“Perpetually moving *something* seems to be a curse put both on Brlog and Varoška in Zadar - and this year, Varoška opened yet another new place (having closed the nice Stjepana Radića location), this time even more central, in Zadar's historical center, in Varoš itself actually, a few doors down the street from the iconic Crazy Pizza place, hah. Anyway, what is it like now? It's a two-in-one place really, there's a tiny, dark bar area with several taps, a beer fridge, and a couple of standing tables, and on the building's corner, you have the rest of the place, a typical pub interior, if bar-free, with only the streetside patio connecting them. I was unlucky enough to arrive at the moment when they were going to renovate the place - the board still stated Varoška Hoppy Saison and some Brlog stuff (including a tick for me), along with some other craft and Paulaner Helles, but there was only Paulaner on tap then... There was some Brlog stuff in the fridge, however. Didn't stick around for long because of it sadly. Hope to revisit it next year when it's in full force (if I didn't compensate the fact that I visited it at the wrong time, the score would've obviously be far lower) - I do hope they won't have to move again. If it's still there when you visit, go for it!“

“A pleasant, classy bar in Zadar's historical center, with a small patio outside. Friendly service, chill atmosphere. Thing is - it has zero (0) craft beers of any kind - it's a MolsonCoors / Zagrebačka pivovara bar, but a slightly higher scale one with at least one Grif special on tap (their Black IPA), and several other not-uninteresting MC beers. Which kinda does make it one of the better places in town, considering even weaker selection elsewhere. Their whiskey selection seems stronger than their beer selection too. I mean, a nice place to have a beer / something, you should find some ticks too as well, no reason not to drop by while going to the very few other interesting places in the center.“

“To say that Brlog's journey was crazy and that their past was rocky, would be an understatement. Having moved twice in pretty much a year (yes, you read it right), they finally settled in Zadar's Višnjik area, close to the big sports hall and the big Kaufland store, and have turned it into a lively production facility, improvising and making by hand everything they could, as is their tireless community spirit. The brewery working hours serve as shop hours as well, you can come and get some bottles. Google only states the working hours of the taproom w/patio (and a really cute one) - with 4 taps, a fridge full of beers, craft coffee, juices and so on. Good prices as well for their beers, both directly and in the bar. Service - well, I got 15/10 service by Ana, one of the two spiritus moventes of the brewery, but that's an outlier since she's normally not behind the bar. Still, the crew is cool, if they are around, the experience is bound to be great. While I respect the other places, this is THE must visit place in town, and I'm itching to see where it goes. “

“Perfect spot to have a Beer in the shade with a nice view over the harbour. A few taps from the garden brewery is what you will find. Rawfood on the menu, great for vegetarians.“

“A quick visit as I had no time for other places, and my quiz was "next door" at Arsenal. Located literally on city walls, and not open year-round but "as long as sunny weather lasts" this is indeed a nice little garden lounge. As it usually is with Garden places - it's music-driven, and not purely beer-driven either when it comes to beverages, with, as Viktor said, cocktails being the main thing. This is, after all, a place that predated The Garden Brewery, so it had developed its own thing before. There were few guests when I visited, but still, the service was quite nice and professional. They had (or at least advertised) the regular Garden Brewery lineup (Pils, Pale Ale, IPA, Stout, Sour?) + crossed out mentions of the Summer Wheat, Pineapple DIPA and Raspberry Milkshake IPA seasonals - wasn't expecting any really as the season's coming to an end, but, during summer, you should be able to score some pretty nice and rare ticks. Prices higher than average for Zadar perhaps, but really nothing painful, en par with other fancier Poluotok places, and certainly nothing the tourists will find expensive. Again, don't expect a beer-driven place and a place catering to beer geeks in any way other than maybe the selection if you're lucky. Go there, have a tick or 6-8 (unless the 0.33l-only thing is "too much" for you), enjoy the view if you catch a place by the edge and relax - you're on holiday!“

“Nice place with a great view! In the old town of Zadar, overlooking the yachts in the port. Not purely a craft beer place, way more concentrated on cocktails. But they have a good selection of around 6 Garden Brewery beers on draft and a few on bottle. Some standard and some seasonal. The staff was nice and efficient, great vibe and atmosphere. Prices as expected in Zadar but nothing crazy. Cheaper than all of western Europe...“

74 /100 MAJSTORA RADOVANA 7, FALKENSTEINER HOTEL COMPLEX
“A large/busy pub with a large patio within the Borik Falkensteiner hotel complex, seemingly the best beer place in Zadar for now. A large number of taps, mostly lagers + dark Bernard & Lindemans Kriek, all seemed in good shape. The turnover's pretty great, even during winter apparently - when we visited it, the place was packed. And you can see why easily - it has a little bit of everything for everyone. Extensive beer selection - both lagers and craft / specialty beers? Check - the tap list is bolstered by a very cool large display case with a very wide selection of bottled beers (for the area) - Croatian craft (the local Brlog Plavuša in great shape), a ton of Belgians, but stuff from "all" other beer cultures too. Food? Check! Okay pizzas, okay burgers, okay prices. Nothing was groundbreaking, but solid portions. Sports? Check! Live music (good too)? Check! Very varied crowd (and it was indeed a crowd). It's even more popular when the patio's open. The service was quite fine enough. So far so great... unfortunately, unless I'm remembering something wrong, smoking's also a "check". And a major peeve was everything, regardless of style, being poured in Heineken glasses, guess unless you specifically ask. Still, until / if a pub bolstering a Zagreb-level selection of craft beers w/taps & seasonal opens, this will remain the best place do drink something special in town. During winter, in a pretty large circle too. Worth going out of your way for if you're just in this area, both for a beer and, perhaps, a night out.“
