“Pretty decent beer with some interesting food options. Very convenient location next to the mall and the highway which makes it a great place to stop when travelling through the area. Comfortable seating area with different rooms giving off a coffee house vibe. Big fan of the Disco Sasquatch DIPA.“

“Loved this place...thought it was a must visit for the area after recently checking it out. Cool location in downtown Bangor with great decor (please lose the steel stools with no backs though...incredibly uncomfortable...and way too popular in too many breweries now). Great staff.and a fun clientele to hang out with. The real story though is how great the beers are. Orono is a must stop on any I95 Boston to Canada traverse (or reverse). Last trip I took a variety back to Jersey. Can't wait to visit again soon. Do the same.“

“Nice people...small" eclectic" place...short list of choices...beers were ok to solid...nothing really noteworthy. People were cool. Seemed like a good place to checkout while in town visiting Orono. I wouldn't recommend a visit solely for this place though. But of course small places can change quickly...so maybe a visit 6-12 months later could turn up a totally different story.“

“Visited during an August 2018 afternoon on my way-back to Quebec. Nice store in downtown Bangor with selection of beers, wines and spirits. You can find local stuff as well as some imports. The selection was quite small but I wanted Maine beers and and filled two 6-pack quickly. Good place to stop, considering that you are the middle of Maine“

“Stopped in for a snack. Big seating are both at the bar and restaurant. Tried their sampler, all were decent. Server was friendly, nothing over the top. Worth a stop for lots of ticks.“

“This was our last stop while in Bangor and we hit it early afternoon before our flight out. Lunch was mostly pub grub with the wings being the winner, IMO. Beers were all very solid and mostly in the classic craft styles. The porter and brown ale were my favorites. It's attached to a hotel, which makes it kind of weird. The interior is outdated a bit at this point, too. Service is friendly though not all that quick. A decent spot for a few beers.“

“A small tap room that was busy but not overly packed on NYE. Service was great, beers ranged from good to impressive and a lot of different styles. The only thing I didn't like about this place were the tables. They were a bit uncomfortable and no where near big enough for the four people they want you to fit in there, unless everyone is an ultra petite. So, sit at the bar and have some good beers.“

“Great place with great service, unique beer selections that you don't readily see Orono distribute and very good beer overall. Definitely worth a stop. Prices the normal high for good craft.“

“A little store in Bangor Historic district. Some local, some national. After going to Oak Hill Bev. and Craft Beer cellar, this is very small. If you are staying nearby, it can do the job though.“

“Despite being labeled "wine" store, these guys have a pretty good selection of New England breweries at a decent price for the area. Pretty good service and pretty clean, it’s worth a shot if you’re in the area.“

“Not a bad place, the time I visited, but also fairly loud that night with a really bad punk rock band playing. Beers were pretty good. They do a good job of keeping the place clean. Service was decent. Might go back if I was in the area.“

“Man it’s tough to give this place a good rating because it\s basically just a gas station that is filled with beer. Service wasnt really there, but selection was really nice, almost everything warm, super convenient store.“

“It was acoustic jam night at this small but quaint location in downtown Bangor. Nice outdoor patio in the back. Bar area was small as well but there was a decent size room adjacent with tables that would seat a nice size party. There were about 12-14 musicians here tonight to jam a variety of well known tunes. Service was good, but I thought lacked a little in suggestions. Think that will come in time. Food was modest but very good. Prices were excellent and the beer was delicious. Served in appropriate glassware. This is a great place and I think it will improve as the staff gains more experience. Glad we came here.“

“Just ok. They do have a good beer selection and a "100 Bottle" club but they tend to "Misplace" your sheet so keep a backup. The food is not very impressive, I haven’t had a meal that i felt was worth the money. The bar itself pretty nice, although small. Can get loud.“

