“Downtown location, short walk from Bullfrog. Very bare bones compared to Bullfrog. Short bar, smattering of tables. Food available. Limited tap list on my visit (4). Good service though.“

“We came here on 18.11.2018. Very close to Bullfrog this is another great beer place in Williamsport. Like this small town more and more, has a distinct character and good beers! Very long wooden bar (great!!!), beer flags and signs - offbeat interior (e.g. a bottle opener collection). 25 beers on tap - very good selection (a lot of Islay whiskeys!) We had a Pumpkin Ale (New Belgium) and a Juicy Lucy (Wellsboro House PA). Good music and nice service. Such a bar you would like to have in your neighborhood. “

“We came here on 17.11.2018 just before visiting Bullfrog as it is very close by. Small place, a lot of kitchen smell. We were sitting at the small bar. Beers were flat and light of flavor, not terrible. Seems the locals are drinking out of wooden mugs. Ben would recommend them to install a better air ventilation system.“

“We came here on 17.11.2018. This brewpub opened in 1996 and is one of the pioneers of the PA craft beer scene. The backside of the house is full of beautiful paintings. When entering you immediately see an old copper brewhouse to your right. We were sitting on the long bar in front of a double row of beer tanks and a mirrow behind. They have 16 beers and one Cider on tap. We liked all of the beers we tasted. My favorites were the Edgar IPA and the Le Roar Kriek. Seems they recently opened a Sour beer production facility close by. The day we visited they released a few sour beers in bottles. Very friendly service, always willing to give us samples even from the bottled sour ones. The whole atmosphere is very cozy and friendly. Williamsport is very much out of the way, but Bullfrog is worth the trip.“

“Thanks to my cousin for driving us over to Williamsport, a medium sized city PA city that you probably wouldn't visit unless you were going to watch the little league world series. Bullfrog is located in an older building across the street from city hall. There are high ceilings, high tables, and brew tanks. Overall the vibe is traditional and old school, but the beers are sometimes unconventional. They have a good range of their brews available, and on the day I was there they had several superb fruit beers and ciders on tap in addition to more standard IPAs and the like. Service was friendly and the prices were good. I didn't eat a full meal, but the soup I tried was as good as their beer. I wish their beers were more widely available, but until that day comes I am looking forward to my next visit.“

“Got into town and was hungry and thirsty. Was walking elsewhere and happened to notice the brewpub. Took a seat at the bar and decided to try a flight. There were only 6 options so the flight of 6 was an easy choice. Trying the first there was a tang and insipid taste to the beer.......the second had the same problem, the third.....all had the odd taste except for the highly hopped IPA which may have had the hops covering it up as it was quite faint. I could not finish the flight and went elsewhere to eat, I was really hoping not to have to walk a bunch more but on this particular day there was something very wrong with the beer. Hopefully it was a one off and is corrected quickly.“

“Located in Downtown Williamsport just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Bullfrog. It’s a fairly small storefront with a few tables on the sidewalk and a smallish bar. They only had 6 beers on tap and only the Hefe really stood out for me. It’s a pretty new place so perhaps they’ll grow into something greater.“

“Located in West Willamsport about two miles from Downtown, the area has more of PA small town feel than an urban one which I think is one of the plusses of the place. It’s definitely a neighborhood place which is good.. It’s a small, tidy, comfortable place with the bar area to your right and the restaurant area to the left. They had 16 different taps including 2-3 ciders. The beers were all pretty solid and reasonably priced. The brewer/owner was behind the bar and he’s certainly personable and has a great passion for beer. The burger and fries were also quite tasty. I’ll definitely stop by again.“

