“Midway down the street just before the road turns away from the seafront towards Dover, this green painted pub in suburbia and is hidden until you come up on it. Open plan around an 'L' shaped bar it has a fair selection of cask brews, a nice atmosphere and feels more homely in its decor than traditional. There's also a pleasant rear enclosed garden terrace.“

“Hidden in a very quiet street, just off the beach, sits this old school pub. The outside is painted completely green, and the name on the pub's facade is "The Green Berry", despite the website still just mentioning "The Berry". Whatever, came here on a weekday around lunch time. The inside had a bit of a withered interior, a hand full of regulars in their regular spot at the bar and one or two people smoking outside. Apparently there's no kids allowed inside, which is a strange thing for us, Belgians. Luckily the weather was nice, and we could sit outside with the kids on the small patio. Only half pints, no 3rds, so I had only 3 beers here with some lunch we could bring in (from a nice bakery near the beach, just down the street). Would've loved to stay longer and have some more beers, because the selection was amazing and prices reasonable. Ah, another time I suppose... ;-) Definitely worth a detour, probably the best place in the rural area!“

We took a pleasant stroll on Saturday 12th March 2016, we being me, Loz and Ian (Harrisoni) walking along the seafront from The Just Reproach in Deal to The Berry or to be completely accurate The Green Berry in Walmer. It was a nice stroll of about 15-20 mins on a lovely day. I understand that this pub got its name from being sited opposite the old barracks where the local infantryman were stationed.

If the exterior of this place were in white livery, it would appear quite non-deScript and very much in keeping with the other properties on Canada Street, however it is bright green and so as you turn into the road it is unmissable. Inside it is quite a good sized place, the bar is ahead and sits on the LH wall this room dog legs around the bar and opens out more to the RH side of the bar a further room which seems to be knocked through to at the rear has a pool table and the toilets are off to the LH side at the rear. A couple of TV screens were showing the Six Nations, the barman was sporting his England Rugby top.

It was clearly a lively, popular and much loved place, the welcome was friendly and the atmosphere vibrant it would be a great pub for your local. The choice of beers was excellent off the top of my head I think that I counted about 27-28 beers and ciders on offer, with about 21 handpump and keg offerings. It is nice to see a strong Kent presence with Time and Tide dominating the Kegs, there are also a few permanent fixtures on cask such as Hophead and Harveys Best Bitter. I understand that three of the handpumps are given over to guest beers at the weekend and on our visit these were Oakham beers, however sadly two had already run dry by the time we arrived.

I liked it here and cannot believe the good fortune that the locals of Deal and Walmer have with this place, The Just Reproach and our next visit The Freed all making for a nice pub crawl.“

“Terrace house pub in Walmer south of Deal. Multiple Camra award winning pub with 9 handpulls and 6 keykeg beers often from London breweries and Time & Tide brewery. Acts as unofficial tap for the Time & Tide brewery. Service is always friendly and efficient. Excellent pub and not many if any can compare in East Kent“

“CAMRA Branch Pub Of The Year, and it’s quite easy to see why. The selection here is immense compared to anywhere nearby. Lots of choice, a little bit of something for everyone and some real ciders too. Warm, friendly atmosphere - even got a "come back soon" as we left, which was a little odd but welcoming! The place lives and breathes beer, as is evident by the decor of pump clips... but that’s no bad thing!“
