62 /100 1 CRATER RIM DR, HAWAI'I VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
“We actually just stopped in to Volcano House because my wife wanted to see if there was anything worthwhile in the give shop and I wanted to check out the view of the Halemaumau Crater and Kilauea, but turns out they had this little bar as well. Limited selection of beers, but they were all Hawaiian offerings at least. Just basic stuff from Kona, Maui, and Big Island that you can get at any bar, gas station, or grocery store on the island. But I guess if you're desperate or are staying in the hotel here, it's a nice option to have. The best part of this place is that you have an amazing view of the crater. While we visited happened to be during the only 4-5 month period in the last several decades that there wasn't any lava actively flowing/no eruptions occurring, but the park is still awesome and definitely worth a visit.“

60 /100 35 PII MAUNA DRIVE
“On the way here my GPS navigator told me "please leave the road." Not what you want to hear when you're driving on the rim of a volcano crater. But not to worry, the winery has a short gravel road leading to the parking area. Inside are two rooms of shelves with bottles and wine accessories, plus a small serving bar with samples. If you're in a group you can sit or stand at any of the several bar tables and a tasting person will come to you. I stood at the serving bar and asked for glasses of the two meads on offer, and offered to pay, but the guy let me slide. Luckily there is a tip jar on the bar. The tea mead was a bit pricey at $36 a bottle, the regular one was better at $20, and both can be bought online. I should have paid attention to the bottle prices at stores but I failed. You can get the regular honey mead at most liquor stores on any of the islands, but I only saw the tea infusion one here. It's tasty and unique, so this makes an easy and enjoyable stop a mere five minutes' drive from the entrance of Volcanoes National Park.“

60 /100 1 CRATER RIM DR, HAWAI'I VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
“This is a hotel across the street from the Volcano National Park's Visitor Center. As Josh said, it has a great view of the crater, both through big plate glass windows and from the back patio - and there are no tour busses here. Lavaman Red is the obvious beer to have here of course. You can also have a quick look at the men's sauna, built over a natural steam vent. It was closed when an earthquake shifted the vents and the rooms got steam no more. Easy and worthwhile stop.“

60 /100 1 CRATER RIM DR, HAWAI'I VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK
“Getting a decent beer in the park isn’t actually that hard. George’s has seven taps, all micros (Kona & Maui). With a view overlooking the Kilauea Crater, it’s one of the best-situated places on the big island to have a beer as well.“
