“Camped on the small campsite at the back of the brewpub. The bar is a prefab building that doesn’t look great, but inside is a different matter. Long bar with 10 cask ales from their own brewery and a couple of non macro lagers. There are also five ciders in bag in boxes plus a few bottles consisting of three of their own beers and Brewdog punk IPA. The decor inside is, very nice and cosy with different seating areas with sofas etc low lighting and a large fish tank stretching the length of the bar. Well worth a detour, and the beer on cask was all in good condition.“

“If there wasn’t a traditional pub sign on the roadside you’d probably drive past this place. It’s practically the last building south of the cross roads in the centre of Hipperholme on the way to Brighouse, and the large brick factory building is where the brewing takes place, the actual bar is in a prefabricated single floor square mobile unit to its side - it’s a very unusual place and setting for a pub. People know about it though and there’s a decent crowd in here at the weekends from the offing. The bar to the right draws your attention straight away as the serving area is directly above a very long fish tank with some considerable sized species swimming about in it. There’s an odd art deco but funky style for the rest of the place which is all seating and a television screen that had Tennis on during my visit. I never stayed inside though as across the car park is an elevated patio area which was full of sun and full of patrons, so much so people were sharing tables with each other despite a dozen on so being located there. Behind this is a small caravan park which can take just over half a dozen visitors, although a couple of them are people permanently living here so I hope they like ale!!! All 8 hand pumps had a different Halifax Steam beer available and there were 2 bottle choices from the brewer in the fridge.“

“This Ossett pub is below the main road on the western side of the main traffic cross roads in the small town. You’ll need to take the first road heading down a hill off the main road on its south side. Not too far along it you’ll find the pub with its row of picnic tables out front. There’s a cobbled section on the other side of the road suitable for parking. The central door is flanked either side by comfortable soft furnishing in a traditional pub style. The left hand area has a fireplace in the middle of the room with seats on either side. There’s no shortage of choice here with the regular Ossett selection on one row of pumps and a row of guest ales further along the bar that includes a cider.“

“Different. Where else do you find a pub that once served as home for channel tunnel builders in a West Yorkshire factory car park complete with a full length aquarium, traditional English bar and art deco surrounds? Arrive alone leave with friends. Also, the beer’s quite good as well! A gem not recognised by Halifax CAMRA, but there’s no surprise!“

“On site bar in the brewery near the crossroads at Hipperholme close to Halifax UK. Great beers brewed and served in the homely portakabin. Now has an outside seating area for the three days a year its warm enough to sit out in the UK.“
