| 66 /100 House of Bottles - Marengo (Beer Store) 21716 W GRANT HWY “First visit, August 2016. Surprisingly large and well-stocked liquor store in a fairly dull, apparently decaying small town halfway between Rockford and the NW suburbs of Chicago, right on US 20. Loads of Three Floyds, Revolution, Boulevard and other local/regional breweries - if you’re in this area for some reason, I can’t imagine there being many better stops. Few imports of any note; several ciders and meads. But be warned that prices are slightly on the high side, and most stuff is not refrigerated (though the beer shelves face away from windows and the store is reasonably cool and not overlit. A pleasant surprise on a random drive for me, though it’s unlikely that it’s worth the trip again given what I can find in the Rockford area.“ |

Special releases seem to get here a little later but they hang around a lot longer. Revolution, DFH, Three Floyds, Firestone Walker, Boulevard and a whole slew of other local, regional and national craft brands can all be found here.“ |
