64 /100 Nick’s of Clinton (Grocery Store) 3953 ST. CHARLES PKWY Small market with decent selection of regional craft. All six and four packs, a few singles available. 8 taps. Not worth the stop for me. |
68 /100 Nick’s of Clinton (Grocery Store) 3953 ST. CHARLES PKWY Small independent grocery store in a small shopping plaza on the corner of the intersection. Solid selection of craft beer and some macros. Half refrigerated and half non-refrigerated. Nothing you can’t really find elsewhere but this would be a good shop if you lived in Waldorf for whatever reason. Prices were fairly reasonable. An okay stop if you happen to be in Waldorf for something, otherwise skip it. |
74 /100 Nick’s of Clinton (Grocery Store) 3953 ST. CHARLES PKWY
Nick’s of Clinton is a good local grocery store with a much better than expected selection of brews from which to choose. The store carries a variety of domestic and foreign beers, including Sam Adams, Tröegs, Chimay, Paulaner, Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada, and more.
I have spoken to the beer rep on the phone a few times, and he was more than willing to attempt to special order a few things for me, though this never came to fruition.
The thing that sets Nick’s of Clinton apart from the other beer stores in the area is pricing. While the prices at Nick’s of Clinton are fair, competitive, and reasonable, the other three decent beer stops in this area price their beers at least a dollar or two above the going rate.
UPDATE 21 Feb 2012
I really like the new beers making their way onto the shelves. Lots of Goose Island, Jolly Pumpkin, Belgian gift sets, limited releases from DuClaw. I am becoming more and more of a fan of my local beer stop. |
80 /100 Nick’s of Clinton (Grocery Store) 3953 ST. CHARLES PKWY I stopped in a couple weeks ago while my wife and I were visiting her parents in La Plata and I was amazed at the selection. I was seeking out beers that we don’t get here in southwest Florida, and I must say that I was not disappointed in the slightest. They had a very nice selection of large format bottles on the shelves as well as six packs in coolers. For the area, I’d say it would be hard to beat the selection that is available at Nick’s. If you’re in the area, make sure that you check it out. |