“Night 2 in W-port, another brewpub----------14 choices of well done brews. Evidently the brewer understands more is not always better. Ordered a flight and a Rosemary and Thyme beer was quite impressive to start on the low side, then ran the gauntlet and went all the way to a 2 year old Barleywine. Food is a shortened pub fare menu (I had the avocado, cc and spinach balls), but I was there for the beer and was not disappointed. I did not realize it was a brewpub before walking in the door. An impressive operation but the beer......the brewer just understands. I will gladly return and hope to have more time. It’s located on a side street in Williamsport but is well worth finding if you’re really into well done brews for everyone. A few sours, IPAs, and some done to the style to a T. I’d love to have this place in my home town.“

“Visited the first of two Brewpubs in Williamsport and only ordered a flight. It is a great location and a great looking brewpub with tin ceilings and brite tanks galore. A list of 10 brews was wittled down to 7. The beer had very little variation. It appears possibly the same yeast is used in several and left for a similar taste of differing styles. It was a bit lacking. I will say the beer was fair, and OK, but not astounding. It did not have that one amazing brew that just blew me away. I did not try the food, but it appeared to be pub fare, which is fine so long as I’m excited about the beer. I was disappointed, perhaps I’ll give it a try next time I’m in W-port.....but tomorrow going to the other brewpub a bit further west. REVISITED after a long trip. They love their IPAs and had several on the eve of Christmas Eve, but also ciders, wild beasties and a sour or so.....perhaps the time of the season but a far more enjoyable tap list.“

Wegmans - Williamsport (Grocery Store)
201 WILLIAM ST
“$11.99 for a sixer-mixer, but available selection looks like less than half of what they have in regular sixers and cases. Probably something to find, though I’m more interested in the food in the rest of the store, and perhaps most importantly, the free parking allowing me to jump over to Bullfrog.“

“Pressed tin ceilings, or at least they look like it from distance. Really homey, lived-in, in a great way, a little crude but bright and a very happy vibe, easy convo with strangers, very family friendly (four families with kids in when I was there for lunch). Lots of bluegrass and folk-country music that day, food hit the spot. Flight was self-chosen seven of nine on tap at the time. Not too sure I’ll be going back to Williamsport, but I’m happy to have the kriek whenever I find it and am impressed by the Brett expression they get out of multiple beers (and ciders). Easier parking in the Kohl’s / Wegman’s lot.“

“I arrived at 11:55. A staff member locked the door behind a girl that walked in about 15 seconds in front of me. I inquired "your site says you’re open until 2" "not tonight" he said. "I drove here straight from New hampshire. Can I have one beer?" "sorry, we had last call already" I stood outside for 10 minutes looking into the place, the brewery, the taps and smiling people enjoying their last pints. It looks really nice and their prices look good but I’ll never go back. There’s literally nothing else to do in this hick town.“

“Pretty cool setup with about four tanks directly behind the bar. Older looking place, but has a cool old school feel to it. Few tables with limited seating. Bartenders were very friendly! Beer was above average. They have cool wooden food trays that attach to the top of the bar for you to eat from. Nearby are the Little League World Series fields.“

“First visited in Aug-2012 but we’ve gone back every year since (4 times) and am always happy to stop here on our way to camping. Setup is a long bar with all the tanks behind it, lots of hi-top wooden tables and often lots of locals at the bar. Food choices have ranged (sandwiches and wraps and the like, pulled pork Rico style? fajizzas?!), but it’s usually quite good. Beer selection is solid, a fair lot of their own on tap and we always manage to find a couple new ones when we go. Definitely worth the stop if you’re nearby or travelling through on the highways. “Maybe it was the night I was there. I had heard so much about the place, both good and bad, like a lot of places, but was really looking forward to the visit. I had great hopes, but, I was disappointed. I though the beer was OK but not great. The service was OK but not great. the food, OK, but not great. I’m glad I went, and if I’m ever back in town, may go back, but without great expectations.“

Wegmans - Williamsport (Grocery Store)

“Not as nice as some Wegmans. Good beer selection for a grocery store. We ate the cafe food which was ok. The person who made my pizza did not understand the meaning of gloves. He put down the trash bag he was holding, handled all over the outside of the gloves while trying to put them on, then put his hands on his waist on his dirty apron, and dug around in his pockets, then handled my food- gross. But the beer selection is pretty good for a grocery store.“

