Maypole (Bar)
32-34 WARLEY TOWN LANE
“In the centre of the village at the road junction, this pub in a relatively modern building for its type is a very plushly decorated traditionally wooden furnished inn that has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Only a small area of the building is given over to the public house areas and it’s mostly set-up for dining as this is clearly a draw, although the first area through the door has a cosy lounge atmosphere conducive for a quiet drinking session. The bar is well stocked with several ale pumps and if the weather is nice it’s worth sitting under the large trees by the extensive parking area. Sadly there’s only limited views despite being high up and these are only from the overflow parking area and not the terrace to the pubs rear.“

“Although the bar is cosy and there’s a dining room set-up for the food served here, perhaps the biggest draw is the view over the Upper Calder Valley at Sowerby Bridge. Set high-up on the edge of the village of Warley Town you can just see the fast-flowing M62 motorway as it crosses the Pennines at a split-level with Stott Hall Farm in the middle. If the weather is good the front deck is a fine place to enjoy the vista, as is the rear garden area that is accessed first through the bar then the dining room. Thwaites ales are served being a brewery owned pub. There’s a small car park sandwiched between the building and a playing field.“