“Awesome beer bar. Bangor needed a place like this. 14 Rotating Taps and a Cask Line. Selections vary from Local offerings to Import. Very large bottle selection. The food here is excellent, It’s a small menu but it’s very High quality. Staff is very knowledgeable and willing to work with you to find the right beer for you. Great atmosphere, often times live music, and a newly added Bier Garden. Check this place out you wont be disapointed.“

“This is my #2 beer store in Bangor. I stop in often to see whats new and not being carried by other stores in the area. This is a small store and the beer selection isn’t huge but they do have a decent selection of Cold Craft beer on hand. Good selection of Wines on hand as well. Knowledgeable staff but this leans more towards the wine thant he beer.“

“Beer: Rotating selection on tap, ranging from local (state of Maine), to worldwide. Taps rarely repeat, and once one is gone there is a different one to replace it. Also have a great selection of bottled beers, but the tap selection is usually enough to keep you happy. Additionally, Monday night flights are a good way to sample a bulk of the menu with smaller 4oz pours for very reasonable prices. Service: Everyone is knowledgeable about the beer and can provide recommendations. Food: This isn’t a dedicated restaurant and the focus is more on enjoying some beverages. However, there is a food menu that seems to change fairly frequently, but it is always very good.“

“Nice little store in Downtown Bangor, easily within walking distance of Seadogs and the free parking garage in decent weather. About half the store is beer with lots of Maine and other New England micros and craft brews. There were also a fair number of imports, but I was not really looking for imports so I didn’t spend long on that shelf. Staff seemed knowledgeable and friendly, indulging our touristy ways. Prices seemed standard for the area. Overall, worth a stop if you are in the area and looking for local beers. Less cramped and hectic than many small stores so shopping was more pleasant.“

“For starters, it is actually a deli built off a Citigo gas station. It is cramped, everything is retail white and people lining up for sandwiches got in the way of my beer picking. However, it is definitely worth a stop. The location is convenient, near the mall and right of the I95 so no time will be wasted looking for it. The beer was only two coolers and two double sided shelving units, but what they have crammed into that space is amazing. Lots of US and regional craft beers, hardly anything macro even in the coolers. I left with some Flying Dog, a Lion stout, two lambics, and a Chimay Triple. Given a little more space and time I don’t know what I could have pulled out. Stock there seems to move fast and they seem to bring in a fair number of seasonals, so I think there might be something new to find over multiple trips. I do see the other posters concerns over storage. The beers are just out on a shelf like they were motor oil or Slim Jims, but the temperature was ok in there and I get the feeling stock might not sit around long enough for that to be an issue.“

“Good atmosphere with lots of local sports memorabilia, artwork, old timey photos and a huge outside patio overlooking the river. Bar was big with lots of brass. Service was mostly good, but it took us a while to be seated though their weren’t many other people there at the time. Our server had to do us and a table outside so she was always going. She was always friendly and helpful, just spread a little too thin. The selection was quick varied, we got a sampler of 10 different drafts, all Sea Dog or rebranded Shipyard brews. It was a good value for about $12 we received 11 3 oz. samples. However, many of the beers weren’t really impressive, maybe 3 or 4 out of 10 I’d try again. No sure what they had beyond their own beers on tap. The food was very good. Menu has a large and varied selection. Prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food and the portion size. Overall, I would not recommend Sea Dogs as a microbrew worth more than one visit. However, as a restaurant I’d actually look forward to trying more food. We had seafood which was done rather well so next time I’d like to try a burger, sandwich or another dish.“

“You need to consider that it is a gas station, not a beer store. The selection is better than you will find at most stores you will find in Maine. Storage is a major issue, too warm, too much light....but considering the location it is what it is. De Ranke and few other sours make it worth the stop.“

“A pleasant place to shop. Plenty of local stuff - Atlantic, Bar Harbor, Penobscot, an Oak Pond that I hadn’t seen elsewhere, but no Andrews when I visited. Didn’t really look beyond the local brews but seemed to have a decent selection. Very friendly and informed service from the beer geekess serving. Didn’t have time to peruse the cheese. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.“