“When we walked in, a strong off odor turned me off. It was kind of like ketchup and stale beer and something else...Also, the Little Leaguers were in town so it was noisy with kids (but I’m not holding that against them). Service was fine- not terrible, but not great- also not that knowledgeable about the beer. Decent selection of their own brews- a good range of styles with a couple winners. Food was fine. Prices were pretty good.“

“Located in downtown Williamsport. Has an outdoor seating area along with a large bar area. Has kind of a sports bar vibe. When I visited they had 12 on tap and maybe 20 bottles but maybe 1/2 of them were craft though they somehow got in some KBS which is why I was there. There’s not much to really recommend about the place nor can I say this is much of a craft beer destination and I don’t see myself going back anytime soon.“

“Visited a couple of times during the Grrrz release. The brewpub’s a simple wood-paneled room with plenty of space for food service. Williamsport was overrun by beer bros that weekend, and the bar frankly struggled at times to handle the crowd. The 10ish beers on tap offered a good range of styles. While the sours predictably got most of the crowd’s attention, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Bullfrog’s pils and hoppy stuff. The food menu was worryingly expansive, but everything our group tried was pretty awesome. Portions were huge, too.

A note on the Grrrz release itself: Bullfrog struggled to fill orders at a rate faster than one customer per minute, so the substantial line moved very, very slowly. Expect to wait a long time. Bring a folding chair and pray for good weather.“

“Visited for the Le Roar Grrrz variants bottle release and the night before. Standard pub atmosphere with tables throughout and a good sized bar. Friendly service though it took awhile to put our names down for a table maybe due to the volume of people coming for the bottle release but a host/hostess would help, couple next to us ended up leaving. Solid selection of house beers, a bit hit or miss for me. Flight of 7 beers available but they were out of clean taster glasses, a bit disappointing. Tasty food for the most part, eggplant fries recommended by Travlr were very good. Fried kraut balls were okay. Ordered a burger which was tasty but came out on the medium well side rather than the medium rare I asked for.

Bottle release the next day was slow with a bottleneck at the ID/payment/pick-up process. Worth a stop if you’re in the area but can’t say I’d go back just for the bottle releases with the popularity and line waiting.“

“Downtown brewery, I did not see any parking lots nearby so that could be tricky. Pretty crowded on a Friday afternoon. Did not try the food. Staff was friendly and helpful. Flight of seven beers, a couple fell flat but otherwise unique and good. Tin roof, brewery behind the bar, lots of posters for past Mardi Gras kings and queens. Prices decent. Overall a decent stop.“

“Small family owned place just on the edge of town. Quiet on a Friday night, but with locals drifting in and out. Brewer’s daughter staffed the bar, she was very friendly and had helpful beer suggestions. Mom/brewer’s wife was in the kitchen, but she says she just does the food prep now. Beers were decent, well made, available in flights of six. Worth a stop.“

“Visited for a bottle release. Well, actually, I thought I’d stop in briefly the night before the release, just for a peek. Ended up staying until closing time. Amazing bluegrass band, fund patrons really into the beer and music. Terrific staff, quick, efficient and friendly despite gyrating bodies everywhere. The beers ranged from OK to amazing. Food was above and beyond. Oh, and the bottle release was well organized, with plenty of bottles to make everyone happy, tasty beers on tap, and plenty of the same good food. It turned out we really didn’t need to line up early for the release, so if I come for another I’d still hang out til 2 the night before, but then I’d sleep in. A must-stop, and worth going well out of your way to visit.“

“I love this place. A very new brew-pub in town with a ton of promise. The atmosphere is very family friendly and the staff is extremely inviting. The beer menu is adventurous and always features something new. When beers make a reappearance, they often feature a tweaked recipe (e.g. PB&J ale with strawberry or grape). The food is outstanding and the menu rotates every week. Definitely stop on in.“

