have in your place. Enter in the small pretty location you’ll can feel at home. Absolutely recommended! |
100 /100 Celtic Pub (Bar) VIA SANTA CHIARA 1 Excellent pub offering a wide selection of beers and spirits. Great atmosphere and crowd, popular with both locals and tourists. Definitely recommended for a night out, a Sunday session or even for a quiet, quick pint in the afternoon. |
100 /100 Celtic Pub (Bar) VIA SANTA CHIARA 1 The best pub in Verona is also the best pub in Italy, a home from home. Great crowd and great birra! |
98 /100 Celtic Pub (Bar) VIA SANTA CHIARA 1 This is a great little pub with a really decent selection of beers, including my favourite tennents export! The food is really tasty too and there’s always an interesting mix of friendly locals and visitors at the bar. Perfect for watching the football and rugby or just enjoying a pint! |
100 /100 Celtic Pub (Bar) VIA SANTA CHIARA 1 The Celtic Pub is by all means THE place to drink beer in Verona. Here you’ll find a cozy place with a terrific selection of beers populated by great people from all over the world. Corrado is the awesome guy you’ll find behind the bar. Trust him, he will not disappoint you! Step in for a pint! |
72 /100 Osteria La Mandorla (Bar) VIA ALBERTO MARIO 23 4 taps of italian craft beers, 2 of them really good (one Session IPA and one American Wheat). Few bottle from Extraomnes too. In the city of Verona, very poor in craft beer bars, la mandorla is a very nice place. |
72 /100 Osteria La Mandorla (Bar) VIA ALBERTO MARIO 23 More of a wine bar than a beer place. Four taps: one good italian IPA. But a great, really great wine choice!!! Very limited food considering that half the options contained horse meat (but a good small mortadela sandwich). Very nice knowledgeable service. |
80 /100 Osteria La Mandorla (Bar) VIA ALBERTO MARIO 23 Two taps, and a good bottle selection for the avarege of the town. -:- Due spine ma un frigo mediamente ben rifornito rispetto alla media dei locali.
|
44 /100 Bar Bra (Bar) VIA DEGLI ALPINI, 7 Not a very nice place. Outside you sit almost in the busy street, but if you need a change from boring no taste italien lager, it is OK. He has a small collection of belgians. I had a Duvel and my wife a Kriek. |
50 /100 Ostreghetteria Sottoriva 23 (Restaurant) 23 VIA SOTTORIVA Visited with Mrs. Jackl while in on holiday in Italy. The restaurant is found easily enough from the main attractions in the center of Verona. As soon as I sat down and saw the menu, I was very worried. The menu advertised only generic beers like Peroni. I asked my waiter if they had any ’birra artiginale’, he responded that they did, then took me to their cooler to show the selection. Why a restaurant wouldn’t advertise their complete beer selection on the drinks menu is completely beyond me. The restaurant had about 5 widely-distributed but good Belgians such as Chimay Bleu and LaChouffe. When asked about their artisanal Italian beers, the waiter regrettably informed me that they were completely out of stock. On the up side, the food is actually quite tasty and cheap. The pasta is recommended. So, as a restaurant, this place is quite good. But for those seeking out only beer, I’d suggest calling ahead to see if their selection has been replenished. |
78 /100 Ostreghetteria Sottoriva 23 (Restaurant) 23 VIA SOTTORIVA Admittedly I cannot remember the name and have given it a generic one, but I have pinned down the address exactly thanks to Google. This place had an amazing selection of beers (for Italy), including a number of Italian beers I did not see anywhere else. Also fair number of Belgians, Germans, British and even a few Americans. Staff was helpful in going through the selection. Most 33cl bottles are 5-7euro, with 75cl being 12-20 euro. Food was good too! |
70 /100 Kulmbacher Bier-Haus (Bar) VIA MARCONI 72 lots of Kulmbacher beers on tap. 10 minutes walk from the train station. Good atmosphere and friendly service |
58 /100 Bar Bra (Bar) VIA DEGLI ALPINI, 7 Another place with a few beers that just was what I was not looking for. Few good beers but not really intersting. |
74 /100 Kulmbacher Bier-Haus (Bar) VIA MARCONI 72 A large & very busy. traditional Bavarian bar in the heart of Verona. Waiters & waitresses in traditional costumes but there were not enough of them for the number of customers. So service was slow. Good range of Kulmbacher beers and food quality excellent. Best place for beer I found in Verona. Only downside for me no Italian beers sold. |
58 /100 Bar Bra (Bar) VIA DEGLI ALPINI, 7 Cafe Bar on the main piazza in Verona. 3 draught beers on tap (2 from Forst & Weihenstephaner Hefe Weizen) and a fridge full of interesting bottles. Atmosphere inside is a bit flat but the bar is in a great location which is the main reason to go here. Food is a bit basic and service just OK. |