“Holy cow, it’s just a gas station for crying out loud! I checked it out because the signboard out front said ’225 beers and counting’. I might argue with that number but there is some great beer here (Saison Dupont, for example, at a gas station). The storage is perhaps questionable, okay for Dupont but the temp. was probably 85 when I visited and 90% of the bottles are sitting out on shelving open to all light and temp. fluctuations.“

“Pretty much the only place around to buy homebrew supplies unless you’re up for a couple hour drive. It’s good enough, there’s decent turnover so grain doesn’t get stale. The hops selection changes a lot, they’ll wait until the cooler is nearly empty before restocking so it’s a good idea to buy what you want when you see it and keep it in your own fridge. Lots of different bottles for sale. Supplies for winemaking too, although I don’t know anything about that, there are corks and foils etc.. Lots of beer and wine kits, which is probably the way to go unless you know what you want. It’s hit or miss whether you’ll find the staff helpful, there isn’t a full time beer person.“

“Lots of Maine beer. Andrew’s brewing and all of the Atlantic/Bar Harbor brewing line. My only complaint is the lighting is poor, my eyes hurt after looking at all the bottles. Updated on 11/27/09 Just got new ownership, the shop is laid out differently and feels much better when you walk in. The couple who now own it are delightful and I have high hopes for making this my go-to place for beer.“

“Visited on a Sunday evening in November. It was a typical dead sunday night, so service was readily available. Very nice place, decent sized bar, it appeared to have a nice porch seating area, but it was too cold for that. Service was decent. Our waitress was nice and helpful recommending food, but was no help with the beer. I asked what styles the thumpr and the bangor were. She replied, I don’t know, it’s just their names. After tasting, I had a good guess but talked to the bartender on the way out. The food was good. I had the crab cakes, lobster bisque, and the haddock soft taco. All were very good. The beers were nice, of course, had to have the sampler. I liked the IPA and the porter, they had IPA on cask. Overall, it was a very good evening at a nice brewpub.“

“This is a health food store and homebrew shop that stocks a pretty good selection of micro brews and imported beers. For the central Maine area, this store has a good selection, without all of the macros getting in the way. It’s also a great place for beer and winemaking supplies.“

“Visited this place on a trip last weekend to Bangor. Not much in the area, but this place was good for finding good beer. They had a fair assortment of Stone, DFH, Allagash, a few Belgiums, Germans, I spotted one Mikkeller, and a whole bunch of the Maine and surrounding state craft brews. The guy working was pretty helpful, but was more knowledgeable about wine. I really didn’ t look at their wine selection, but it appeared to be nice.“

“Établissement visité le vendredri 4 juillet vers 14h. Ambiance: Très grand restaurant avec une terrasse surplombant la rivière Penobscot. Service: Lent au début, présentation des bières disponibles. Sélection: 10 fûts maisons dont 1 cask. Nourriture: Nous avons pris en entrée une chaudrée de palourdes et un chili et comme repas nous avons partagé une assiette de nachos. La chaudrée était excellente. (100e rating d’établissement)“

“Been here twice both times the service was not that great. Amen to Fanwick on the sampler. The food portions were small and you defiantly pay for the view .PS the Root beer is bought by the bottle too, I found out the hard way with my kids (it was better than some of the ales I tasted)“

“I had seen several ads for Seadog in the local papers and decided to stop by. I asked for a beer sampler, and was rewarded with a staggering 13 beer sample tray! Unfortunately, this abundance of beers only produced 2 which stood out, those being a blueberry flavored wheat beer, and their Old East Pale Ale. The food was very good, (I had a Stroganoff with Rag Noodles and my wife had the Mediterranean Chicken) as well as being reasonably priced. Service was good, and the Bangor site was very nicely situated, over-looking the river.“
