62 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 Reasonably sized liquor store, convenient for people in the neighborhood but not somewhere you would usually wind-up. Plenty of beers to be found at okay prices but this place has not been keeping up with the beer scene, almost comically so. Loads of “streek” beers, tripel, blond, murky affairs, any attempts at newer styles are often made by poorer quality old fashioned breweries that do not really understand the new styles. Things were like that already many years ago. |
78 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 I've been visiting this place for about three years now. Service is just excellent. Nice people, noth the owner and his daugher. Both are really interested in beers. The guy knows his stuff and tries to get his hand on the "good stuff". Some good finds here, regular new deliveries of bottles from new breweries etc.
He really tries ( plenty of geuze, usually a decent selection of 3 fonteinen, tilquin, girardin though seldom the hard to find ones ), I have no doubt but he's got lots of bottles from crappy breweries ( keukenbrouwers, ... ) too and he tends to overstock on good but pericheable brews too ( a session wheat ale you don't want to taste a year past it's bottling date like Ermitage's Soleil,... same goes for IPA's,. .) so, please check the labels but there's always some decent finds available at reasonable prices. Prices can be a bit erratic though: sometimes he overcharges, sometimes ( het nest aquavit BA for 2 eurs ) he could have asked more... For those who are interested a small section of foreign beers is available, stocks get replenished as soon as the old stock is out the door which might take a while, looks like some tick hunters like me will pick up some but not quite all of too many of the beers he stocks up on... If you live nearbye the place is definately woth checking out from time to time. I never leave without a bottle or two. For me the cheapest near Antwerp with De Kroon offering too little choice and change of beers and Willems being too far to be called "Antwerp". |
86 /100 Bierhandel De Kroon (Beer Store) TURNHOUTSEBAAN 448 Very good bottle shop offering a terrific range of Belgian Ales. Service was great as well: Very friendly, engaging in a little chat and packing everything nicely up in cardboard boxes. Well recommended. |
76 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 Visited for the first time today and I can honestly say it was a pleasant surprise. This bottle shop resides in a fairly quiet part of Antwerp’s Suburbia, the place is clean and effective, though I would not mind if the parking space were a bit more accessible. Service is correct, and the selection outmatched my expectations: a great deal of effort is made here to gather as many Antwerp and Kempen ’streekbieren’ (regional specialties) as possible, with several names I hadn’t even heard of before. Some foreign beers too, including things like Weird Beard and Naparbier. And I probably should not mention this, but I even spotted Westvleteren 12 on the shelves... Unexpectedly good, very reasonably priced and exciting bottle shop for ’Antwerpian’ regional beers, will surely go back if this plans to evolve any further in the direction they have chosen. |
70 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 Never been here, but this was "Plan B" because Willems, Grobbendonk was closed at Tuesday. Nice gems and some usual suspects, a lot of beers of Gavershopke. Light in the beerhall was not bright to read the bottles properly. Also Westmalle Extra is for sale here. |
60 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 Rather good selection of beers, I went there for the Westmalle Exra, the owner was very helpful, but one thing I hate I every store: NO price tags.... god damn I hate that... i am on a budget and if there is one thing i hate it is that I have the possibility that I have to leave beers behind at the register because its to much. |
90 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 can’t believe i did not rate this yet?
the guy who works here is AWSOME. he might not be your new craft-beer-guide ( thinking for instance, doesjel is with extra cherries...° but he goes WAY out of line , just to help you . both for individuals and proffesionals. he helped me for over 1,5 hours to help me with whatever i ask him. he’s a REALY nice guy, therefor, service should get 150 % !
they have a good amount of belgian beers ( some nice things as well) and to be so close to me, its a good place to shop for whatever. dont expect anything foreign or retired , though. plus its growing TOO fast, so a lot of things are out of stock ( even at the brewery ... ) |
68 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 Big cold wharehouse of beers. Decent selection but not great (Hopduvel, Gent is far superior). Prices are OK and the staff helpful. Worth a visit. |
52 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 This is the closest deasant shop in Antwerp for some beers. The price is ok and a good selection. But, it really can do a better job. The shop doesn’t look like it, there can be a bigger choice, ...
It’s ok, but nothing more |
58 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 Decent selection of macro and microbrews. Few geuze. |
60 /100 Wijnegemse Drankenhal (Beer Store) MERKSEMSEBAAN 179-183 Visited this shop today for the first time. The first looks are not good, looks a bit small, unpleanant to shop supermarket feeling shop... But the beer selection is pretty various and wide. Bought me 20+ bottles of beers, but when comming home (and start catalogizing my beers) I discovered also this shop don’t really seems to botter to look at exparation dates from time to time... Hate when comming home with beers that are overtime, and can’t take the time to watch them all while shopping... But the next times I will take my time for sure... At least the prices are pretty normal. Will go back if nearby, but won’t drive just to visite that shop anymore... |