“A typical Wegmans, though the beer selection is seemingly smaller then others I have visited. The selections is not as localized as other stores, its a shame that Bullfrog doesn’t bottle more as the Brewpub is a block a way. They have a small mix a six, lots of bombers and an assortment of sixers. The beer rotates and there are many seasonals.“

“Great brew pub in the downtown Williamsport area. I stop in whenever I am in the area for a beer or two. I have never had the opportunity to grab a bite but hope to soon. I have only been in the afternoons while it is not busy. The bartenders are knowledgeable and I’ve had many enjoyable conversations about the beer and the process. The beers are constantly changing, its great that they are so ambitious but it also means the chances of you seeing a beer twice is limited. I like the current emphasis on wild and sours.“

“Probably the most overrated place in the area. The food is nothing special and I’ve never had a beer that blew my socks off. I’ve been back 3-4 times since I’ve posted this review. I’ve had some a couple of tasty beers, especially the coffee saison, but it’s not a place I immediately want to go to. Update 6-22-13 I’ve had a bit of a rethink about this place. If its so mediocre and overrrated why do I keep going back? They have maybe 10 taps but other the the Billtown Blonde and the Edgar IPA everything is always changing. That’s pretty ambitious I’d say and worth keeping an eye on.“

“Nice grocery store with a decent beer selection located in a separate section (some kind of PA law I guess). You won’t have to go out of your way because the store is pretty much downtown, walking distance from Bullfrog easy to get to and with plenty of parking. Supposedly the best selection in town. Plenty of singles which is not all that common in PA. I found many small distribution breweries from this area of PA (such as plenty of Otto’s and the now defunct Bavarian Barbarian). Plus the usual typical breweries widely distributed in PA. Worth a stop if only for some small breweries from this area that are not distributed all over PA.“

I hear there is quizzo during the weak, and other fun things to do. Had a nice time. Only one little tv if you are interested in watching any sporting events, its probably not the place.“

“2012-08-17. Nice location in a small town, visible tanks, decently long bar. High ceilings and assorted chairs. It has an eclectic feel about it. Food was pretty solid. Not sure why my request to have a different dressing on my wrap meant it had to be on the side, but that made it a bit awkward to apply. Beers varied from okay to pretty solid, the Edgar IPA being a standout. They had a decent selection of their own beers on and a couple of guest taps. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. There is a Wegman’s around the corner as well with bottles for sale. “

“my wife’s family is from buffalo, so i make it a point to stop here on the way home every time we go visit to fill a couple growlers. the edgar IPA is one of the best made in PA. they have a couple beers i keep an eye out for, but i haven’t seen them in quite some time. maybe terry took the recipes with him when he left? i’ll probably never know. they still experiment a decent amount which is nice, but recently haven’t had anything earth-shattering. food is decent... nicely priced. but i’m here for the beer. they have live music a couple times a week, although i’ve never been there for it. just make sure you adhere to what the sign on the door recommends: do not park in the adjacent parking lot during business hours. someone bored office worker must sit at a window and call the towing company even before you’ve put your car in park if you don’t belong... i make it a point to stop here every chance i get.“

“Went up to Bullfrog with a friend of mine for the El Diablo Deluxe release. Atmosphere was good. Plenty of people all around enjoying a few beers with friends. Service was good. It took a good bit of time for our server to come over but once she did it was all smooth sailing from then on. The beer selection was good. No guest taps but Bullfrog’s beers were plenty for me. Since it was friday they had the "Beers Gone Wild" line on. It was a sour porter and it was very interesting and tasted great. I was hoping they would have something on the cask line but no dice on this trip. Food was really good. I had the cheese head burger with sweet potato fires. The burger was cooked just right and the fries were crispy and tasted great. If you are in the area you should definitely go here. The food is great and the beer is top notch.“
