“Not really a beer focused place, but a nice place for a sit-down meal in a relaxed environment if you're in the neighborhood. Still about a dozen taps of crafty stuff, and a limited bottle selection. Tasty, but expensive food.“

“Overview: The Village Anchor is located outside of Louisville proper in Anchorage, one of the most affluent districts in the state. If I had to venture a guess, I’d say the pub views itself as the aristocratic type of pub, reminiscent of some of the nicer houses in London (from what I’ve viewed in media). The upstairs features quite the ornate bar area (the most ornate i’ve seen in the area) and a seating area with lavish lighting, paintings on the walls and ceiling, and a double fireplace- an homage to the Victorian-era pubs if anything. The downstairs "Sea Hag" portion of the place was a little simpler, but still very nice. I felt quite under-dressed in my navy hoodie and patched jeans! Service was friendly and prompt without being helicopter-ish; the bartender (who was also my waiter) gave me an extra pint of Edmund Fitz when the keg blew. In our brief exchanges, he seemed to know his beer and terminology. Selection was disappointing; no new ticks to be had here, unless you are new to the hobby. Also, everything was served in a shaker and there were no options for smaller pours or flights. Food, however, was delicious- I had a Gyro with rosemary fries made in-house, both very tasty and a perfect portion size. This is a really nice place, and you’re going to pay for the experience-even lunch entrees ran in the $12-15 dollar range, unless you were eating soup. My shaker of beer ran at $7, probably close to $2 more than at any other bar in the city. Other beers were a similar case. PROS: Beautiful space to eat and drink; mindful service; delicious food. CONS: Mediocre beer selection; prices were pretty high (though worth it for the food); lacking proper glassware or different measures of beer for sale. OVERALL: A nice date night destination, and certainly a good place for a meal, but not a beer destination for the city. Certainly worth a stop if in the area if you’d like a great meal in an idyllic setting. This place shares a parking lot with Anchorage Cafe, but i’ve never had trouble finding a spot. The park nearby makes for a nice after-meal walk.“
